The main picks I want are Edmunds and Oliver. Those two guys seem like studs that just need that next level development
-
I think a good pair up for Hooker would be Isaiah Oliver. Man the secondary could be scary.

Penny won’t last until the 4th round.

Cheating to the line isn't a sign of bad instincts... Its a bad habit for sure but has nothing to do with instincts. He actually reads play action fairly well or a well as any other NFL linebacker his biggest "instinct" issue is that he had a hard time processing quickly enough against the option. That leads him to tackling nothing or missing completely. That's not only fixable but also wanted from a youthful player. I'd much rather have a linebacker choose wrong than be indecisive consistently and always in no man's land. You can correct a willing playmaker. It's harder to correct an indecisive one.
Good point, it is more of a bad habit. I like his coverage ability, and the fact Eberflus can work with him makes him even more favorable a pick.
And honestly, his indecisiveness can be coached too. Each player on the field has a job, and the 4-3 edge defender always has the outside option on a read. He will not have to do that, rather take the inside read or stay back for run-pass option.

I really like Oliver but I think he's more of a Day 2-3 prospect. If we take a corner at those points I think he'd definitely be one of the ones we had on our list.
If he is still there day 2, I’ll be extremely happy if we take him

Check this guy out: Isaiah Oliver.
Is he available in the 2nd though?
Edit: taking him at #6 isn’t out of the question to me either. I just don’t know how much noteriety he has, and if he’d not even be considered in the first round by anyone.

Agree completely. The issues over his instincts are overstated.
Smith is already pretty dog gone special but Edmunds is close to him in his current state and has potential to surpass quickly. If I'm drafting top 5 in the draft (or 6 even lol) I'm taking Edmunds as my blue chip player if there isn't a pass rusher or QB on the board.
Not really. You see multiple times that he creeps towards the line before the ball is snapped and gets faked out easily by the weakest play action.
Its not a reason to not take him though. If Ballard does end up taking Edmunds, he is basically saying “okay, I got you guys (coaches) the player, now you have to coach him up. With proper coaching, Edmunds is a pro bowler.

We need a smart Chris Ballard, a real genius.... wait, you meant cornerback? Sorry, the abbreviation throws me off from time to time.
aaaaand a zone corner, but can play good man to man in 3& long situations so we can rush the passer. We also need a pass rush.
-
The way his mock played out is why we shouldn’t trade back. Missed out on Edmunds, Rashaan Evans, Denzel Ward... basically all the gimme picks. Fitzpatrick, the list goes on. Then we get a RB, something we can get later and a decent pass rusher in Davenport. All else fails, take Nelson to 6. Or any other defensive upgrade (Edmunds, Ward, Fitz, R Smith)

I personally value Nick Chubb a little bit higher, so I would be more willing to lose out on green then chubb
What about Penny? Would you take him before Chubb? Also, I see. You were picking BPA, and Chubb was rated higher. We also need a RB more than interior DL. Our interior is pretty solid.

I wouldn't take either.
I would probably take Edmunds if not Barkley. I like Penny better in the 2nd or 3rd.
-
I’d swap N. Chubb and Green. Better odds of them both being in the respective spots.

The part where the colts take Barkley isnt realistic.
I know you’re one for strong opinions, but taking Barkley over Nelson makes sense to me. Ballard did say he likes the OG possibilities in later rounds.
-
One should be a gimme, the first round pick should automatically be a starter this year since were in the top 6.
Then hopefully 1 or 2 of the 2nd rounders can start, then maybe a starter or rotational player in the backend. That would be a great draft.
i said 3 though.

Barkley is definitely the #1. Chubb follows. Don’t let our need of a pass rush put Chubb above Barkley, he is the better value.

I’m stoked Loyola won! They played sloppy in the first half, taking shots that were easily blockable for the Martin brothers. Those guys were making plays all game. Cleaned it up in the 2nd half, probably due to their coach. Loyola has a great head coach imo.

The "term" wildcard pretty much meant Fitz, Roquan, Edmunds, and Ward could all be in play for us at 6 potentially if Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson go. Pretty much Ballard's highest ranked of those 4 guys if we stay put.
Just once I’d like to see Ballard’s draft board, even if it’s in 5 years from now who he had where in 2017 or 2018

At this point:
1.) Darnold
2.) Chubb
3.) Rosen
4.) Barkley
5.) Nelson/QB
6.) Nelson/wildcard/trade down
this is pretty accurate IMO as of now.
I think Fitzpatrick should be considered. He’s an elite player, Nelson is a need pick. Talented, but at 6 it’s too early.

I hope we can grab courtland Sutton in the second. He’s my favorite WR in this draft, but I have a feeling he’ll be gone in the first
I was suprised to still see him there. If he was there, he’d probably go with one of our first two second round picks.

i agree. However it wouldn't hurt to add Guice behind him to add a Dangerous 1 2 punch
Or Nick Chubb. I think he’s a projected 4th rounder.

Speaking of paranoia, I hope they put Belichick on a madden cover so he is out for the season.

The best option is difficult to see at this point. You just gotta watch those first 5 picks fall, then see what we can land. It gets harder in the later rounds because you never know who GMs are really looking to get.
