Yes, I was responding to you; I know what you said, but your answer had nothing to do with what I stated or the question I posed; because in an earlier post I specifically said "shutting out" an average team with a very good defense while starting a 3rd string QB .... and posed the question what other team could do this?  And you replied "numerous teams could've beaten NE tonight" which in no way is the same thing as how many teams could have shut out the Texans with their 3rd string QB.

Of course there are teams that could have beaten NE tonight ... but that wasn't the point.

I don't know if you are always so hostile over a non-Colts game, but you need to relax.

You responded to me first in this thread, junior.  Look back and reread carefully.  I originally stated this, as a response to nobody:

"Why are you people acting like NE just took out the 1985 Bears?  It is impressive that they won tonite with a 3rd string qb, but they hardly just beat a great squad:  Houston is a spectacularly average football team."

You see?  My commentary pertained to how bad the Texans are, not how good NE is.

If you wanted to go off on a tangent and discuss "how many teams could have shut out the Texans with their 3rd string QB?", you needed not to respond to me, as it had zero to do with my original comment.

    Reading comprehension, son.....learn it.

After watching the complete annihilation of the Texans tonight by the Patriots, and realizing that with a win this week at worst we'll be 1 game behind in our division after a 0-2 start, I wonder if anyone is feeling a little better about at least winning our division.  Sure, it's not anything to be too excited about, as we look like the same old AFC South, but it was the first chance I had to see this supposed Juggernaut Houston offense and as bad as we have played the Patriots, I don't believe we ever got whooped that badly, shut out by a 3rd team rookie QB making his first start with 4 days notice.

Of course, for the pessimists out there, there's plenty to talk about as well, such as New England winning their 5th Super Bowl with Tom Brady which sure looks more likely than not at this time.  They are simply better coached (and drafted) than anyone else.  They had their second best player Gronk only playing a handful of plays and several other key starters out in addition to Brady and currently have the best record in Football.  The NFC looks down this year (I mean, Seattle, Arizona, Green Bay, Carolina all look worse than last year and the Viking lost their starting QB AND their HOF Running Back but still might be the best team in the NFC. Cincy and Pittsburgh in the AFC looked discombobulated at times, but I expect both to fight it out for a first round bye in the end but New England sure looks like a huge favorite and even something like losing their starting (or in their case their first 2 QB's) didn't seem to phase them at all.

Yeah, I know, it's only week 2.... but New England had to put everyone on alert in the league that an angry Brady coming back against Cleveland is just going to be hoping on an already rollin' train.  If we can win the next 5 games (all should be winnable) we may be able to compete with everyone once we get our guys back each week over that stretch and be ready for a much tougher final 9 games.  San Diego may be the toughest game in that stretch and historically we play awful against them, but I feel much better seeing Houston humiliated and their confidence sunk.

    What do you guys think?

Who said this?  The only position of strength for them on offense is possibly WR, and this was known before the season began.  Brock Osweiller at QB?  Lamar Miller at RB?  Ryan Griffin at TE?  lol....those are hardly the players that a juggernaut offense would be made of.  Couple that with their below average OL.

Their offense has scored 3 TD's in 12 quarters.  It's about as bad as I expected it to be.

  3. 2 hours ago, GoDeep said:

Wow...Osweiler is trash.  The Texans spent a gajillion dollars on a back up QB...LOL!

He's not trash, but he certainly isn't good.  There's a reason that a championship organization was willing to let him walk.

Many of us pointed out that Hoyer was a superior qb to Osweiller last year, and that they would be worse off at this position this year.  Which they are.

Hey QuizBoy, I'm DVRing TNF right now since I hate commercials & love to fast forward them. When I do watch the game, I will give you my feedback on Brock OZ for your club.

If you win the division this yr. over us, I'll be okay with that just as long as Tennessee or Jacksonville doesn't get the prize. I don't mind losing to a worthy adversary like Houston just not a pretender franchise.

Why are you kissing some Houston's fans a z z on a Colts message board?  "If you win the division this yr over us, I'll be okay with that..."  WTH are you talking about?

Hang in there kid. You showed up asap too and at least take it well. Texans will be fine. It will come down to Colts and Texans games this year but I have no idea yet on the Titans.

    "Hang in there kid"?

What does this mean?  Is his life negatively altered because an entity he has no attachment to whatsoever except that he cheers for them in a football game, lost?  He actually needs strangers on a message board to cheer him up?  If so, that is beyond pathetic.  He literally should not give a crap about the outcome of this game no more than 5 minutes after it ended, else it's time for some serious introspection.  So save your self-righteous sympathy for someone who actually needs it, like those who are sick, lost loved ones, lost their job, etc.

I doubt there is any other team in the NFL that could have shut out the Texans 27-0 with a 3rd string rookie QB.

Are you responding to me?  I never said this.  I said that there are numerous teams, that are actually good, that could've beaten NE tonite.  Their victory tonite has much more to do with how bad Houston is rather than how good NE is

  7. 4 minutes ago, LJpalmbeacher said:

Lol, it took you 3 days to respond to my post, which so happens to be right after the pats embarrass the Texans on national tv.

A lot of teams are embarrassed by them, especially at home. Our colts have lost to them like a gazillion times in a row, and a lot of them were blowouts.

I hope your right, Texans sure looked bad tonight but playing vs pats is a throw-a-way game and can't judge crap by it.

Because I just saw it, guy.  You see any other posts by me in the last 3 days?

And have you even watched Houston this year?  I could've easily said what I said after they've struggled mightily on offense but stil grinded out home victories against the worst team in the league in Chicago, and a team playing without their best player in KC.

