  1. I wonder how much background Perriman has in special teams? WRs 4-6 typically have to play ST for the Colts.
  2. Not sure where to find this, but if I remember correctly, Perriman had a hands issue coming out of college. A high percentage of drops. Don’t know if that has continued in the NFL? Can anyone confirm one way or another?
  3. Reich didn’t hire his friend. Strausser was hired on the very strong recommendation of the legendary Colts OL coach, Howard Mudd. That recommendation sealed it. I’m not even sure Reich and Strausser knew each other before CS was hired. The Mudd story came directly from Ballard.
  4. I like Freeland. I’m glad the Colts drafted him. The point I’m trying to make is that Freeland isn’t with the 1’s because he looks great. He was with the 1’s because Smith was out. Nothing Smarty Pants about it. I’m only trying to clarify for those who don’t know.
  5. I’m sure he did. He’s trying to drum up interest in himself and see if he can create a possible bidding war. Depending on what might be offered, Hopkins might have to decide between a bigger contract from a lesser team or a lesser contract from a better team who might make a deep playoff run that could be loaded with incentives. The Colts have so many young receivers, (WRs & TEs) in a year like this, I suspect Ballard and Steichen will want to play the kids to find out how good they might be.
  6. I don’t know for 100 percent certainty. But I’d say roughly 90-95 percent. The coach hasn’t said anything beyond normal soft tissue injury comments. Brents broke a wrist and had a procedure or two. But that was several months ago, long before the draft. The Colts said he’s sitting out now as a precaution because he can’t jam anyone. So there’s no point in playing him. He’s expected to be 100 percent good in late July when trading camp officially opens. Hope this helps.
  7. Hopkins doesn’t want Indy and I think the feeling is mutual. Not a good fit for right now.
  8. These are all minor. And it’s not uncommon for rookies to have these kind of minor issues. Many have either been playing or working out for more than a year straight. Their bodies are understandably fatigued. This is common across all 32 teams. It’s not just a Colts thing. Starting in mid-June, players will get about 45 days off. It’s badly needed and very much welcomed.
  9. He’s not as good as he used to be and he wants a lot of money. June, July and August are bad months to be asking for a lot of money.
  10. The reason he is still not signed is because he’s asking for more from the playoff quality teams than they have money to pay. Hopkins wants a deal like OBJ. But Beckham got that deal in Mid April when a few good teams had money to offer. Now the Calendar says June and the only teams that have that kind of money are the bottom 10 teams. The top 10 teams don’t have that kind of money. Hopkins has to decide which is more important…. Money or playing in the post-season? Getting both is going to be very hard.
  11. Freeland is getting first team reps because Smith is sitting out practice with a minor injury.
  12. He’s been officially cut. He’s a free agent now. So, no need to trade anything for him.
  13. Really? I confess I didn’t see this coming from you. I’m guessing you didn’t watch much late in the year because all the losing was so depressing. The name I’m going to drop is Zac Moss. He had a really good stretch with the Colts. He’s not splashy or flashy, but DAMN, he runs hard. Defenders pay a price for contact with him. Most posters here seem to like him. I’ve seen posters who don’t like Ballard say they thought this trade was a win for the Colts. Honestly, check out some YouTube clips and I think you’ll like what you see. I think as backups go, he’s really solid. Maybe not great, but certainly pretty good.
  14. I suspect there will be a few more moves like this in the next three months. This appears to be a solid move.
  15. I think this post by you is far, FAR more reasonable than your original post. The bottom line is the Colts have a lot of big question marks, a lot of unknowns. There are question marks all across the coaching staff. How good are any of them? There are question marks all across the roster. There are question marks on the Colts top players who have been injured. Nelson, Leonard, Taylor, Kelly. And there are question marks with all our draft picks and free agents. Way, way, WAY too many questions. And with so many questions, some of the answers are not going to go the Colts way. Im on record as seeing 7 wins. Could the Colts win more? Yes, but I think it’s unlikely. Could the Colts make the playoffs? I think it would take a near miracle even with an easy schedule. I think all 4 teams in the AFC East are better. I think all 4 teams in the AFC North are better. And I think 3 teams in the AFC West Are better. And I think JVille is the big favorite in the South. That’s 12 AFC teams that I think are better. So I think a path to the Wild Card is as small as possible. Perhaps not impossible, but a real long shot. All that said, I think the Colts long term prospects are really good. I like our future and I think AR is the kind of talent whose talent could make the Colts leapfrog over many of the teams in front of the Colts this year. Richardson could eventually be the Colts Mahomes, or Burrow, or Herbert, or Hurts. And if that happens — good times ahead!
