  1. As much as I don't want a corner in the first round, he sounds like a great fit for Gus's defense.
  2. Idk if Byron Murphy goes that high but yeah I'll take it lol. They always put the WRs in the first couple picks but I really could see picks 5, 6, and 7 going to tackles. They all have huge question marks at one of the spots. No point in any of them getting weapons if they don't have a line. Especially the Giants. Paid Jones all that and can't protect him.I
  3. I havnt looked into Trice tbh. I've seen he has been mocked late first. Will give him a look. Outside of the draft, I hope Josh Allen becomes available as a FA. Throw whatever at him to get him here. I'd definitely take Crosby too.
  4. So since we're talking about DEs, what's everyone think of Jared Verse? He lacks bend is the biggest knock. Has a quick first step, can apply pressure, and is solid on the edge. Might be the upgrade at Paye's spot that's needed. At this moment, I want him if we pick at 15 and all the weapons are gone.
  5. We've seen what it's like when our zone defense can't stop the run. If Grover was there to stop the run in the Bengals game we might of had a better chance. We definitely want more pressure from our line, but we also want to make sure they're stopping the run. If we somehow acquire a quality pass rusher, I could see us letting Paye walk and having Ebukam take over in his spot. Ebukam did pretty well against the run and pass. Could of applied more pressure yes, but just might against RTs. This isn't to say I want Paye gone either. I think his situation is similar to Pittmans in the part that he is someone you want on the team, but his roster spot could be improved.
  6. Reminds me of Erik Waldon in a way. Just not as durable. He is the type of DE you want on the strong side of the line. Just not the type most would like drafted in the first round.
  7. Figured we're gonna be seeing more and more of these. So might as well make a thread to consolidate them. https://atozsports.com/indianapolis/colts-2024-nfl-draft-met-rb-blake-watson-memphis-hula-bowl/ From what I understand he is one of the better receiving RBs in the draft. Had over 1000 yards last year rushing with a 6 ypc average. 480 receiving yards at a little over 9 yards per reception.
  8. Grover and Moore. Moss would be the cheapest to keep out of the 3, but dosnt leave as big of a hole if he is gone.
  9. I believe he is at the senior bowl this year. Someone to keep an eye on.
  10. I'd like for us to get both of them and have them sit behind Buck and Grover until they're done. Keep their chemistry going.
  11. I get where its not what we would like to happen, but that's normal roster turnover. That happens with every team in every sport. Houston and Autry were 15.5 out of 40 sacks. Buckner had more than both of them. They were replaceable and should of been. I like Autry alot, but nothing was really lost in the short or long term. ACs replacement should of been on the roster and the experiment didn't work. We would still be going young at the position eventually and would have to take the lumps. At all spots you will have to go young at some point and take the lumps.. As of right now, I can't think of a group this year. Only certain positions like FS and slot cb if Moore isn't retained.
  12. That's normal roster turnover IMO. The best route is to already have an heir waiting for his time, but there's usually other work to do to get the whole roster up to snuff for us. Outside of AC, none of these guys were irreplaceable. Gilmore stung but he wanted out, and I can't blame him after last year. We're gonna have some roster turnover when someone retires. The LT from last year (dont remember his name and im fine if nobody reminds me either lol) was an epic failure but the rookie was there to hold it down. While getting rid of Glowinski for a younger RG didn't work last year, it's worked great this year. Houston and Autry had a decent season but it wasn't anything to wrote home about so I don't know if we could consider it a strength tbh. I liked Autry but he wasn't a world beater by any means. Houston was also old and not the answer.
  13. It'll be interesting to see how these o lineman match up against the Texas DTs. If they square up well then they're worth a look.
  14. Just to this part, how did we go young on d line in '21, and oline in '22? Just by drafting a cluster of them in those drafts or something else? Both units have maintained their core starters for years. Secondary going young is a league wide trend. These rookies wernt meant to spend alot of time starting this year though. At least with Jones, getting starting reps was due to suspensions and injuries more than anything.
