  1. He is a top 10 tackle. He won't be moved inside anytime soon. Probably not until his last few years in the league, and probably not then either.
  2. Actually, a front loaded deal, heavy in the front, is probably a good idea. Maybe make some goals like "have x amount of big plays. X for YPC"
  3. For his time, yes. Now is he as good as Hill, no. Nobody is. All the guys you named are all great for their own reason, but that dosnt take away from TY being a WR1. During his prime years he continually produced no matter what QB he had. He lead the league in recieving yard in 2016 with over 1400. TY was a big part of why that crap roster we had overachieved their way into the playoffs. Was he the best receiver in the league then, no, but he was one of them. Now what makes a WR1? To me that's just a roster spot.
  4. Hall of famer no but he was definitely a WR1. So what's a WR1 then? If it isn't someone who can make explosive plays, someone who makes the tough catches, not a perennial 1000 yard reciever, or someone who has to be game planned for then what is a WR1?
  5. They have to. These guys are getting old fast.
  6. Yeah hopefully that was just the hip injury, but he hasn't been the model of consistency since coming into the league. Seems to kick well when his backs against the wall, then relaxes and waivers.
  7. I think he gets above $20 million a year, due to all salaries growing. Absolute max is $22 million to me. He can do a 2 year deal and keep proving himself if he wants more. If he signs for more, I really won't care as long as it dosnt strap us like Leonard's contract.
  8. I agree, but what's the dollar amount for everyone? That's gonna be what the focal point is with this extension.
  9. TY was definitely a WR1. Produced with whoever was at QB. He even played well with Hassellback back there. If someone who is explosive isn't wr1 material, and someone who can get the tough first downs/ over 100 catches a year isnt WR1 material, then who is outside of someone heading into the hall of fame?
  10. So keep him or toss him? Every team needs an X receiver that can make the tough completions. It just isn't exciting. That isn't worth top dollar, but where would you put that dollar amount? Does anyone think there is a correct $$$ amount for him. No matter what he gets, people are gonna say it's to much. Really a no win situation as a fan forum.
  11. I mention kicks from the statement of why didn't they score all the time. Even the greatest ever didn't score all the time. Unless there is a turnover or a TD, drives end with kicks usually. If your consistently scoring, you don't need a punter or kicker, except to kick off.
  12. I get where it's not fair, but that's the life of a highly drafted QB. Yes if he has a stretch of bad games next year and looks like he has regressed the fans are gonna start a lynch mob. That's gonna happen weather we crown him or not. As far as fans go, we can crown him or hate him. It makes zero difference. It only sets us up for disappointment or that begrudged feeling people get when they were wrong but so sure they had it right. It really dosnt matter. If someone wants to crown him as better than Tom Brady, we'll good for them. Has zero sway on what happens in colts headquarters. If Chloe states something as facts, she is well within her rights. As far as the team, no Ballard isn't going to come out and say we have the next GOAT when he had alot to learn coming into the season. He did say that we have more flexibility with the cap having our QB on a rookie deal. So while he isn't saying AR is the next best thing, he is saying we have our guy and are going to build around him. If we're building around him, that really says everything we need to know.
  13. He had a much easier time scoring against Houston than Minshew did. Our number of explosive plays went down after Minshew became the starter. Do you think Minshew could of brought us back in the game against the Rams? I highly doubt it. With this logic it never made sense for the Colts and Patriots to have a kicker or a punter. The two greatest QBs of all time and both of them needed Adam V to score points when they pushed it down the field. What does it matter if fans get ahead of themselves thinking someone is an answer at QB or any position. If someone wants to say they believe in Richardson then good for them. It hold zero weight when it actually comes to what happens with the team. Right, wrong, apathetic, or overly caring it makes no difference. Unless we're gonna go out and try and get another QB to compete for a starting apot, then it's fine for people to believe in AR, and think he is good at passing the ball. He actually is.
