I'm still not sure why he would not want to transfer to a better program after his sophomore year.  Other top QBs did it.

Fields was granted a waiver to transfer due to the situation he had at Georgia. Burrow and Hurts were graduate transfers. You can't just transfer and expect to play the following year. Had Love transferred, he would have had to sit out a year. They are tightening up the transfer rules even more for next year and beyond.

    You said 'limit'. NCF didn't.

I think what he's saying is that 'bama players could be much closer to a finished product at draft time, while players from other schools may have a lot more, yet to be realized, potential.

    Just my 2 cents.

Most of the top tier programs are like that though. Ohio State and Clemson also stand out with Alabama as well.

I don’t watch much college ball but I do like your point, and I strongly agree, that both cases can mutually exist. I will say, I think it takes a better QB to make receivers look good than the other way around. A wide receiver can run all the right routes and beat the coverage but the QB still has to read the defense and make the proper throws while trying to be killed.

the question always will be for a top program like Alabama, can the kids develop even better in the pros? At least you’re starting with a solid level floor with these kids. Not like a diamond in the round with some tiny receiver out of Florida international university if you know what I mean.

as a side mental note for myself and nothing to do with this topic, could you have imagined this team with Marvin, Wayne and TY Hilton and Manning. Dang!!

Bama has been off the charts lately with developing WR talent. I really wouldn't be surprised if their top 3 don't all go within the first 40 picks. Waddle won't be long after them either. However, I still believe Tua raised their game that much more and really put them in a great position succeed at the next level.

If we cannot suck enough for Trevor Lawrence, I'd keep a close eye on Tanner Morgan of Minnesota, his improvement in consecutive years is up there with Joe Burrow, Russell Wilson, RG III and Kerry Collins.

His emergence is dramatic enough to be noticed:

I'm going to watch a lot of Kyle Trask next season. Big kid, big arm, mobile, and efficient. I think he could end up being the Joe Burrow of this year, next year.

Does anyone get concerned that it’s hard to evaluate him with all the stars he has at WR. I need to go watch some videos on him. But he has a ton of talent to throw to. There is a chance he drops. I wouldn’t take him just because of the injuries he has had. It’s going to take a really good scout to really break down if he has a ton of talent or it’s all the WR.

Was Peyton great or was it because Marvin, Reggie, or Dallas were great? There are point in times where both can mutually exist.

Do you think those 3 guys would be where they are today if Jalen Hurts was still trying to throw them the ball? I HIGHLY doubt it... Tua helped elevate all of those guys to where they are now. If it were just the receivers being that great Hurts is still the QB for Bama right now and you would have NO IDEA who Tua Tagovailoa was.

Dak isn't elite, but he is much better than Brissett.

I'd be in favor of Foles.

Foles isn't happening. The earliest Jax could get out from him is after 2020, and they still would take a 12.5M dead cap hit.

After analyzing the QBs, their supporting casts, and results, I believe the best QB the Colts could draft in their spot is Jake Fromm.

You do realize Fromm has arguably the best OL in the nation, 5 star wideouts, and is possibly the worst passing QB of the group. He hasn't had a game where he's completed more than 50% of his passes since the beginning of November. No wonder Justin Fields got out and away as fast he could. Kirby playing this guy and then dedicating more to the run game says a lot about Fromm.

Not this argument again about mobile QBs as if it is something new. I seem to recall 1986 Randall Cunningham on the cover saying "Robo QB".  The future of the NFL.  Then Michael Vick.  They always claim mobile QBs are the way the NFL is, yet every year the guys better at throwing from the pocket always rule.  Andrew Luck was a pocket passer who could run.  I expect Lamar Jackson to last 2 years and defenses will figure him out.  See RGIII.  So predictable.

Again, I would rather have Josh Rosen over Jordan Love any day.  how many times do physical, mobile, inaccurate QBs fail in the NFL?

    The irony...

Josh Rosen - physical, mobile, inaccurate QB

Much like Manziel, he's an entitled *, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who thought he would come in with some status and be given a job. That's working out fantastic for him, just like it did for Manziel.  I think I'd rather see the Colts pay JB 18M/yr than get Rosen for free.

That isn’t the whole list.  Tua wasn’t listed because he’s not likely to fall to the Colts.    The list is QB’s who might be under consideration by us.

I think you might want to re-read the first couple of paragraphs as another poster pointed out, it's referring to starting QB's in bowl games. Since Tua isn't playing, that's why he's not on the list.

Both of you should stop posting about things you don't know about.

    1.  Bama fans will not be eating crow if Oklahoma wins.  Alabama fans love Hurts and the vast majority of their fans will be cheering for Hurts to win.

    2.  Hurts is not a bum, he is a very good college QB and an outstanding person.  Saban did not boot Hurts from Alabama.  Hurts made the decision to leave Alabama so that he could start for another team, just like J. Fields did by the way.

Haha.. someone's a little butt hurt

I completely disagree, but whatever. Good Samaritan aside, he lost his job to a freshmen in the biggest game of his life , got shelved away, and yes, then decided to leave. Semantics. Either way, he couldn't cut it at Bama.

As far as Fields, he probably realized that Kirby wasn't going to go away from Fromm and found his way out. I believe had Fields stayed, he'd probably be the starter in Georgia right now and they would be in the CFP. There is a significant difference in talent, and situation, between Fields and Hurts. Beating up on trash Big12 defenses, in a gimmick offense, doesn't impress anyone.

Love played well this game but it was against 7-6 Kent State. We have to keep this in perspective. He struggled against LSU and did throw 16 INT. He’s going to need to sit a year and develop more of his game.

You're missing context in your perspective. It's been widely noted by @stitches and @EastStreet why Love hasn't had the year he had last year. The team, specifically the talent on offense, took a huge step back this year. I can't remember their defense ever being this bad either. I would take what he's done this year with a grain of salt. He'd step into a really good situation in Indy with that OL and running game on top of pairing him with Reich. I wouldn't be surprised at all, if he were taken, that he could come in and push for the starting spot by the start of next season.

Both of those guys have pretty decent vision. Watson better than Winston. Everyone misses an open guy occasionally, but both Watson and Winston progress through reads and rarely have multiple guys running open that they miss. And both, while scrambling a lot, still have better time to throws than JB. If Winston would just clean up the INTs, he'd be one of the better QBs. He just refuses to stop playing hero ball. He thinks he can make any throw whenever he wants.

Eh. I think that's more of the byproduct of playing within Arians' offense. Luck and Big Ben both had +margin turnovers playing within his system. I think playing within a system like Reichs, like with Luck, his INT's (risk throws) would go down.
