Madden Stat Developer: So what about this Malik Hooker? What have you heard about him?
Madden Researcher: I heard he can't tackle...
Madden SD: Ok
*Gives sub 50 tackling

Also love what I've been hearing about Hairston. He's a guy who wants to exceed the ceiling the team sets for him. He could end up being the starting nickel.
With those three in press coverage, Hooker roaming, and Geathers thumping, I'm actually excited to be watching the D backfield, instead of dreading it.
And Ballard did this in one offseason.

He was a solid passing TE. We let go of him at a good time though.

Hooker naturally. Of course he is an easy choice. The Colts have been among the worst in the league in takeaways for YEARS. Doesn't mean he will help turn that around but I doubt it will be any worse with him and he certainly shows the potential to snag some balls. He has great range and breaks on the ball very well.
I'm excited about ALL of the picks to a certain degree but I'm most excited to see Hooker in action (LOL, I know I know). They just haven't had a guy like THIS for, well, since they've been in Indy.
Mike Adams? Kinda? But better....

Agreed. And Hooker's presence will allow for the Colts to play Geathers in the box more often. Thus bolstering our front seven against the run. Hooker is there primarily to play the pass. If he has to come up and make lots of tackles on a regular basis something is going wrong with our front seven. lol
Yep. Ohio St. box wasn't great outside McMillan, so they didn't help Hooker out when he missed tackles.

If Basham could give us anything it would be gold. Our pass rush is a total unknown.
Sheard and Simon are underrated.

3-3 at best in our div.
I predict 2-4.
Decent (20%) chance 1-5.No. Titans have never beat us, Texans got weaker on defense, even with Watt returning, Clowney off the field is fine by me. Jags are the Jags, and with our upped defense, Bortles is gonna have a migraine every game against us
-
The Colts were never really out of games either except for the Chiefs game and Steelers, but our defense obviously is monumentally better, and hopefully Luck will stay upright more often this year.

This is ridiculous. We are trying too hard. Let's just suck like the Bears.

I like "No Fly Zone" a lot, but Denver & Arizona have been using it for a couple years now I think. It'd be fun to have a contest to see who comes up with the best name.
What about the Indy Vertical Limit?

I like the fact that both of you guys are cutting him a break in his first year.
In all honesty, I really only expect at least 1 pick, but I doubt that he will only get that. He is basically a younger, more athletic Mike Adams with tremendous upside and a nose for the football.

Quincy Wilson. The kid is only 20 years old. That's so young for a cut throat position like corner back. If he has a good first season, like he could be a very very special player, with a huge ceiling. Were only at the very start of his bell curve. Got great ball skills also.
I agree about Wilson. I think I'm most excited about Hooker, but Wilson is interesting. I love his physicality on the line and it will help if our pass rush can get something going, otherwise he may get burned a few times (I'm expecting it to happen anyway, he is only a rookie after all)

I watched the film and even veteran safeties sometimes take bad angles.I think he will be fine.
Are you, or is anyone familiar with our db's coach? Hopefully he can send Hooker in the right direction.

He could pick off golf two or three times. i think he overrated
Yeah. Goff definitely needs some work, as long as it's after Hooker picks a few off of him.

Anything less than 20 he is a bust
Anything less than 10 sacks and the 'Fire Ballard' shirts are being printed.

I agree. Gruden like guys who can tackle and so didnt care for the pick but if you draft a guy who could lead the league in ints how can that not help the team
If you watch some film, Hooker doesn't even have trouble tackling; he just takes bad angles. I watched more film on him today and he is actually a hard-hitter and great tackler at times. He is stereotyped I feel and his tackling will not be as bad as we may think.
-
I also have a good feeling about Quincy Wilson. He has the confidence of Sherman and Ballard made it sound like he has great work ethic.

3-5 10+/- games.
I would think hes going to start from day one. Don't see TJ Green starting over him.
Hooker will be healthy come season time assuming he doesn't get hurt in camp or preseason. I can't wait to see how he develops
-
I had this thought in my mind after we drafted him. I thought 3, but man is he special. I watched when we drafted him on ESPN on YouTube and I hated how much Gruden disrespected him by saying "that's way to early for this kid". I was genuinely triggered, and I like Gruden. I lost some respect for him after that unprofessional showcasing of his character.
Edit: Let me put it this way; I don't see Malik hooker not getting at least one pick. His instincts are gifted, but against better QBs, he is going to have to watch some film to not get looked-off and burned. Luckily for him there aren't many good QBs we face this year besides Big Ben, Mariota, and Russel Wilson.
-
The difficulty is no longer getting the playmakers; the front office did that. Now it's getting all these guys on the same page on the defensive side of the ball and develop our rookies to become great, as many of them are high-ceiling players.

I know. I think he has a chance to make at least the practice squad.

Film of UFA RB Dalton Crossan. He reminds me of Darren Sproles with his quick feet, has decent hands, and has played KR for his school. Not bad.
