Colts offseason discussion / Ballard Grievances (merge)

Before Lawrance that was consistently Jacksonville. They'd spend all that money on big names to get 4 - 6 wins every year and pick top 10 again. -

Honestly. No workout all offseason makes me not want him at 15. -

I don't think we're getting Evan Anderson anymore -

I think bringing Snead in would give us an upgrade at the position and someone that would help with the development of Brents and Jones with his experience. Snead, Brents, and Moore as starting CBs with Flowers and Jones backing them up is a pretty good room IMO. -

I hope we can get a deal done for Snead and sign Jordan Fuller. Those two additions would bring alot to this defense. Bringing Blackmon back as well would be great but not sure how much money is left now. -
I'd be ok with a day two pick. I'm expecting the normal wheeling and dealing and we end up with about 3 our 4 more picks. If it's just our amount of current picks then day 3 all the way.

We should draft another RB to replace Moss. We need someone that can legit start if Taylor is injured. Which he's a rb in his second contract. It's definitely expected.

Tossed that linebacker aside like it was his little brother. -
They have needs at CB, edge rusher, receiver, o line and TE according to the google machine. The first three spots should have a good prospect available to draw them in.

Resigning Blackmon (he shouldn't be to expensive with his injury history) and pairing him with another vet like Simmons seems like the best route for the safety room. Simmons would provide valuable experience our young secondary needs. If we did this tho, would we be able to keep Moore? This got put in the wrong thread. My bad.

https://coltswire.usatoday.com/2024/03/07/indianapolis-colts-2024-nfl-draft-top-30-visit-chris-edmonds/ More of a box safety according to the article. -
I hope Kneeland makes it to our second. I doubt it but still hopeful.

Deep class of FA safeties for Colts

Yeah this market blew up the past few days. I still hope we can get McKinney from the Giants. With more options his proce drop might of dropped a little bit. -

Brock Bowers or Quinyon Mitchell

One thing about both players vs Bama. Thomas should of had two more TDs that season from that game alone. It was a Alec Pierce type game. He wasn't looked at when he was open. One was a crosser. He completely beat his cb and the lb. The second one was the exact route Piece ran against the Texans early in the season. Split the safeties and his cb was way behind him. For Mitchell, this is actually most games, I want to see him use that 4.3 speed. Listening to locked on colts yesterday (Mondays episode) and during an interview he said he only ran his routes at 70%. Makes sense to because you don't see 4.3 speed on tape. Might be why his routes, cuts, and fakes are so smooth. Dude never slows down (or went full speed) during his routes and he was beating people that way. I'm warming up to BTJ the more I look into it (practically forcing myself to see it). I think Coach Wayne can make him into something decent. Mitchell is still who I want. -

I'd say zero chance we trade up. More of a chance they're doing their due diligence incase he falls to us. Him an Pittman together would be kind of odd in today's game. They're both a couple of tough bullies. New age smash mouth. -

https://coltswire.usatoday.com/2024/03/03/indianapolis-colts-nfl-draft-rome-odunze-meeting-combine-trade-up/ Putting this here because it states the Colts spent some time with him at the combine. Idk how much I'd give in a trade up for him, but would love him on the team. -
I'm really trying love him like most, but can't seem to seem to see what everyone else does. I watched LSU vs Bama, Mizzou, Florida, and Florida st last night to get a feel for him. The first two because they had some good defenses and the last two because he had decent games according to the stat sheet. I can see some good. The speed to blow by a CB is there. Long strider. Can climb the ladder well. Not a body catcher. Been watching some Steve Smith and he goes on about plucking the ball from the air. He's got it. The bad I saw was mostly involving blocking and effort. He has about one good block in each of those games I watched. One where you can see him go in angry and drive the dude back. The you have some where he takes the play off. I saw twice against mizzou where, during designed runs for Daniels, Thomas just puts his hands up then looks to his right. His defender then gets to Daniels and helps bring him down. One was at the end zone where two defenders pretty much had him, but Thomas's block came in and cleaned it up. His routes need work and there were a few drops that hit his hands. This is just what I saw. I can see the measurable and speed, but I don't see him being the WR1 that will do so much better than Pittman. I see an upgrade to only Pierce. If we take a WR at 15 (Bowers, odunze, nabers, MHJ [duh], Latu, and Quinyon Mitchell are gone) then I'd like us to grab Adonai Mitchell. Mitchell can attack any part of the field with smooth route running and just as good speed. Only thing about him is Steve Smith says he is a 90% body catcher. Might be something but he also only had 1 drop last year, 0 the year before, and 7 total throughout college. This is who I think can be the WR1 everyone wants, and fairly soon. If there's better games I can watch on Thomas, or something that helped you guys love him as a prospect, please show me so i can join in on it. I'm just not atm.

Brock Bowers or Quinyon Mitchell

Bowers to me because putting top talent around AR is priority #1. I think that Mitchell will make it to our pick and be the best player available. It would not surprise me to have Mitchell be the pick, and I'd be thrilled. -

Powers Johnson would probably play right guard for a year or two at that lol
