  1. I agree, and add my belief that the QB position looks like that in 3 years it will take a heck Uva player to Crack top ten.
  2. I'll never forget the pick six Manning threw at Reggie to finish us off against the Saints in the SB. Reich came to the Colts with a purported process that relied heavily with game planning input from his position coaches. I'm not sure what Steichen would need beyond that. I could see Reggie being a better coach in year two of his coaching career.
  3. Put a guy with a well coached team with a strong roster and they might shine later in year one and in year two. Put him in Cleveland, lol.
  4. We have been stuck in a cycle of mediocrity under his tenure. Exactly what Irsay said he did not want. Finally, Ballard has a high end offensive mind HC and a Great QB prospect. It's a 2-3 year at minimum build to be solid contenders. Kelly will be gone and who knows if Q, Smith, Leonard, or Taylor will still figure in at that time. Ballard has a great deal of team building lying ahead, and it will be his real legacy. STEICHEN is the best thing that he could have hoped for, and he will continue to guide Ballard down a path that is a much better one than what our last HC was capable of.
  5. Good morning football is doing a segment on AR now. It was brief and fluff. Oh well.
  6. "Mechanics don’t matter in college where almost everyone is running spread offenses and QBs are only operating out of shotgun." Learning to be precise with 3 5 7 step drops is NFL mandatory, with all the handoffs, pitches, fakes, lookoffs, the timing of routes. Luck stank at throwing precise bubble screens his whole 1st season. These were a Major play of choice, especially considering Luck stank even worse throwing accurate short across the middle. Not until the end of his 2nd pre-season did he finally figure it out. Richardson has a very detail oriented HC, with a offense that is made perfectly for him. There is fresh info from camp suggesting that Richardson is exceptional moving in the pocket, with a very high level of awareness. This 6th sense is a huge part of what separates the men from the boys. I hope you all are doing well, and I am looking forward to an interesting season with lots of highlights.
  7. No, the question is or will become, what is the best combination? Smith-Freeland Fries-Smith For years, many have noted Smiths deficiencies at RT. It isn't some mirage, some myth. It's visible before the eyes. We want a Better combination. That is all. I believe Saturday would have recommended it. And our draft spoke to it.
  8. Smiths salary is a fixed cost, and has NOTHING to do with what the best starting 5 will be this season. One thing is certain, our new RT was drafted to be the next RT for a reason, so you naysayers might as well get over it. It is just a matter of when!
  9. Our new RT is KNOWN to have Superior athleticism, something that Smith has shown year after year that he is lacking. Smiths run blocking, in a confined space is excellent, out in space, it just doesn't get it. He has hurt our effectiveness running screens because of his mediocrity in getting good blocks out in space. Wise fans understand these issues, and should be praying that we can improve the overall play at RT. And at RG. Who do you see as our backup to Q? Smith was briefly moved to guard last season, this is your clear indication. Steichen will get the best 5 on the field, and that will change as the season goes on.
  10. Woot! Woot! I'm old school so for now I will use an old adage. Get on board the A - train, it's about to roll. I have high expectations that AR will improve quickly. He impresses with his maturity. Nobody cares about Grigson. You could take this fest private.
  11. When introducing Grigson as our new GM, our owner said he would be mentoring him. Like when Irsay traded for Richardson or when he made Gosder the highest pd RT in the league. This was during "bad times" for Irsay. Irsay was definitely part of the Grigson team building problem. JMO!
  12. Not counting QB sneaks he will run 10 times a game... or less. Similar to Hurts.
  13. Nope. He needs for the unit to keep improving from where they were at the last 4-5 games. There is reason to expect improvement in play at LT and RG, because of experience gained. I contend that our blocking at All the other positions was below par also. Steichen and his coaches will light a fire that Frank was no longer able to do. IMO we Are going to be weak at LB and secondary. lol We should have trouble outscoring our opponents. 6-7 wins would be a heck of an accomplishment.
  14. Actually they are very similar. Big, physical, strong armed, and similar in their ability to sneak the run in short yardage. Levis fast enough to gain 7 yds or more on keepers. Very Luck like in that regard. The reason we almost had to take Levis at 4 with Richardson gone.
  15. Tampa is in a start over mode so maybe next year will be a decent year to go long term. The other four Do have 3+ year QB's in place so...
  16. Apparently not a widely known fact. Ballard signed WR Isaiah McKenzie. 5'8" 173. So if Steichen put in a order for one of these for His Offense, depth makes sense. Downs was mocked in the 40's by some, so I can picture Reggie jumping up and down with Downs still available at 79. Cooper Kupp, Welker, Edelman, oh yeah, give me a whole bunch of that!
  17. Miles soon says because HE never heard of him as if Myles knows anything. Therefore he Should have NO opinion. Just Goofy! Richardson has short range touch and accuracy issues. So Downs is the superb choice to work with him on it.
  18. Luck got slammed to the turf a few dozen times each season because he didn't see the blitz coming And/or he was holding onto the ball waiting for TY to get open downfield. He made bad choices, including snow boarding, and he Quit, in fear of his next injury. Plus he had 26M large of Jim's $$$ in the bank even if he decided to stay home on his *. Hurts ran 165 times last season, 30+ in sneaks, while throwing 460 time's. Run first you say? Richardson will be taught to read and take what the D gives him. Running enough to make them often bring a safety up to help, thus creating more throwing space. A simple formula.
  19. Don't mean to scare you but after reading some of these lengthy diatribes the words "analysis paralysis" had come to mind. Well said. The biggest mountain to climb off the bat will be greatly improving the blocking from ALL positions. Excellent execution will unleash everything.
  20. As reported, Lamar's injuries occurred in the pocket. I hope AR plays smarter, and slides better than young, LB'er like Luck did. That wouldn't take much!
  21. Perhaps more importantly Hurts! He played a different game from everyone. 3700 yes passing 1000 yes rushing 15 rushing tds All set up by a simple RPO based O that freezes LB's and dominates in short yardage. Richardson already moves magically in the pocket, keeps his head looking downfield, and has effectively looked off safeties. He learned a lot from his college coach.
  22. It won't matter if some see it clear as day, it is a mindset. But I have plenty of "show me" in me too. It is a given, but I continue to have high hopes for our Colts.
  23. I watched Luck for 3 years stinking it up on short crossing patterns. He was late, high, and threw to his receivers ear rather than in front and numbers high. He did NOT throw the bbz Harbaugh touted. But he did love the deep ball, and taking a "Nice" hit. Richardson will be very good at all levels in 3 years.
  24. Blackmon in 22 Completion % 84.6 Passer rating 138 Missed tackle % 15.3. 3 year avg. 14 We don't want this.
  25. I don't know how that would be possible with Leonard recently saying he still isn't running all out yet. Our picks make great sense.
