yup, just probably not as good as runner.
And I'm good with that.. Having mobility around the pocket and making good throws out of it is all I need to see.

If Tua, Burrow, and Herbert weren't all potential top 10 guys, I'd say Love would absolutely top 15.
I would have never taken Allen at 7.
I wouldn't have either.. Love is a MUCH better passer than Allen was, in college, WITH the physical attributes. Given the whole package of what Love could become, I'd be shocked if he makes out of the top-15, and even more so if the Colts passed on him. He'd have to fail miserably in January/February, or injury, for him to fall into the 2nd.

I'd put heavy money on that

12th-40th. I don't see a situation where he makes it past mid 2nd.
If he continues to look good tonight, and does well in the Senior Bowl, he'll go mid 1st.
If Josh Allen can go top-10, Love will be highly considered in the top-15 if he performs well in the next 2 months.

If we keep bagging on Jacoby for not elevating guys around him we do have to do the same with Love.
No.. Their situations aren't even close to being the same. Jacoby is playing with professionals, Jordan is playing with guys that probably wouldn't make the XFL.

I hope Jameis Winston hits FA somehow, I think he would be legit. He may throw 20+ picks, but he'll also get you 5000 yards and 30+ TDs, gotta take the bad with the good. Plus, maybe Reich can refine his craft. Draft a high end WR to go with what we've got and I think we would be formidable.
I've actually been wondering the same. He's done pretty well with Arians, but with Arians the TO's will spike due to how Arians likes pushing the ball down the field. I think Reich would tone Winston down some but still have a more aggressive outlook with him like he did with Luck. I wouldn't be upset if it were to happen, but I don't know if Tampa lets Jameis go with how he's done this year.

Like the others have said, Hurts is a really interesting pick. We see how most of the good young QBs these days can all run, and run well. This isn't the age of the pocket passer anymore, so it might be time to get with the program and grab a good, dual threat QB. Just my 2 cents
Huh? The top 15 QB's statistically are all primarily pocket passing QB's. Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Rodgers, Prescott, Wentz, while being mobile in the pocket, are not running QB's. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are really the only 2 QB's used in actual running situations continuously.
Sorry, but there are no Lamar Jackson's in this draft and Hurts isn't the answer either. A) I don't want to see an offense rebuilt into something that isn't sustainable. Eventually LJ will have to sit his * in the pocket. B) Every time I see Hurts' name pop up I wonder if people have actually watched him. There is a reason he couldn't cut it at Bama, and got beat out by an actual passing QB. I don't think there are going to be many teams who are going to rebuild their offense for a guy who can't read a defense, nor progress beyond his first/second read before he's wanting to just take off running. Hurts wouldn't even be on my board just due to him not being a good passing QB.

except it's been proven our D tanks without Turner because he is such a force at protecting the rim. JB isnt helping us in any way there is no comparison at all
That's actually not true. The Pacers have proven they can win without him. They are 33 and 20 without him since he's been a Pacer. Sabonis even has a better defensive rating than Myles does this year AND can actually score and rebound as well. I don't think it's much of coincidence that with Sabonis getting starter minutes he's EASILY shown he's the all around much better player.
The comparison?
4 years in the league(s) and still pretty much the same players they were in college, probably wouldn't get much in a trade for either one, and both are making ~18M this year. It doesn't get any more comparable than that... Myles' and Jacoby's ships have sailed. It's time to move on.

Perhaps a team has shown a lot of interest in him.
I would bet there are a good handful that have a lot of interest in him in the 1st, with the Colts being one of them.

With it being almost impossible to make the playoffs this year, I wanted to look ahead to the offseason. Here is my first mock draft for our Colts. I haven't included Free Agency into this yet. I do hope Ballard is able to get a prized player this coming offseason in FA though. Perhaps if a certain Chiefs player were to come available (Chris Jones), Chris would be willing to shell out money for a huge position of need for a young impact player.
On to the mock draft...
Round 1 Pick 15: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
I would be giddy if Ballard landed Lamb in the draft. He would give this team a superstar at WR for the future and would greatly help out Brissett, Love, and the other WRs due to the attention he will demand. My favorite WR in this class.
Round 2 Pick 3: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Round 2 Pick 15: Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State
Round 3 Pick 15: Michael Pittman Jr., WR, USC
Round 4 Pick 15: Cam Akers, RB, FSU
Round 5 Pick 14: Logan Stenberg, OG, Kentucky
Round 6 Pick 9: Julian Blackmon, CB/S, Utah
Round 6 Pick 15: Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic
Round 7 Pick 15: Rodrigo Blankenship, K, GeorgiaLove will have to go into the draft with a broken throwing arm for him to go in the 2nd. I'm pretty sure his reasoning for declaring was because he was given 1st round grades by NFL scouts/personnel.

you mean being one of the top defensive players in the league?
He's not even near the top for big's in the league let alone player(s). A couple blocks/g don't equate to being a "good" defensive player just like JB completing a few 20+ yard passes doesn't make him a "good" passer. However, you'll make excuses for one but trash the other..

