Jonathan Taylor comments on his contract/Request trade (Merge)
Colt.45 replied to GoColts8818's topic in Colts Football
I think the issue was pretty clear and while it's not surprising that we (fans) expected more after the long dance, I think it's easier to understand how/why the conference went that way once you accept that nothing has changed. What lies exactly are you referring to? The major card he held back was answering the question about how long he's been healthy. That answer he gave about he and James healing differently was certainly off. He almost tripped there. Yes, he went off on tangents whenever he could but I thought if he spoke his mind, it'd have been a total mess. Ultimately, the player showed up because he had to. He gave answers to questions asked (not the answers fans want to hear) and deflected all the serious ones about a situation that's still ongoing. Maybe it'd have been better if he said he was there so he wouldn't get fined That conference went precisely how I expected it to because the player's demands have NOT changed. As a fan, all I can sanely care about is that he plays well in whatever time he has left wearing these colors. What did we all expect? *that wasnt close to the lies i listen to from politicians on FOX and CNN daily. He wasnt anywhere near as smooth and the fact that everyone knows he was deflecting tells you that...politicians lie and you think they love you. JT didnt do that. -
Yup. Executing when everyone knows what you want to do. Best of the rooks.

Did we expect anything else given how this has all played out? It's corp-speak, PR nonsense on both sides. We know the fact is the guy wants to get paid and doesnt care who pays him. What else did we expect? -

8 minutes in, and I'll say this. I think we have a different view of what I meant by honesty. Yes, he deflected pretty much every serious question about the drama and contract and whether he wants to be a Colt. He didnt sugarcoat things when he could have. -

Not yet. Just extended snippets. What's he said that's different to you or stands out as dishonest? The one bit that stood out was when he was asked how long he's been healthy. That bit was obviously always going to be a sticking point for both sides. -

How exactly? I think what he didnt say was extremely honest. He could have said all was well, or given some brazen answers about how he loves the city, etc. The things he did say were things he had to. I'm fine with it. He's not going to kibosh his objective of getting paid as you stated earlier. For me, as long as his performances are reminiscent -

This is it. This nails it. He had a losing hand and has done ALL he can. Now he has to play superbly and hope someone pays up, whether Indy or otherwise. Your last bit is the key to fans feeling better but ask yourself, why would he do that? Why would he commit to playing out his contract? He wants to get paid. The most important thing he said was he wants to bring a championship to the city. That says he'll give his all while he's here. Fans who want a stronger commitment need to ask themselves what they'd do in his shoes. That's as strong enough as he should give IMHO. Loved the presser. Loved the honesty of it. None of that kumbaya stuff. He said what he had to and nothing more. -

Nah, this aint it. A player in a highly fungible position tried his best to get paid while playing a losing hand. That's more like it. The bit you're talking of can be applied to every single player in the league if thats the route you're taking it, doesnt add up -

He's giving the vibe of a guy who is going to play and play well because he has to. That's the business, factual side. The emotional side? Yeah, this isn't a guy who wants to play for the Colts. I dont think he believes the Colts have any interest in paying him what he thinks he's worth. I'm totally fine with him keeping things a buck. He doesnt have to be a fan fave, just has to produce and have his teammates believe that. The fans, owner, media, yeah all that doesnt matter to him. The guy is about his money. And if he produces, the fans will put the heat on the front office/owner to pay him. Whether that's a good decision or not -

Yeah, so he'll be a Colt this season most likely. If it's not a 1st then there's probably another individual going to be involved along with a 2nd or 3rd. The guy still wants to go elsewhere. -

He's 100% healthy, and treating this like a business. Fair enough. Now he has till the trade window to showcase his goods. If someone offers a 1st, he's probably going to be traded. -

[JT O'Sullivan] Anthony Richardson Week (Merge)4 vs Rams Analysis
Colt.45 replied to stitches's topic in Colts Football
JT is a mega fan. The number of wows he says watching AR reminds me of how he sounds watching Mahomes. This QB has under 20 games professionally and collegiate right? May the gods of football grant this guy health, i think Morocco Brown may have been right - he's a purple spotted unicorn. If this coaching crew can focus on teaching him.....watch. out. -
Richardson is ranked 32nd in competion rate

If Pittman is not considered a true #1 then Higgins sure isn't the level of ceiling lifter that'll do it. It'd have to be a truly elite guy. -

Hurts jumped with AJ Brown too IIRC -
8 games minimum, anything before that is a bonus

Which FA wideouts will be available next season? -
AR is doing exactly what Steichen wants from his offense.

This summarizes it all excellently after the first quarter of the season. Frank Reich needs to be very careful is all i'll add to this

No RT, LT, and C for the Colts. Revising this down to a 21-20 Colts W

Yup. Very glad for him, that S2 deal just before the draft was some lowdown stuff, the guy can play.

I thought I was always camp pay-the-player until this JT deal. I think Irsay should have kept his mouth closed, and I also think JT is carrying a cross for all running backs and he's not fit to carry that cross and has overplayed his hand (which was a slim one to begin with) -
To be fair, when a team loses, that's usually the complaint fans have. Even Belichick teams not immune to that pleasure of service. Steichen is good though, versatile and willing to bend where Frank was more wed to certain principles. Love what i see so far and honestly believe this match of HC and QB will bring the Colts success
