  1. Especially if AR is going to be out the rest of the year. Might as well stick it out and wait for the draft. Makes no sense to go get a number 1 who isn’t going to be effective until 2024. Waste of draft capital and money IMO.
  2. Also this loss has overshadowed how great Brents was. 7 tackles, 2 PBUs, and 1 INT. He gave up the one TD to Kirk but I chalk it up to rookie growing pains.
  3. AR will be fine. I’d rather have his injury profile than Tua, who is 1 concussion away from an early retirement. But QBs get hurt early in their career. Watson and Burrow are two others that come to mind. I think he’ll be fine once he learns how to avoid contact so much. I’m not hitting the panic button yet.
  4. His system is outdated, but it wasn’t the issue today. With two rookie corners, they didn’t allow a single receiver to have more than 49 yards. And mind you they have Ridley and Engram. The problem with defense is league wide though. While the offensive game continues to evolve, defensive philosophies have stayed mostly the same. There is no Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan on defense. It’s all traditional 3-4 defenses or the standard soft zone Cover/2 4-3.
  5. He was doing what Wentz used to do and stare him down. I thought Downs was open a lot more. Also I don’t know if any TE got a single target today. The Jags new exactly what the Colts we’re going to do. Not run the ball and force the throws to Pittman. It’s like Steichen handed them over a script for the offense before the game started.
  6. Eben if Pittman is brought back you need more explosion. Our receivers aren’t separating down the field, which is killing the offense. That’s the issue with Pierce. That’s supposed to be what he’s good at but he doesn’t do it enough consistently, and he’s not good at working the intermediate part of the field so he ends up being one dimensional most times. You need a guy you can line up at the X and he’ll either run past the corner or catch the 50/50 ball when it’s single coverage.
  7. As long as there is fire on the field with the play demeanor, I’ll take it. Plus his play matches. You got guys on the team who are soft and then don’t make plays either. Jacksonville has done exactly what Tennessee did. They’ve built a tough, physical football team. Walker over Hutchinson was a mistake but they got guys that chew glass over there. Ballard’s teams have almost always lost the worst to physical football teams. If we ever played the Lions, it’d be like 42 to 28.
  8. Nah I’m believing it too now. Pierce is trash. He’s soft and stiff as hell. Out of all our receivers, he’s got to be the worst at getting open. He’ll catch 1 big catch a game and then disappear. I watched the Florida State receiver on Saturday make a one handed catch in the middle of the field, and take a shot doing it. That’s what we need.
  9. That’s why I like Brents. He plays the way Zaire and Buckener do.Tough and like his hair is on fire. He’s not afraid to tackle and he’s always talking to the receiver afterwards. That’s what I like to see. I think we have too many Boy Scouts sometimes. Are two safeties are more like kittens, and I feel like every defense needs a hard nose safety.
  10. Again, Minshew forces the ball to Pittman. Downs could have had more yards if Minshew looked his way a bit more. But Downs is a rookie. I’m looking at how he looks out there and not just stats. I thought he ran great routes (especially on his TD) and he caught everything that was catchable. He gets open a lot each game. Pittman did what he usually does. Non existent in the first half, catch a screen pass for like 15 yards, make one big catch, and then catch a bunch of short-intermediate stuff where they scheme him open and rack up yards because the Colts are playing from behind. Last week with the lead he had 52 yards against an awful secondary. Against Baltimore who was missing Hunphries, he had 77 yards but 34 of them came from that one pass in OT, so in 4 quarters he had a whopping 43 yards receiving. Again, it wasn’t a great game for Pittman. He didn’t dominate or take over the game. He got over 100 yards by just stat padding basically. Downs has less yards and catches for sure, but I thought he looked better.
  11. The Jags weren’t worried about Pittman lol. He was no threat. -1st half he had 2 catches -Then the 3rd quarter once we were already down 31-6 he had a 40 yd catch and a 7 yard catch on the TD Drive -Next drive 1 catch for 15 yards. It’s all there if you look at the Play-by-Play. He didn’t do much until the 3rd quarter when the Colts were only passing. Jags sat in a soft zone and just didn’t give up the big play, which is perfect since that’s not really what Pittman does. He had 14 targets and not because he was always open, but because Minshew was forcing the ball to him (which is on Minshew not Pittman).
  12. Downs consistently got open though, which he’s done all year. Pittman wa show normal subpar self. Thrived once they went to the prevent defense
  13. I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Whenever the defense is struggling and he starts to make plays, the whole team comes alive. Once he started putting stuff together against the Rams in the second half, the defense was noticeably energized.
  14. All garbage time stats because we were playing from behind basically all game and had to throw.
  15. Good: -Brent’s even with he PI and TD given up, is the best player in the secondary. -Downs continues to impress Bad -Minshew was awful -Receivers except for Downs were awful -Defense took away the top receiver for once but still gave up 37 -Why do we keep throwing contested catches to Pierce? He’s like 1/7 on those throws -Steichen: Where was the run game? You have Moss and JT. The Titans run defense is way tougher than the Jag’s so idk why he changed strategies Biggest takeaway: This offense is screaming for a down the field playmaker. Not that Minshew would have delivered them the ball, but even the announcers were saying how 1 dimensional we are. I already feel like it’s draft season smh. They need MHJ, Odunze, or Coleman to become available today because these receivers aren’t it. Pierce is a bust. The new Parris Campbell. One big catch a game and then dissapears.
  16. After what I saw yesterday, give me Rime Odunze or Keon Coleman. Let Pitt walk and get a more explosive receiver for AR. This upcoming draft class is loaded with true X-receiver types.
  17. Is this the link you’re referring too? https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-midseason-all-america-team-michael-penix-jr-dallas-turner-2023 Weird you couldn’t post. It’s one of their free articles too. Also funny that Harrison didn’t make the list. But it’s 100% stat based so I get it.
  18. Colts should pass. Jeudy is unmotivated, injury prone, and has character issues galore. Look up what he said to Steve Smith during the Chiefs game last night. If anything, we should go after Sutton.
  19. Everyone here is obsessed with the idea of getting MHJ lol.
  20. Didn’t realize all the injuries have been at Lucas Oil. The one at the Jags game you can’t connect to the turf though. It was his ankle and he wasn’t even actually injured.
  21. Nah we don’t need to do that. Let’s also pause in the injury prone thing. I remember people on this board telling me that Campbell wasn’t injury prone and just had a lot of bad luck. Last year he played a full season. Might just be terrible luck.
  22. I think he should reach out to Lamar and Hurts. See what they do to prevent themselves from being injured on every rush.
  23. Good: -Downs is becoming exactly who I thought he could become. Starting to show traits of an elite slot receiver -Minshew for the win -Franklin is a top 5 LB in the league -MOSS -Fries looked good Bad -Richardson has to figure out the health thing -Secondary giving up too much stuff underneath This defense is better without Leonard is one of my biggest takeaways. Love what he’s done for us, but he should be a healthy scratch when he’s healthy.
  24. Another guy to add to the list is Xavier Leggett from South Carolina. 6’3” 227 lbs. The comp I heard on the NFL stock exchange was DK Metcalf. I’m going to watch him today, but he currently leads the country (all of CFB if I’m not mistaken) in receiving yards (606). Averaging almost 19 yards a catch. So far the guys I like the most for the Colts in this offense are Coleman and Odunze. Need guys that can consistently separate.
  25. You should come to just expect Shaq to be on the injured list every week.