Oklahoma is going to beat LSU and then Ohio St, Hurts going to win it all and bama fans are going to be eating crow.
The same Oklahoma that got beat by KState? The same Oklahoma that struggled against Baylor.. twice? That Oklahoma? Hurts is a bum and got booted from Alabama because he couldn't win a big game. I don't see that changing..

sure but you would love it if we gave JB another 2 years or so to develop too lol
Do you mean like how you, and the rest of the Myles fan club, want to give Myles Turner more time to develop after the 4, roughly average, years he's had?

I'd prefer to have Zack Moss, RB, Utah for that between the tackles guy that has been used frequently as a receiver too.
Or JK Dobbins... Bigger version of Hines and can handle 20+ carries a game

They are smallish, not smurf but they aren't that stout. Certainly a top 20 talent for teams that need that player. But both seem best suited as a replacement for TY, which I think is too soon for that.
There are always smallish fast guys coming out of the drafts.
They are both ~6'2 at 195'ish. Ceedee looks like he's closer to 200. Regardless, when does a kids weight mean ANYTHING when it comes to talent and producing? They are 19/20 year-old kids, they aren't done growing, and will get bigger if the choose to..

I don't even like either WR, so I wouldn't pick either even if they dropped to our third rounder.
I personally don't want a receiver in round 1 this year, but if Luck were still QB it would be intriguing. They are top-20 NFL talent for a reason, opinions aside..

So did Kaepernick
Kaepernick wasn't close to what Mahomes was as a passing QB in college. -

How much of Mahomes hype was because he had a famous father. Not that he wasn’t good but I am sure that might be part of why he got more attention.
I'm pretty sure MOST people had no idea Mahomes father was a MLB pitcher until it was said when he was drafted. The kid had serious arm talent in both baseball and football, and that's what caught the "professionals" attention.

The Titans are playing the best football in the AFC South. I think they win the division.
I thought to myself last year, when they picked up Tannehil, if he gets his chance over Mariotta that Tennessee team will be much better. I don't think Tannehil is a top-10 guy, but given better than he had in Miami, he could be very serviceable. I agree, I think Tennessee could end up winning the division.

I hope to god they dont spend anything to get broke down Cam Newton, that's a horrible move imo. I'm sure he's better than Brissett, but a lot of dudes are. I say either draft a guy or look for a better QB in FA. I really like Jalen Hurts with the way the league is moving towards mobile quarterbacks that can still throw, and he will be available with probably either of our 2nds, leaving us our 1st to improve another position. Something like 1-DT/OL 2a-Hurts 2b-WR 3-BPA of need
But he really can't. Don't let his play in the B12 fool you. He got ousted in Alabama because he couldn't pass, Alabama went full pro-style for Tua, and the rest was history for Jalen. He plays in a predominantly spread/first read offense, and if his running lanes aren't there right away, everything goes down hill for him. Mobile QB's help, but it's still a heavy pocket passing league, and I don't think many teams are going to rebuild their offensive schemes for this guy. He will more than likely have to adapt to a pro-style offense, and that's where I think his value drops off immensely.
LSU, like Georgia 2 years ago, is going to expose him IMO..

I don't like Hurts. He's way too much like Brissett as a pocket passer and suffers the exact same drawbacks. With some of them he's even worse. He's slow isolating and eliminating reads, he locks onto receivers, he stares down receivers, he has trouble going through progressions. When he leaves the pocket he drops his eyes and becomes a runner. He's a good runner but he's not an elite runner(Lamar) and the collisions he has on some of his runs are scary. I have no idea how he will stay healthy if he continues to do that with stronger and faster defenders around him and he needs to continue to do it because he's not good enough in the pocket to drive a good offense.
IMO the team that drafts him needs to go 100% building around his strengths(running) and just pray that he doesn't get hurt. I personally wouldn't draft him.
He literally just learned how to throw the football this year. Alabama went to a heavy pro-style offense for Tua, and that left Hurts WAY behind and out of Alabama. So, of course he's going to look good in a spread/first read type of offense and playing within the B12. If his first read is gone and he can't run, everything goes down hill in a hurry for him. LSU is going to expose Hurts pretty badly IMO.
Sure, people will point to Lamar for a comparison, but Lamar was GREAT for 3 years, and was already a good passer. However, I'm not sure how many teams will want to completely rebuild their offense to make him comfortable and make it as easy as possible for him to play QB in the NFL.
I wouldn't draft Hurts with any of our late picks...

Yeah, by ranking the overrated Big Ten teams higher, the committee keeps that narrative going, IMOLol and the SEC wasn't? The SEC is still playing FCS schools.. Ohio State's win metrics are better than LSU's, but I guess now Ohio State will have to go beat Clemson. Oklahoma isn't that good so LSU shouldn't have a problem with them.