  15. Junior Colson, LB, Michigan. This guy seems like a great option on day 2. Plays the run well and can cover. 6' 3" 247 lbs.
  16. I hadn't thought about that. The story on the trade has usually been the GM trying to avoid paying Brown. I agree with the top end speed but more well rounded than Pierce. That actually might be the perfect explanation for the type of receiver we need this offseason.
  17. https://www.si.com/nfl/colts/news/indianapolis-colts-among-favorites-land-eagles-aj-brown Would you give up pick 15 for AJ Brown? Him and Pittman would compliment each other well. We would also be able to laugh at Titans fans, and who dosnt love doing that.
  18. I can agree with this for the most part. A high quality Z is who you want to be occupying the spot of WR1. Pittman is a high quality X, but that's not what you want to fill that spot. I think saying someone is WR1 talent is objective, but you can definitely say there is room for improvement at that spot from a talent standpoint. I love having MPJ on this team, and I think our WR room is solid like most of the roster. We have a guy for if we need to draw something up. We absolutely need a receiver that does all of the things. I really want Nabers. He is the best compliment to Pittman for an X and Z relationship.
  19. Ok. So you just don't want Ballard to get an attaboy from the fans. Got it.
  20. So is your issue with the statement really the definition of steal? Just like other words in the English language, a word can be used in many different ways. This instance is what is known as a "draft steal". According to Google a draft steal is defined as: a player who was drafted at a low spot yet goes on to have a stellar and productive career is known as a draft steal. Acquiring draft steals is a must for GMs to have a competent roster. Whether lucky, calculated, or whatever it is something that GMs are credited for. Ballard will always receive credit for finding/choosing a franchise LT in the third round.
  21. GMs definitely get praise for getting players that provide better value than their draft position. Why wouldn't they? Then why wouldn't Raimann be seen as a steal if Mathis is? Raimann was viewed as a good prospect from the get go, but he was an older prospect that needed polishing as football was new to him still. He was viewed as a 1st rd pick by most. Mathis wasn't a sack artist in college. He was quick and gave effort. He was a special teamer that worked his way up the roster to being a legend for this team. He was definitely a steal too. Just like Jeff Saturday was as an undrafted free agent. You're logic dosnt make sense. If GMs knew they were going to preform so well (because they have the power of foresight somehow) that they would of drafted them early isn't how it works. All anyone can do is project how they will do, and then make the pick. You're reaching for ways to discredit, and they don't make sense.
  22. There's alot left out for this to be compared to the draft. Was this vase picked at the end of the count? Draft picks arnt seen as equal so you can't say 78 boxes all presumed to have $100 (be really boring looking into draft prospects if they were all valued the same). Ones that are viewed as top 10 LTs would be viewed as vases. Alot missing. For just the scenario, alot of people would use the phrase "well that was 'a steal'". A steal and luck are synonymous.
  23. A GM getting a steal in the draft is absolutely luck. Most of drafting is luck. You're saying because he wasn't projected to be a top end LT but ended up being one, he isn't a steal? A LT, let alone a top of the league one, usually has to be targeted in Rd 1. Even further than that, LT is seen as one of the most important positions in the league (QB, LT, DE), so good LTs have to be taken top 10 usually. To find that in the third round is the meaning of a steal. Puka just got close to 1500 yards in his rookie season, and he isn't a steal in the 5th because nobody thought he would do that well? I'd say a steal on draft day is getting a player who plays far above their draft position. Top 10 at a premium position in the 3rd round.
  24. How is getting a top 10 LT in the 3rd not a steal? Is Puka not a steal for the Rams since he was passed up in 4 other rounds? Sounds more like a reach to not give props to Ballard for making a good selection.
  25. What is a WR #1? What is this traditional definition? Pittman is a quality X/ possessions receiver. While you would like that to be your second or third beat receiver, he is our first best. What everyone is saying they want is an elite receiver, but they want to work around ithw words saying "WR1". WR1 is a roster spot, not a role.