  16. OK…. I understand that the less imaginative people are going to respond with the Dumb and Dumber meme “So you’re telling me there’s a chance…” It’s easy and requires no real thought on the subject. So go right ahead if it makes you feel “special”. Goodness gracious…..
  17. My initial reaction is yes. But that’s without knowing the specifics. What are the options and what are the costs? The answers might change my yes to a no. Currently, I watch most games at a local sports bar. The cost is zero. I’m not required to pay a fee or even buy food or drink. But I do and that’s fine. So again, the devil is in the details.
  18. I’ve been meaning to comment on this for a few days…. I really like the work that was done here. It’s not perfect, but it’s still really really good. And it’s fascinating to see the broad difference of opinions. It all goes to my view that we all see the same thing differently. That includes all of these evaluators, and all of us who are evaluating the evaluators. Here’s the flaw for me…. And it may bother only me. It’s one evaluator for each website. So ESPN has four to evaluators, but they only count Kiper. No McShay, no Miller, no Reid. NFL.com has countless evaluators, but only Chad Reuter counts. No Jeremiah, no Brooks. PFF has numerous evaluators, but only one is used. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s not enough to bother me too much. This was a LOT of work. This wasn’t knocked out in a few minutes, more like a few hours. So mad props to Rene Bugner. A tip of my cap to him.
  19. You don’t have to convince me Roseman is good at his job. I literally said so in the post you felt necessary to respond to. He’s very good at his job. But he makes mistakes too as all GMs do. That’s something that many here don’t understand.
  20. I know you know this, but the majority of fans here don’t. Fans see the great success the Eagles have had and assume they haven’t had many failures. That’s not the case. Every team has misses, even the successful ones.
  21. Fans here don’t know this, but Roseman has missed three times on high round wide receivers. Missing on Reagor is the biggest and worst. But he also missed on JJ Arceaga Whiteside, a second round pick, and Nelson Agalor, a first round pick. Roseman has clearly done a great job, but WR is a position he has struggled with drafting.
  22. I think he should break the following…. *** Completion percentage *** Rushing yards *** Rushing TDs
  23. They can’t give him away mostly due to his contract. Way, way too expensive. Now as a free agent he can negotiate with as many teams as he wants. But he will likely have to bring his price down. Hopkins reportedly wants a deal similar to OBJ got with Baltimore. But that deal was done about 5-6 weeks ago. Money has mostly dried up since then.
  24. I think Pittman was the victim of a whole series of things. Bad quarterback play, historically bad OL play play, a bad running game without a healthy Taylor and a very poor coaching staff. That explains Pitt’s average per catch dropping an astounding 3 yards per catch. I think he went from 12.3 to 9.3. Pitt didn’t get bad overnight. Everything around him did. Which I blame on Ballard and Frank and Irsay. Im putting my stock in Steichen and his staff to put the pieces back together again. If they can, I hope this season is the first step back toward respectability.
  25. I never thought of Hopkins as someone who blew the top off a defense. Ever. But maybe that’s just me? But even if I’m wrong, I think his best days are behind him. As the best days of other top WRs eventually are behind them. And someone else noted he may be facing a suspension for PEDs. I think investing in an aging WR to be your top guy which can only come at the expense of your young receivers is not a good sound strategy for this year. The focus needs to be on the young guys, not the old guys. I’ll always fight for the Colts to be focused on the young players. Im not rooting against Hopkins. I’ve always liked him. But I think he’s the right guy at the wrong time. And I appreciate there will be many who disagree with my view. I’m ok with that.
