Stop acting like one 3rd round draft pick drafted at another position would have magically been the game changer we need to have a better record than 4-5.  There's a whole big bucket list of reasons the record is what it is outside of talent.  The other reasons seem to escape the tongues of some our great forum members here and they stay stuck on one issue for some reason or the other.

Personally if I had to redo the draft I would have selected somebody else other than Morrison.   That pick right there wasn't the best use of resources to me, but whoever it wouldn't have been that we would have chosen outside of him still wouldn't be of any great impact this year to turn us into a 7-2 football team.

Nope, but, as my original comment stated, 6 better draft picks than the ones spent on these guys sure would've resulted in game changers and a division championship this season:  Werner, Thornton, Clark, Dorsett, Trent Richardson trade, DJoun Smith.

There may be no sure thing in the draft, but there are safe picks and NFL ready picks, we need early round picks that can make a contribution. We aren't in the position to gamble on a guy who may be elite down the road but could also yet be another high round bust. Especially when we have a history of high round busts and even more especially when we have a swiss cheese offensive line to begin with. This was a bad decision. I'm against drafting RB's high, but I'd rather take a 3rd round rb there just because of the high success rate in the 3rd at that position and our need there.

    This is spot on.

  3. Got it.  Draft "projects" like Clark in the third round, but immediate contributors who play the same position in Haeg in the 5th round.  Makes a ton of sense. No wonder the Colts are such a talented football team, as evidenced by their stellar record of 4-5.

    Heres a crazy idea.

How about we wait to see if the plan works with Clark before we decide its a failure?

If you're plan is to redshirt a draft position that should produce an immediate contributor.....your plan is flawed.

  5. As atrocious as this offensive line is, a 3rd round pick can't even log a single second of playing time.  You all think this was a wise draft pick?

There's a reason the Colts are 4-5 and look like garbage 2/3 of the time.  They are not a good team and they are not talented.  They are not talented because of their GM stupidly drafting guys like Dorsett and Clark, guys who can't contribute one iota despite having every opportunity in the world to do so.

Reminds of when people on here used every excuse in the book to explain why Bjorn Werner sucked and/or didn't play. Occam's razor.....the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.  All these guys don't play / look lost when they do play / aren't productive because......they aren't good.

  6. Another wasted early round pick for Grigson:

    Le'Raven Clark

    Bjorn Werner

    Hugh Thornton

1st Rounder that was traded for Trent Richardson

    Phillip Dorsett

    D'Joun Smith

No wonder we suck.....missing on that many early draft picks that you need to hit on in order to be any good.

  7. I can't believe that one of Houston, Indy or Tennessee will actually be a division winner and participate in the playoffs this year.  Just spectacularly mediocre football teams, each of them.

My main issue with Brock is that he has a very long throwing motion. I'm not going to say he can't be successful because I mean Phillip Rivers has the most unconventional throwing motion I've ever seen and he can sling it. However, that said typically guys with long throwing motions such as Brocks take longer to get rid of the ball...the defense gets a quicker read of where it is going...and it is typically not as accurate because of how hard it is to change the throw during release. All these things add up when windows are so small in the NFL. Honestly I thought he would fit well in this offense just like he did in Denver because it is a verticle threat offense and he has a strong arm more than capable of getting the ball down the field. It is not based on timing and these shorter more precise routes. That is why it is so frustrating watching these type of qbs because they can make these big chunk plays and deliver beautiful balls down the field and you fall in love....however the NFL today more than ever is about throwing the ball to keep the chains moving...tempo...short accurate passes to get yards after the catch (almost an extension of the run game). This is something that is harder for this style of thrower...so you fall in love with the big arm...the big plays (and with Hopkins and Fuller and Strong good reason too)...but when teams take that away (Minnesota, Denver, NE) defenses that are elite...that means Brock has to do what he struggles with...sharp short accurate passing to move the chains. It seems to me Houston isn't built for that. The funny thing is that his YPA is so awful it makes it look like his short throwing is all he is good at but its actually the opposite. Either he will have to improve this or Houston will have to live and die by the big plays like they did the first few weeks and in the two minute drill and OT against us. Brock has potential...but I don't think he will ever be a Tom Brady/Peyton Manning/Drew Brees. He is going to live and die with the big play imo. They need to get back to that and stretch the field..with a good run game they should be able to but like Quizboy said their OL is banged up so will he have time to do it. To early to tell but I prefer the qb that is a little more accurate and keeps that chain moving then a guy with such a big throwing motion that slings it ala Kap, Tannenhill, Oz. Still too early to tell at this point...but perhaps that also why you may not want to give 72 million as well. They rolled the dice...jury is still out.

You "don't think" Brock Osweiler will be a like 3 of the best qb's ever to play the game?  What else do you have......you "don't think" Lamar Miller will ever be like Walter Payton, Jim Brown or Barry Sanders?

  9. I wanted both of these guys gone, but wasn't that upset when they got resigned because their weren't much better options out there.

More and more I think Pagano is the weak link:  we've been in position to win every game this year, suggesting to me the talent isn't as bad as it's made out to be.  Sloppy, penalty ridden, undisciplined, unprepared teams are what I see each week, and that falls 100% on the head coach.  Not to mention he was supposed to be some sort of defensive guru, but the defense has been absolute garbage from the moment he took over.

  10. I can't ever remember seeing a worse starting unit in my life than this year's Colts lb corps.  Walden and Mathis are FA and will be gone.  I can see Jackson getting cut;  McNary wouldn't start on any other team in the NFL and will likely be out.  Nobody behind them even remotely looks like a legit NFL starter.

So, do they go LB in the first 2 rounds of the draft, and sign 2 starting LB as well?

  11. Ratings are down because the NFL is an inferior product.  People are losing interest in watching mediocre teams with half their roster injured/inactive battle it out every week.

Baseball playoffs and the NBA......teams play at a much higher level than any NFL team is capable of playing. College football is just more fun to watch.  All are a better option than the NFL come October.

  12. There is no reason whatsoever to think Osweiler will turn anything around.  He has not demonstrated at any time in his NFL career that he can excel at the quarterback position, which is what he is being paid to do. Bronco players discussed at length some of the glaring weaknesses that they know he has, in addition to the very obvious ones that we see as fans.  If other teams weren't already aware of these holes, they will be now.