Their offense sucks, straight up.  Sucked before game 1, sucks now.  They have huge question marks at QB, OL, RB and TE;  how in the world could you ever say they are the 3rd best team in the AFC behind NE and Pitt?

I can't fathom how bad they would've lost tonite had Brady and Gronkowski played their normal roles.

Shutting out even an average team that has a very good defense, while starting your 3rd string rookie QB says something about a team ... even though it wasn't the "1985 Bears" ... How many teams you think could have done this?

There are numerous NFL teams that could've beaten NE tonite.  Houston in no way, shape or form was ever going to be one of them.  I had NE winning by double digits no matter who started at QB.  They are superior in every facet of football to Houston.

Texans will win division and do it easily.

Pats & Steelers probably only afc teams better.

What on earth are you talking about?  Houston has an incredibly low offensive ceiling and is the epitome of a mediocre NFL team.  The only way they win the division will be the same reason they have ever won the division:  if the Colts are ravaged by injuries.  And they still would only win it by a single game.

Saw where Trey Wiliams was let go.  I know a lot of people here liked him.  That bodes well for Ferguson IMHO.  They are basically similar players.  No reason to keep both.  I dunno which was better but we got what we got so let's roll with it.

What's not to like about an UDFA who rushed 8 times for 10 yards this preseason.  Looks like a future starter to me.

  11. 23 hours ago, King Colt said:

How is it preseason when for two quarters your starters are playing?  Based strictly on the first three preseason games the Texans will beat the Colts, the Jags and the Titans this year simply because they are better in talent and coaching. Osweiller was 11 for 13 with two perfectly thrown balls dropped. Solid D will contribute heavily and barring injuries they will get better as the season progresses The Texans HC is a winner and has built a contender. They played inspired ball against the Cardinals, a team that many say will be in the Super Bowl when both team had their starters in even though Carson went out when he got his bell rang but recall what Carson did against the Panthers last year in the NFC playoff game.

Exhibition games are completely and utterly meaningless as predictors for future success.  Did the Eagles win the Super Bowl last year?  No?  Well how can that be.....they were the best team in the NFL during the preseason;  Sam Bradford was playing at an MVP level.

If any of you think that the level of preparation, intensity, focus, mindset, effort for both players and coaches is even remotely the same for a preseason game as it is for a regular season game, I don't know what to say to you.

  12. I'm surprised at the players you people are surprised got cut.

Oh man.....Ricky Lumpkin got cut?!  The guy who didn't get drafted, has barely ever played a meaningful NFL snap, and got cut already by 2 other teams and was a complete ghost for the Colts during this preseason? Who'd of thunk it.

Wow color me surprised:  Trey Williams got cut?!  The 5-7 guy who didn't have the measurables to get drafted by any NFL team, and who tore it up this preseason to the tune of 8 rushes for 10 yards?!

I have him as our third TE, and I believe he will make the team. Can't rule out Chase Coffman. He has managed to stay working in this league for some time now.

    Tight Ends
    1 83 Dwayne Allen TE Clemson 6'3" 265
    2 84 Jack Doyle TE Western Kentucky 6'6" 267
    3 86 Erik Swoope TE Miami (FL) 6'5" 243
    4 80 Chase Coffman TE Missouri 6'6" 250
    5 44 Emil Igwenagu TE Massachusetts 6'2" 245
    6 49 Konrad Reuland TE Stanford 6'5" 254

I like your charts;  I think you should post these for every position.

Its hard to believe hes a rookie. He looks like a 5 year vet out there. Makes little to no mistakes, a pretty good route runner, drops pretty much nothing.  I would be shocked if he doesn't make the team.

One wonders, then, why he wasn't drafted by anyone?

  15. 54 minutes ago, 2006Coltsbestever said:

In 2013 he only had 9, how people overlook that is puzzling.

In 2014 he had 16, and then last year he had 12 while playing less than half the season.  Far more reason to believe he will have double digit int's than there is single digit int's.

And by the way, as someone has already said, if he throws 16 int's.....while throwing for 40 TD's and 4000 yards, I don't think anyone will complain about that.

Wow, this guy is only one player out of 90. Your going to whine about this dude like he was anything but a camp body at this point? Sorry you cant see the forest for the tree.

Except that this guy isn't a camp body;  camp bodies actually have a snowball's chance in hell of sniffing an NFL game.  This is a complete and utter waste of effort.

Grigson may as well have signed Usain Bolt;  then you all would probably be crowing about the plays that Chud could draw up utilizing his speed, and how he might be able to spice up our special teams.

I'm not so certain he'll even be a WR.  There's not much in his background in terms of experience to me.  Wouldn't be surprised if we are looking at his linebacker experience.    Can't do anything but speculate right now so we'll see.

I'll be beyond shocked if this guy ever see's a single snap in a regular season NFL game.

Now according to Josh Wilson his numbers were as follows at Delaware:

He first played collegiately at Connecticut, where he played linebacker from 2010-2011. In 2011, he appeared in all 12 games and recorded ten tackles. He then transferred to Delaware, where he made the switch to wide receiver. Between receiver and linebacker, Opoku appeared in 33 games and caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown while also recording 19 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked punt.

How do you appear in 33 games and catch only 4 passes?  Has more production to speak of at LB.  I think he's actually saying between his time at linebacker in Cincinatti and his time at WR at Delaware it was 33 games.  At WR he caught 4 passes.  Either way there doesn't appear to be much experience at WR.  Way more experience as a Linebacker.

Sweet!  There's the #4 WR we so desperately need after the inevitable injury to at least one of the three legitimate WR we have on our entire roster.

Excellent job in building our WR depth Grigs!
