And the glaring hole at the 1? Atleast we have someone that can rush the passer. What we need is more mass to hold the line so our LBers don't get blocked.

You're the only person who seems to think that. There is no hole as Grover is undoubtedly the starter there and he's only getting better. Ballard isn't going to go out and pay for a position (1T) that is a low priority within this defense. This isn't the 90's or 2000's anymore.. the whole "mass" theory is obsolete. Besides, the Colts issues were still not being able to get to the QB when needed. They were giving up close to a league worst 70% completion percentage, getting and paying for another 1T isn't fixing that.

    1. Castonzo resigning.

    2. FA: Starting DT...

Don't like Epensea for the Colts scheme... Not enough athleticism(bend/twitch) to be a rush DE for the Colts. I think he would be great on the strong side (Sheard's side), which is predominantly where he played at at Iowa, but in the Colts situation, you don't draft that position in the top-15. I still believe he'll be better suited as a 5T in a 3 man front if he goes that early.

The one QB everyone is forgetting about is Taysom Hill of the Saints.  All three of their QB's are technically free agents.  Brees, Bridgewater and Hill.  They are up against the cap and will probably only be able to keep two.  Assuming Brees comes back then it's between Bridgewater and Hill and from what I've read Payton loves Hill.  He will need to be tendered a contract and teams could sign him away.  In fact I've read where they might tender him a contract that would require 1st rd compensation to them if he were to sign with someone else.  That tender is pretty expensive.  They have some decisions to make that might give us an opportunity at a QB no one is really discussing.

Are you seriously suggesting Taysom Hill?

The draft class next year might be worse. It’s not about reaching. If there is one there this year they are sold on you try and do everything to get them. Especially this year when you have that high second round extra pick.  There is no guarantee what next year will bring. You could be picking lower, there may not be a QB. There is no guarantee Lawrence or Fields comes out. We will never be in position to get them anyway.  So when you need the future you go get them if there is one your sold on.

Unless they get hurt, the are absolutely coming out.

I agree. I've commented on this scenario a few times. Several mocks have them passing on QB. They have enough draft capital this year to do almost anything they want this year or next.

    3X 1st round, 2X 2nd round, 2X 3rd round (assumes comp pick which will be at least 4th if not 3rd), 3X 5th round (assumes 1 comp), 3X 6, 1X 7th.

    That's 15 pics holy cow...

I'm not a huge Tua fan, so I'd personally wait till next year.

Carolina is the other I see not grabbing a QB this year either... With Allen or Grier at the helm next year, they will easily be bad enough for one of the top 2 or 3 spots as well. Cam is only a 2M dead cap hit for 20' if they release him, so I have to believe he is all but gone.

It's a cheap contract, so not really a big deal either way. And it's only for two more years (although the team has a 5th year option which won't happen). Fitzmagic is also on a cheap two year contract. The team even has an out for this year if they chose to use it.

IMO, if they bring in Tua, they will keep both Rosen and Fitz this year, as Tua will be on the IR to start the season if not all year. He could take a snap late in the year, but I doubt it as it will serve almost zero purpose.

In short, ride out the last year on Fitz's contract, keep Rosen one more year and cut/trade him next off season if they intend to start Tua and will re-up on Fitz.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Miami doesn't take a QB this year. I could totally see them trading back, stocking assets for next year, riding it out with Fitz, and being bad enough to get one of Fields or Lawrence next year.

    Rivers- retires

    Brady- Chargers

the other free agents sign where they are now including Brees and TB in NO

Foles is under contract, wonder if the colts make a run at him if hes released.  doubt they would trade him here

His dead cap makes him virtually unreleasable.. He'll have to be traded for.

The marriage is a terrible one, Winston in an Arians' offense.

Is it a co-incidence both Peyton Manning and Jameis Winston are #2 and #1 in the league for Ints in a given season both with Arians calling offensive plays?

Winston is far better than you give him credit for. He might need a change of scenery like Tannehill, IMO.

And to top it off, think that Rivers is going to fit with Arians? Rivers would be in a body bag before half the season was over in Arians' system.

From watching the drills, Austin Mack is very quick in and out of his breaks. But he has had a few drops which don't look good.

It's been his whole MO while at Ohio State. He'll make the absolutely ridiculous catches, but drop the routine easy ones. Urban shut him down for the majority of the season last year after the TCU game because he had 4 really bad drops.

I would think this year's 1st and next year's 1st would allow us to move from 13 to 4 in the draft, and we could keep No.34 and No.44.

I thought I seen someone do the 13 and 34 and it got the Colts in the top 7 or 8. I d rather do that and keep the first next year.

Love is a wildcard.  He could go top 10 or drop to the bottom of day 2.

I personally am leaning more towards top 10 or close to it.  In my experience GM's and coaches in the NFL are enamoured with potential which Love is dripping with.

The good news is, whoever we get as a rookie, I think we have the right head coach to prepare him.  He coached Carson Wentz his rookie year and his 2nd year and that went fairly well.

I agree with others in that I don't think New England nor New Orleans are letting him get out of the first round.

First time I am hearing about this. I'd happily take him at 13 if it makes him drop to 13(and if we don't like any QB at 13). I don't see any effects from his partying on game day so... let him party with Big Q if he wants.

It's one thing to party as a student, another to party as a millionaire NFL player. See Pacman...

I'm really not in favor of grabbing a WR this early beings this class is extremely loaded with talent, but he's probably the only one I'd be fine with if he was there.
