  1. so your saying that the draft grade that has Lacy as a 2nd round pick is wrong on NFL.com? he has an 82.0 draft grade which is a top of the 2nd round pick and as I said rb has lost some value over the years, a good O Line is much more important, we can go around and around about this but facts are facts, the position has lost alot of value, heck there is not 1st round rated rb this year

Kiper has him at #21 and CBS has him at #28. Bucky Brooks and Gil Brandt from NFL.com have Lacy going to St. Louis at #22.

  2. Yes I have. He's a mediocre pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield. We need a 3rd down back. Not a 1st and 2nd down one.

We can agree to disagree, but I have no idea what and the world you were watching.

  3. says who? some guy behind a computer screen? face it, running backs dont have as much value as they once did unless they are truly elite and thats not going to be Lacy

Someone who actually watches football and doesn't read copied and pasted made up stuff about players on Web sites like therealdraftwebsite.net

  4. Have you even watchd any tape on him at all?

I have watched plenty, and not just some highlights either, I have watched full games live.

The question is Have You watched this kid play at all, because it is not hard to see he has tremendous talent.

  5. Taylor and Bell can both do that. Lacy isn't very good at catching or blocking. No need to look to the first for that.

Look at the last two 1st round RBs from Bama. Both busts so far.

Teams rarely find RBs who can run, block, and catch the ball well past the early part of the draft. That is why the RB is picked there. and because Lacy can do it all is the reason he is considered a first round pick.

Richardson is not a bust. That kid has a lot of upside. Don't confuse the game we played against him with how good he is. He had busted up ribs from the week before that game and shouldn't have been playing, and that's why they pulled him. Anyone could see the kid was playing with extreme pain that day.

  6. Since when can Lacy block or catch? He's mediocre at both of those. You sound like you'd like Stepfan Taylor better if you like those attributes.

Says who? Some draft website you found?

Eddie Lacy can block and catch the ball very well.

  7. Ballard behind a good OL is good enough for me. Bell or Taylor in the 3rd/4th is fine. The days of first round RBs are over.

Its funny how people miss the directions as they are traveling even when handed a map.

In the old days teams relied on an every down back. Things started to sway to a RB by committee somewhere in the late 90'a and early 2000's. Now because of scheme teams need two backs who can run, block, and pass. If the team does not have that then the offense becomes very predictable.

Defenses: Hey they have the blocking back in so they are passing. Or hey their runner who can't block is in the game so look for a run or screen.

Somehow you fell out of the boat and still missed the water my friend.

  8. Maybe that's your problem. It isn't 1980 anymore, teams don't need an elite back.

You really think teams don't need backs who can run, block , and catch the ball? And you say I am living in 1980? Wow. If I left you alone for a while you might eventually talk yourself into picking Lacy at #24.

  9. 1. There is no next Barry Sanders

    2. WE DON'T NEED the next Barry Sanders

You obviously missed the reference of Barry Sanders to another member who brought up Barry. Some people around here believe that a young Dominic Rhodes is just a phone call away after the draft.

  10. You act like you personally know Grigson...where do you get all this inside information because most things you hear b4 a draft r smokescreens, if your not hearing anything about Grigson being interested in Lacy it means he is probably interested in Lacy...SMDH

What did Mike Lombardi used to say all of the time? I believe it was something like, "Believe nothing a team is doing or saying in the final weeks leading up to the draft."

  11. You are much more likely to get an All-Pro type game changing RB in round 1 or 2 and we don't have a second...Alfred Morris is more an exception than a rule, and he ran behind a great line and had the advantage of defenses not knowing if he or griffin were gonna run..History backs this up 100% Teams are going RB by committee because there aren't many big time backs around...Lacy is and will be big time..IMO, go ahead and find your stud RB in the 6th...good luck. You may find a decent back or a change of pace back, but odds are you won't find a stud.

    Well said. ;)

  12. Not to mention Brown can't find a hole if he is healthy and he falls down if you look at him wrong...He could have an obvious hole and runs right into a plugged hole..Im surprised he hasn't butt fumbled...He is terrible and is always hurt..I'm not comfortable at RB at all...They act like Ballard is some great all-pro back too, I mean he is pretty good but he isn't great by any means at least not yet...

Ballard has good talent and played with a ton of heart last year, but he is all we can depend on right now. Too much hard work goes into preparing a team, only to have it all fall apart if he goes down. Plus we need fresh legs at the end of the season.

  13. I can't wait. The arm chair gm's will try to bash grigson if he doesn't draft who they want.

I am good going a lot of different directions and can see several picks that would be justified. It amazes me that so many people are against drafting Lacy at #24, when it is obvious why he is a good fit and why he has tremendous value at #24.

  14. If Cooper is there at guard then yes....We have plenty of D-line depth, we are like 8 deep right now, we have 3 solid corners, we can get a good FS in later rounds, and I doubt there will be a true impact rush OLB there..Lacy is head and shoulders above all the RB's in this class. RB is the 1 position that can have an istant impact and take pressure off Luck day 1..All other positions take more time to develop and integrate players except RB, We can still get a quality Guard in the 3rd...Frederick, B. Jones, Winters, Schwenke...Thomas is a good guard and Iljalana is supposed to be healthy. BEST EXAMPLE- LOOK AT WHAT DOUG MARTIN DID AT TAMPA AS A 1ST ROUND RB.."Muscle Hamster" was a beast...What happens if Ballard gets hurt? You ok with Donald Brown and Carter?

It looks like we are preaching the same thing. I have been saying all along that if Ballard goes down next year it could seriously hurt our chances of success in 2013. Brown can't stay healthy and Carter needs to buy all the leftover stickum from Biletnikoff.

  15. LACY can change this team more than any other player...All the doubters will be buying his jersey once he starts giving us consistent 100+ yard games...

I haven't been that nasty, because I have seen it happen so many times over the years. lol

But you are correct sir! ;)

  16. Because unless your name is Barry Sanders than an O-line makes most running backs. It's such a low value position. Lacy isn't even the best RB in this draft.

You couldn't be further from the truth. At least one  RB has been taken in the first round over the past 50 years. There is a reason for that. Add in the extra year we get by selecting a RB in the first round, and I believe it will make RBs more popular in the late first round. Just look at last year when 3 backs were taken in round 1.

  17. No way. He's gonna be a ram or steeler

The Rams and Steelers could both be in play. My point is, if he is there at #24, then I believe we will have a serious discussion in the Colts War Room about taking him.

  18. Good example. He was taken in the 6th round.

Because all 6th round RBs are studs. lol

Most of the members on this board believe that we can pick any back in the draft, in any round, and we will have the next Marshall Faulk. It's unbelievable.

  19. I really don't know why people on here have such problems with running backs being taken in the first round. I know we have other needs but look how Alfred Morris carried the Redskins last year. Lacy is probably a better prospect than Morris ever was and despite what people think, a good power running back can be key to a successful offense. Also, it's not like were drafting early in the 1st round. At #24 there might not be much top end talent around and so I'd be fine with Lacy, I guess. Unless Rhodes, Hopkins, Cooper, Warmack, Jones or Williams are on the board, I'm fine going with Lacy. I'd much rather that be the case than draft a guy like Margus Hunt who's already 26 and by the time he reaches his prime with be 30 and in decline physically.

    I enjoy reading sound-minded posts. Thanks. ;)
