  1. it's extremely tough to really see what is going on watching the game on line, but i thought the line played pretty well. they were getting good pressure, but all the secondary was absolutely terrible! palmer was getting rid of the ball fast to open recievers and took hits right after releasing the ball.

  2. i always liked bp and think he is one of the best gm's of all time. he made some bad draft picks, but a lot of great ones. the colts wouldn't be where they are if he didn't. i have always said he payed too much to keep older free agents, but i think the owner may have had a lot to do with this. i also think it was a bad decision to hand things off to his son, that's all on him. i didn't like dungy and his small fast defense. say what you want, but gm's have to get players that fit the schemes of the coaches. did bp or irsay want to stick with dungy? i don't know, but i think that was a big mistake.

at the end of the day, he has made losing teams into winning teams everywhere he has been the gm. you can put bill parcells in that same category.

  3. Hence the 33% of teams using it that Dustin mentioned. And they do not use PFF as the total and absolute gospel, but they do reference it.

seems like you agree with him, so can you post something from a gm saying they use pff to back up your post?

Hmm... and where did I say that exactly? Dustin stated 33% of teams reference them, that does not mean the GMs do. It simply backs up the point that there are plenty of substance behind PFF analysis. Certainly not 100% full proof but they use the most advanced analytics and couple that with actual qualitative evaluations as they spend there entire time watching film.

Why do you feel so inclined to demean them? They do good work, and professionals have acknowledged as much, not everyone's thing, but do not act like it is baseless.

"33% of teams reference them, that does not mean the GMs do" what does this mean?

i haven't said anything bad about them, just that teams don't use them to rate players.

  4. The ONLY outside source that has ever directly benefited our contract negotiations with NFL teams. Pro Football Focus has literally helped us put dollars directly into our clients' pockets. Knowledge is power, and the power of tracking every single player on every single snap of every NFL game is absolutely immeasurable. — Dave Butz (SportsStars Inc.) NFL Agent

    :)

i am sure you can also post the quotes from a couple current gm's that say they use pff since you said 33% use them. this should be easy to to.

  5. You continue to call things foolish without any basis for doing so. You think agents do not use PFF in contract negotiations? Go do your research and you will discover different. It is the only comparative analysis that can be used to weigh a contract proposal versus what peers with similar numbers receive.

he didn't say a agent wouldn't use pff, they would try anything to get their player the most money. he said the gm would disregard those type of ratings from websites. they are going to rely on their own staff of scouts, that's why they have them and some teame do better than others. if teams were using websites for scouting information, you wouldn't have some teams doing better than others in talent evaluation. they would all do the same thing.

  6. The usual. Arrested on a battery charge, trouble with the law.

He's a good returner though. 26.5 average and 7th in the NFL. Not a great pure running back but on screens he's explosive.

Originally drafted last year by Pittsburgh in the fifth round, Rainey, played in all 16 games, totaling 26 rushes for 102 yards and two touchdowns and 14 receptions for 60 yards. He also returned 39 kickoffs for 1,035 yards (26.5 avg.) and three punts for 16 yards. His kickoff return average ranked fifth in the AFC and tied for seventh in the NFL.

that's better than trent richardson's ypc and he returns kicks. i can't believe we got him without giving up a #1 pick. maybe the colts can trade richardson back to the browns or another team for for a low 1st round pick.

  7. Trich's problem seems to be simple vision.  That will probably take sometime to learn maybe being behind Brown and being used as a third down back will give him a chance to learn that.

i have said this from the start, rb's ether have it or they don't. they don't learn it in the nfl. some backs just happen to go to a team with a very good line that makes it look like they have learned to find the hole.

We are going to feel this in the draft I think.  We really need another WR and you normally find those kinds of guys like we need in the first round.  If not a WR we could use another o-lineman for sure but then again you can sometimes find those guys in rounds past the first round.

    sure are!!

  8. having luck at qb is covering up mistakes made by the front office. if luck weren't here and the colts were losing, posters would be destroying some of the moves that have been made and you would be seeing all the "trust in grigson and pagano" posts.

i don't think hughes fit the 4-3 system, and he wasn't given much of a chance to see what he could do in the new 3-4. bp was hoping he could add some size and become another mathis or freeney, but it wasn't going to happen.

  9. Yeah, I won't say he was worth a first round pick.  I'm good wit hthat. Like I said above, people diss on the guy like he's the only problem.  And that drives me nuts.  He's got bad vision.  He's not explosive.  Brown runs well behind the same OL.  It's as if ONLY trent is the problem.  At least that's how most fan make it seem.  And it's just not true.  Our interior OL blocking has got to be pushing the limits for worst C/G combo in the NFL.  It's that bad.  But people blame our interior blocking on Trent.  Our interior OL sucks about as bad as Trent at this point.

all the people's opinions (including myself) about not liking the trade at the time it was made, was because of giving up a #1 draft pick. then people started looking at him as a player with clevland and his first games with the colts. THAT is when people (including me) started questioning his ability as a rb. i have not seen anyone say richardson was the only problem, or that the line wasn't a problem.

  10. this isn't a great team that can dominate opponents yet and may never be. those teams may never happen again with the salary cap the way it is. have a little patience and be happy the colts are winning. we are lucky to have a qb that can perform in the clutch and pull games out that other teams would lose.

  11. I'm not going to go back and forth with you about how bad the ravens O-line is, plenty of posters here have said the ravens line is terrible, we'll just have to agree to disagree

you are missing the point. i never said you were wrong about their line.

my point is. you said rice had bad lines last year and this year, but he had a good year last year and a bad one this year. it has to be more than just the bad line play.

  12. If anyone watched the bama game tonite there was one play that really stood out to me. They were in a 4 receiver 1 back set. Looks all the way like a pass play. Defense opens up and they hand it off to yeldon for a 6-10 yard gain, can't remember exactly. Anyways it was just a well designed play that we should run more often. They also did a lot of outside runs and dump offs that really got both of their backs going early on.

now we should run college plays in the nfl. let's get rid of luck, get a option qb, and instal the wishbone, that will get tr going.

  13. He'll never be a 1,500 yard back because Luck is the QB will still be a passing team. Something like 1,200 yards 4.3 ypc, 10 TD's for the next 4 years  with a low salary.

no, that's just above average. i would rather take a chance on a player falling in the 1st round or a top guard with the pick. you could get lucky with a later round pick on a rb like the colts did with ballard and would be much cheaper.
