We resigned Robert Turbin hard to see us keeping 4 backs kinda seems like the odd one out

I think it will be Wilkins, Mack, and Turbin as our main 3. Hynes is a unique back however, not strictly a RB. He provides us with an option in the slot ( he is an ex-WR) and can play special teams returning kickoffs. So while he’s a 4th RB, he’s also a 4(or 5th) WR, kick returner, special teamer. I’d be perfectly fine with him suiting up with the other 3 on game day if he’s a valuable contributor, which I think he will be.

  2. TY is a good #1 receiver, but I feel like he’s a better fit in the slot. He can obviously go head to head against any corner on the outside, but some big targets out wide will help the offense.

The bodies just just add to what we can do which is what we need

I read this and I think this is awesome. . . we almost certainly got a lot better up front.

We just drafted both of the 2017 AP first team All American guards in this draft.

Listen I said before that I would have rather had Josh Jackson over Smith, but I can say this.  Ballard is 100% committed to keeping Andrew Luck protected.  Grigson never showed this level of commitment to protecting the franchise.

To Grigsons credit, he drafted 4 offensive lineman in his last draft. It was too late at that point, but at least he got us Kelly and a solid backup in Haeg.

  4. We drafted a guy better than our best offensive lineman, Castanzo. He will play side by side with Nelson, and he with Kelly.

Now if we can avoid injury, these guys will be stout up front and will be great for stopping the front 7 of our opposing division opponents. Nelson should be able to contain the likes of Jurell Casey and Calais Campbell much better than our previous guard.

AC - QN - RK - (Slauson?) - (Haeg? Clark?)

This is also something I saw on Twitter:

Will the Colts be hosting an open practice to fans again this year? I’d really like to see it again (went last year) this time with a totally new feel. I know it’s closer to the season, but I was just curious. Thanks

I thought for sure the Colts were going to draft Josh Jackson with that first or second 2nd round pick.

That said, I'm personally glad Ballard went for fixing the trenches instead of drafting CB's.

I did too. As history shows however, drafting corners late can work as well as early rounds. We obviously didn’t take any, but because we didn’t we may be looking at the best offensive line we’ve had in decades, and it is there to stay for at least 3-4 years, maybe longer.

  6. Jordan Wilkins will be our #1 I think. Then Mack will be our #2. I really think Wilkins can be good for us. Just watch his tape against LSU and Alabama. He will have a much better line than he did at Ole Miss too, so there is a lot to be excited about with this kid.

His running style reminds me a lot of Leveon Bell, running with patience and balance. His biggest issue to me seems to be his pass protection, but overall he seems like he was slept on and I’m glad we ended up with him.

  7. We have Wilson, Desir, Milton, and Acker. I think Wilson is decent, as well as Desir. We do need more talent there, but if we can get to the quarterback more, we will be okay without it.

Our offense will will be a powerhouse this year with Luck behind a run blocking offensive line as well as better pass pro and a new offense.

We have 50 million in cap space. Maybe another OT will be signed as the season approaches?

Or Dez Bryant? As much as I think he has character issues, he would be a good weapon for Luck.

  9. No doubt about one thing: our run game will be better as well as our passing game. Nelson is more of a run blocker and he will be on Castanzo’s side.

This draft has much improved our offense. I’m excited to see what plays they draw up.

    No.

Polian would have never selected Nelson at 6 and I doubt he would’ve even traded down from 3.

And he wouldn’t have used two of our first 3 picks on guards , and I bet he would’ve taken a RB or WR in the second round minimum.

This was nothing like a Polian draft.

If Polian wouldn’t have taken Nelson at 6, then Ballard is the better GM based on that merit alone.

  11. I think that with a faster defense, we may get to the quarterback more. This will help out our secondary a lot.

I would also like to note our defense will most likely not be very good. If it is, it will be, at best, 15th in total defense, which ironically would be so good we’d probably make the playoffs. It all depends on how our players develop.

Again, no one is arguing the positions. It's the players that are uninspiring.

I thought the players were all excellent athletes and have great potential. The RBs are the only double up I questioned, but I like Wilkins a lot. He makes people miss and does it with ease. I understand your skepticism because they aren’t players you’ve heard of, but let’s watch them play and I feel you may change your mind.

Do not a single corner drafted. Interesting. Ballard must be real confident in Quincy.

Even so. I’d have liked to add more depth there.

We have some guys at corner like Quincy, Hairston, Desir. We needed those bodies for competition and man am I ready to see them get after it.

Listening to Brugler on the draft show (Dallas Cowboys draft show) - says he's not great in coverage and has trouble finding the ball, but otherwise athletic LB who can hit.

It’s coachable, just needs more time in the film room and trusting his instincts. I thought he filled gaps rather well in his highlight tape, but I’m sure he needs plenty of work. Good insight though.