  14. I'd say next year is Ballards make or break year. He knows this and still chooses to keep Gus. He has made his bed. I've been a supporter of Ballard through some tough time. Debated with alot of people on here. I still say he has done well enough building the roster. It was absolutely terrible, head to toe, when he got here. We had Luck, Costanzo, TY, and Kelly. That's really about it. He has gotten the roster to solid (I agree with that term) and it's not been an easy feat. Saying that, this is the time to be aggressive. We don't need a plethora of picks now because we have to depth we didn't have. If he stands by and waits for 15, then we won't have any better of an offense. Just have some new pieces that need work over the next couple seasons. The WRs outside of the top three (MHJ, Nabers, and Odunze) will be our #4 receiver if chosen. He is also going to have to swing for the fences in FA. Top tier talent needed all along the defense. Throw some money at them to get them here. As I've said, I'm a Ballard fan and i like what he has done when looking at context. If we don't end up in the divisional round next year, it's time to move on. With Gus remaining here I have my doubts.
  15. He is just an angry guy. No matter if something good or bad happens, he is going to bash the colts for it.
  16. I think you're correct with the vision. He seems to get tunnel vision as the play goes on. I believe this is fixable but it's how comfortable can he remain with dudes 2 times his size trying to come after him. Let alone calling him a little *** boy lol. I think it is something that's coachable to put an answer down.
  17. I'm a Zak Zinter fan in the later rounds. He most likely won't start this year and needs work in the pass game, but he is what we used to have in Q as a run blocked. Will punch a Dlineman in the mouth then push him to the ground.
  18. So I think a trade with next year's first might not be a bad idea. I'm looking at the chargers #5 pick. If we throw two first round picks at them, along with either a second rd pick or a franchise tagged MPJ. At #5 we would definitely get a blue chip talent. I don't think MHJ would be there, but Malik Nabers would be most likely. Nabers speed along with Richardson's arm would be a thing of beauty and take our offense to another level passing. I would give that much capitol at this type of gamble. Huge reward available.
  19. So looking at big boards and mock drafts, it looks like the top tier of players is about 14 deep. If there isn't 4 tackles and 3 or 4 QBs taken in the top 10, we might just be getting the first pick of the next tier. These CBs have wrinkles and don't seem like lockdown types. Mitchell apparently has ballhawk potential but gives zero effort in run support. The Bama guys both have multiple games getting tourched. We might really want to consider a trade up. Weather early and get as high as we can, or see how the chips fall on draft night and hope we can get a good move made. We have a fairly solid roster, but we need to top tier talent to get us to the next level. We're gonna have to make a move for that.
  20. I'd say keep Minshew just so we don't continue the QB carousel. Just because we like what we have in AR dosnt mean we exited that ride. In fact we added two more QBs to that list this year. Let's ride with Minshew so we have the same guy behind center if AR goes down.
  21. I've seen and read the opposite about his blocking. While he isn't the stockiest TE and won't drive a DE back by himself, he always gives the effort to block at anytime for anyone. At the end of the GA tech game you can see him blocking and creating lanes for other players while up by 24 (not exactly 24, but they were stomping them). I think he can be used inline and chip block/ assist a tackle. He won't be a Jack Doyel, but most men aren't. If Bowers is acquired we should also get a good blocking TE or try and keep Mo on a cheaper deal.
  22. I understand everyone is mad that our defense is VERY flawed in its style, but lets not act like some of our wins this year wernt directly from the efforts of the defense. They played a good game in Baltimore, just never went back to that plan. Ebukam gave us a game sealing sack against the Bucs to end their final drive. Franklin laid out Henry in our first match up to prevent him from getting a first down. Speed had a game sealing sack against the Browns but that got called back referees... I'm not saying this is a good defense this year, they wernt, but they made plays when needed more than once this year.
  23. So what's everyone's opinions of the 2025 draft class? I was looking at it and, while not an expert, I didn't see any names that popped out to me. Could there be a possibility of a weaker draft class next year, and if so, would you be willing to trade away that future first to get a blue chip talent this year?
  24. If they do its time to look for a new QB. This year just needs to be used to build around the QB as much as possible.
  25. Actually, I think if that call didn't happen and the rest of the season remained the same. We would be going against the Texans again right now.
