  1. I realize that it is difficult to be a fan who does not live in Indiana; but, no, you should not be the one complaining.

You always have the option of going to a local sports bar that has coverage of every game.

Even that would be denied to those living in a blackout area.

sports bars absolutely suck to watch a game with no volume and/or another games audio.

the same can be said to anyone that is blacked out. why not drive to a bar that is outside the blackout area? it's only one game, not most of the year.

  2. The game will blacked out as far north as Ft. Wayne because they are considered in the local market even though it is out of the 75 mile radius.

those are the breaks. i live in md and almost never get to see the colts unless it's a national television game. i should be the one complaining, no?

  3. The leasing contract shouldn't include the option to block those same taxpayers the opportunity to view the game if all the tickets aren't sold.

Why should someone who lives all the way in Ft. Wayne have to travel over 100 miles to watch their home team play?

Not to mention the price of tickets compared to average income is ridiculous all while there is no option to lower the price.

that's a nfl policy. teams can't change it when negotiating any deal with a city or state.

    i don't understand the 2nd part.

you think you have a right to live 5 miles from your home team?

if you don't make enough money to afford something you don't buy it, just like everything else.

  4. Not quite accurate. The NFL as a whole brings in more than $8B, but most of that money gets distributed to the teams, which pay state and federal taxes. The NFL is considered a non-profit, basically a facilitator for the individual franchises. It's worth arguing whether the NFL should be considered a non-profit with tax exempt status, but the NFL isn't getting a free pass on all the revenue that's generated.

exactly, now i don't have to type this out. i will add that a lot of the nonprofit money is payed in salaries, so it is taxed as income. it makes a good headline for politicians and media with a agenda, but there isn't much behind it as usual.

  5. Then they need to build their own stadium. I'm not sure how much taxpayers paid for the Luke, but they should have some say in what goes on there.

why should they? if someone said they would build your dream house for you and a job for a 20 year lease at $1 a year, would you take it? it's a free market for everyone.

  6. big, cheap, high definition tv's and high prices have hurt attendance at games. but don't worry, the nfl is going to come after those peoples money also with pay per view. could people chose not to pay and have a generation of kids not growing up watching "free" football and kill their fan base? could greed kill the golden goose? decisions in the free market, love this country!

  7. so much complaining about free markets and public funded stadiums. the nfl has a right to televise it's games or not, and to set ticket prices and policies for whatever reason it decides. fans have the right to buy tickets or not. if people don't buy tickets the price will come down, that's how the free market works. as far as cities paying for stadiums, businesses are given deals all the all the time to entice them to relocate or stay. why shouldn't a sports team have the same option? indianopolis wouldn't even have a team if this didn't take place when the colts left baltimore. all of this is the free market working the way it's supposed to and what made this country the best in the world!! stop complaining.

  8.

I understand that that we have been lacking good CBs for awhile, that even Davis looks good.  If he is as good as some think, then give him a 1 year deal with incentives and see ho well he does. If he does well, then sign him to a longer deal

posts like this make me want to hit my head against the wall. he is good, and he will be getting a long term deal from someone.

  9. haha no we don't.

We have an Oline (G & C) to fix. Other than that, we simply need depth.

add inside lb and i completely agree. i want to go to cheaper options in the kicking game also.

love the avatar! a&e did the exact thing i said they would, cave in and reinstate him after they threatened to take their money and leave. i never watched the show until all this started. after watching a couple episodes, i won't be watching because i think it's boring but i support anyone's right to say what they believe.

  10. It's a lot of money, even if he were to play for vet minimum. But there's OTAs and training camp and preseason and weekly practices, the whole grind. A lot of players walk away when they can still play. Kicker is a different story, but it happens.

If it were up to me, I'd offer Vinatieri a one year deal for about $1.5m. That's a small premium for a veteran kicker, about a million more than what we'd pay a UDFA kicker. He's still a reliable kicker and he still comes through with the game on the line. But if he wants more than that, it's time to move on. It will eventually be time to move on anyways.

i tried to think of a top kicker that retired on top of his skills and couldn't. they want too much money for their skill set and decide to retire. i agree the rest. i would do the same with both kickers. i don't think it's wise to spend 6-7 million per year on kickers. i would be much more inclined to spend money on a fg kicker than a punter. a couple extra yards on a punt is extremely overrated.

  11. There's been virtually no drop off in his play, but based on his age and contract status, it wouldn't surprise me to see him retire. Especially if we find a way to win the SB.

kickers don't retire because they are old, they retire when their production diminishes and teams don't want them any more. there isn't any wear and tear on their bodies if they continue to play like other players. he will be playing with someone next year.

  12. obviously not the biggest need.

but with redding getting up there and he really should be a backup at this point, yes it is a need

the dline does ok.  but replacing redding is a must at some point sooner than later and we need better play from the nt position

i'm not ready to write off redding, and i think chapman has done ok at nt.

  13. our dline lets olinemen on our lbers constantly

i would be careful with these ratings.

so you think the d-line is a area of need?

ilb, db (because of games missed to injuries), and interior o-line are much bigger areas of need to me.

  14. Hughes was pick 31 , Angerer was pick 63 . Our first and second round picks.

Jones was Baltimore's 2nd pick in the 5th round. Selected at pick 157.

i don't really get what you are trying to say. There were 94 times that teams passed between Angerer and Jones. No idea of what Hughes has to do with taking Jones in the 5th .

Do you want to say we should have selected  him with our 4th round pick instead of McClendon at 129 ?

OK... I guess that's what we should have done. We also should have passed on Brody Eldridge in the 5th (same draft) and taken Antonio Brown who went to Pittsburgh in the 6th.

Do you want me to find a stud we passed on at guard or center next ?

exactly what i was thinking, but didn't think it was worth responding.

  15. Redding: +17.1 overall (10th), +0.2 rush (18th), +16.5 run (7th)

    RJF: +6.5 overall, -0.1 rush, +6.0 run

    Hughes: +2.0 overall, -0.3 rush, +2.2 run.

all three of them were strong against the run.

again this backs up my assertion that the colts d-line is not a position of need like may posters think. we can get the pass rush from blitzes as long as the d-line can occupy the o-line. boy would it be nice to have a big athletic inside linebacker for once!

  16. The problem is that he sometimes gets washed completely out of the play, and sometimes will go for quarters at a time without doing anything.

agreed. i think he is too small, just like i thought angerer was too small when everyone was saying how good he was. i do like freeman a lot more than the angerer of a couple years ago. i really didn't like angerer and remember all the arguments i had with posters that thought he was all pro material. freeman does make plays.

  17. I have a feeling Ballard has missed more games in 2 seasons than Brown has in 5. Health has often been held against Brown, and it's just a garbage label.

he has had minor injuries that have kept him out of some games and may have effected his running. the years (2011 and 2013) he has been injury free, he has performed very good (4.8 and 5.3 ypc). i don't think he will be expensive to resign, and the colts should do it. free agent rb's aren't a priority for teams.

  18. Abosolutely.  we also could of had Ryan Leaf and Ricky Willams

but that would mean bill polian actually made key, great decisions as gm that made the colts a top team for over a decade. don't tell that to the bp bashers here.
