Wonderful effort here! As ClaytonColt said, this is the problem with the AFC South in this draft. They will end up getting much better, and we have to rely on some Luck in the draft (no pun intended), and have a player fall to us, or a trade partner to move down and get another day 2 pick. This is where Tennessee becomes a much more dangerous team in the 1st 75 picks, and if the Texans get a QB that is even average, that will make life tough for the Colts. Something else that may happen is the Jags could take Fournette and have a franchise RB for 10 years that makes their offense respectable and turns them into an 8-8 team that matches up well vs us.

Great effort! Lamp wouldn't be BPA (IMO) at 15, but I'd love to trade down a few spots and get him.

Don't forget that the Texans lost some of their best defensive players. Wilfork retired and boyue moved on, so those losses should be evident next season

I want him and think we could take him in the second, but I believe we should wait a little bit longer. Recent reports are stating that Mixon could fall out of the first 3 rounds, and one source even says he could go undrafted. Grab another defensive talent in the second and then look back into him in the third

Agreed.  I really want Mixon, but we can have no shortage of additional defensive talents through the draft.  I really can't wait to see how the board falls.

  3. I happened to find this on YouTube just browsing through some videos.  I am really high on Mixon despite him hitting the girl, as I think he can learn from that, and would not put a solid NFL career in jeopardy. I am for drafting him in the 2nd, especially if we can acquire an extra 2nd round pick in a trade-back deal in the 1st round.

I was actually stunned at how well Willis tested because he didn't look that explosive to me on tape. Those are elite measurables for an edge rusher.

I know what you mean. It's because of his long strides. I watched Harris afterwards and thought, "this guy looks so much quicker" then I started thinking about stride. If the Colts drafted Willis, I would want him to work on his agility and quick movement since he doesn't have that quickness in his game like Harris. Willis has pretty good explosiveness off the ball, but it isn't consistent. I would be happy with either, but tbh, I want Conley in round 1.

I didn't watch it but saw a picture on FB. I would have asked what he was doing to stay in shape. Luck looked incredibly skinny. He looks like this forced rest is taking its toll on his muscle mass. Hopefully he is able to put that back on before the season starts -- especially given our OL play.

This is extremely important for him and to avoid re-injuring his shoulder. Less muscle mass means he's lighter and has less body torque in his throw which puts more tension on his shoulder to try to get the ball to the receiver at a good pace. As a former qb myself, I know what a lack of weight can do to your throw and how it affects everything else. Think of it like a balance triangle, where if one point of the triangle is moved in(Andrew's decreased body weight) another point will have to compensate to balance the triangle (arm or shoulder)

In regards to Foster, I'm seeing stuff about his medical re check and that it didn't go well, his shoulder isn't healed and may need another surgery. I definitely see him slipping and I don't think he's gonna be a guy we should use our 1st on with his big medical red flag and then the fact we don't really know if he's gonna be capable of handling the mental side of the game if he has trouble understanding schemes and Xs and Os and what not.

That speculation of Foster was apparently fake news, found out this morning in a separate thread.

  7. I figured I would look at Charles Harris and my personal favorite edge rusher, Jordan Willis, and Willis had better stats in every matching category. Hard to believe, but I'll put it in this reply:

    Test                          Harris         Willis

    Bench(reps)                21              24

    Vertical(in)                 32.0           39.0

    20 yard shuttle(sec)  4.42           4.28

    Broad Jump(in)        109.0        125.0

    3-cone drill(sec)        7.47          6.85

    40 yd dash(sec)        4.82          4.53

Harris is also 1 inch shorter and 2lbs lighter. Willis has bigger arms and hands. So I have a question now: would you take Willis over Harris based on this, or do other factors come into play?  What keeps you from picking one over the other?  I don't think either had off-the-field issues, and both went to NCAA schools, Charles Harris and Jordan Willis to Missouri and Kansas State respectively.

Also, Harris is a projected 1st rounder while Willis is a projected 2nd rounder.

  8. If Mixon is available in the 3rd, I would take him in a heartbeat. If Jordan Willis and Mixon are both there in the 2nd, that's when it gets difficult. Both are great, but our defense needs more help since we were 31st last year, so I think Willis is the better 2nd round choice. Do you think Sidney Jones will last into the middle of the 3rd?

  9. Jordan Willis, OLB, Kansas State— this guy is a monster presence as a pass rusher and has great explosiveness off the ball. He is 6'4 255lbs  with 33 1/2" arms, and ran a 4.53 40 at the combine along with a 39" vertical.  A draft profile describes him as a "stack-and-shed edge defender with great hands at the point of attack". He is my personal favorite in the 2nd and if we get an extra pick by trading back in the first, we can get a 2nd round RB as well.

Mingo at ILB is intriguing to say at the least. Colts should try him out there during camp and see how he does.

Wouldn't Mingo be a better cover backer with his altheticism? I'm not sure if the difference between the Mike and Will, but I do know their jobs differ when it comes to pass plays

  11. I really like Aiken.  Catches with his hands for the most part, something Moncrief needs work on (he catches with his body a lot, but does still make plays).  Aiken is apparently a good blocker at receiver from what I've heard.  I'm excited to see how the coaches use him.
