  1. Perhaps the RB meeting came up with JT being the best man up, with the right owner and team history to reestablish their value. Irsay has been most firm representing the opposition. lol
  2. If his wife, and he like it here, and they believe in the direction we are headed, they would take what some would consider a "discounted" price. It would have enough fully guaranteed $$ with a signing bonus to make them very happy. And he should be good for a very rewarding 3rd contract to top off his career. With a Superbowl Win or two. IM ever so wise and humble O, Steichen will be the Prime determiner as to who he wants Ballard to keep. Pierce could turn out so effective that combined with our talented slots and TE's, we would be wise to draft Pittman's replacement and save that bag of cash.
  3. I really like Ekeler for our offense. And I see Irsay says JT ain't going nowhere. Getting wild and wooly. lol
  4. Sounds like a point being made against the idea of an individual being indispensable. Next man up Jonathan. Kelly, Kenny... I'm very impressed with all things Jonathan and wish him as much guaranteed $$ as he can get. I agree that this is the right time for him to go for the GOLD. Our Colts have that Legacy of watching Manning and Luck walk out the door with a cool $25M ish for no services rendered. All wise players get its just business.
  5. We will take the best offer, more likely from the NFC imo. I'll guess a 3rd next draft with a conditional 3rd or 4th in 2025. I would be tickled with that.
  6. I realize JT requested a trade to Irsays face. My realization is that JT likely doesn't like the probability that he would go into next off season healthy. So he is looking for whatever/as much guaranteed money as he can get to set himself up for the rest of his life. It's just Business. Ankles are tricky Business once injured. I believe it is best for him and us to find a taker.
  7. Irsay signaled this pre-draft when mentioning the Steichen +1 offense relative to the interview/hiring process. He was giddy about it. In poker it is called a "tell". They have known JT wasn’t getting paid since Steichen got hired. And of course you gotta talk nice, to drive up the price. Do da Bears want him?
  8. His Boss on Thursday committed to Not giving JT a new contract. This is Steichen driven. He explained to Irsay and Ballard how and why his offense will work with AR. The OL is more important than Any RB. Through FA, preferably the draft, expect next off season for any perceived OL deficiency to be addressed. JT would make a fine Commander.
  9. It is POSSIBLE, that he is better off sitting with the QB coach reviewing the plays he ran and getting coached up in the moment. It could possibly help him be even better prepared when he next is put out there. But you would have a good feel for what is best.
  10. Thanks. I know. It was intended for Jared who pushed Smith for the 53. I would have bet he wasn’t well informed regarding the competition, doesn't appreciate that everyone has a clean slate, or that we couch reporters know next to nothing as to how well our marginal competitors are fitting in per the coaching staff. Probably best I put him on ignore for awhile. He easily and often annoys me. It's a personal problem of course. lol
  11. Who is Smith competing with for his spot. And are you or will you please give us your opinion on how they too are doing as the competition carries on? But yeah, go Smith.
  12. I'm pleased that Irsay nipped a new contract in the bud. It is Steichen's "Philly" offense, with a Rosenbaum like roster mission. The big money is needed elsewhere. If someone wants to pay Taylor we will be listening.
  13. That would be No. They were decent by seasons end. And should naturally be better this season.
  14. Such a nice explanation, this Should help calm some minds. https://sports.yahoo.com/colts-encouraging-rookie-qb-anthony-richardson-to-tap-into-creativity--and-theyre-not-stopping-there-000929613.html
  15. But JT Might be the difference between us winning 5 games or seven. I will be Shocked if Cook gets Paid $10M. JT is a class act and certainly extremely good of course. But some might think we would have a productive enough run game without him. I know I look forward to developing a passing game that can compete with the best.
  16. And paying him is not going to make us contenders the next two years. It is money that should be used for others extensions or rolled over for other opportunities when we are close to contending. There is nothing new about this mode of operation. It is a hard nosed way of doing business but wisely the best approach to attaining the Ultimate goal. For your Colts, we should see how well things are coming together say by mid-season, and if it's looks impressive and he is healthy, then perhaps see if he can agree.
  17. So we pay him a boatload of $$ for this rebuilding season where his + contribution will have little meaning. Ugh. From a recent segment on Good Morning Football. $$2 Million. NONE of the last 5 Super Bowl winners paid there top RB over $2M. I can't imagine us being SB competitive this season or next. Steichen will use Richardson's running threat to make any of our RB's more effective. It makes much more sense to save this money for other positions.
  18. Why yes, it isn't news to some NFL Followers. And they are drafted high because they are expected to be very good someday. And they will be playing for QB chump change for 4 years. So NO, guaranteeing for this position is a very good deal for the franchise. You are consistent if nothing else. Go Colts!
  19. Stampede Blue has a picture of Freeland that makes me feel better. He looks thick where he needs to be.
  20. Watching AR show very good pocket awareness and movement is a big tell. Combined with the pressure he puts on the D with Steichen's 12th man offense, I expect he will be able to execute enough of the playbook by opening day to deserve to start. Can he get us to 3rd 2, and how effective will we be bullying for 1st downs? I'm sure we will all be on pins and needles waiting to see how well he throws in the short passing game. When we start to moving the chains I believe he will be putting the hurt on them at 15+. Opening day for AR!
  21. A reliable run game comes first and that starts up front. Who (Moss) averaged 4.9 yds per to Taylor's 4.5. I figure Steichen can manufacture a good enough run game without Taylor. Buckner excels where Pittman moves the chains and were dead if we can't do that. Smith Pittman Buckner Taylor Kenny wouldn't be a top ten
  22. A few decades ago Bob was one of several Star writers that gave us a good look at our college and pro teams. When Bob turned sad and grumpy, uninteresting, i quit reading him. That was long ago. Walter Matthau would play him in his life story.
  23. I hope we are deep enough at final cuts to make him a FA. lol
