I disagree. Since there are fewer blue chip players at the top of the draft, IMO, the strength of this draft is on Day 2. More picks on Day 2 is what wins this draft. If we traded down to gain 2 picks for a total of 5 good picks in rounds 2 and 3 by moving out of the No.26 spot, I'd be ecstatic.

I agree with your logic and like I said, usually I'm all for trading down. That being said, I don't think this draft class is nearly as strong in rounds two and three as it was last year.

  2. I've said it before, most years I'm all about trading down to accumulate more draft capitol. But this year just seems like a trade up year. Now of course the right guy has to be there for any such move to happen, and we won't know how it shakes out until draft night. I won't be shocked either way if the Ballard trades up or down really. I'm always of the mindset of the more picks the merrier, but if a player the Colts see as a real blue chipper falls to a certain spot, I can certainly see Ballard making a move.

  3. I started watching film of Arcega-Whiteside last night to try to get a better feel on who he really is on the field. Is he Mike Williams from USC or is he Larry Fitzgerald? Or is he somewhere in the middle of those two? I'm guessing somewhere in the middle but I've only watched the Washington game tape and he got hurt in the second quarter of that game.  Seems like most people on this forum are fans of his.

One guy that stood out to me in the Washington game tape was TE Kaden Smith. Now it's just one tape but I really like what I saw from a guy projected in the fourth round.

I like him. Dez Bryant and Michael Thomas?? I don't know about that...

I'm not going to say he's that guy from day one but I see that kind of upside in him. It'll be up to Lodge to put the work in to ultimately become that guy.

Lance Zierlein which I think is the worst player comp guy on the internet, comps Lodge to Zach Pascal. So it's safe to say LZ and I are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum with Lodge.

I've been on the Lodge bandwagon for a while man, would be the perfect pickup if he falls into the middle rounds.

Unless there is some undisclosed info about him, I'm doubting he'll be there at the end of the 4th but most boards I look at project him there or later. I'll be a very happy camper if he ends up a Colt.

I haven't watched Lodge but I have found a few scouting reports on him.  Most I have seen have him projected to the 3rd round.  I think some of the concern is a drop in production from his junior to senior year.

I don't know about much drop in production. He had more catches and yards this year than last. He did have less TD and YPC but I think QB play had more to do with that. I'm not a fan of either of his last two college QBs. NFL QBs will make him look a lot better.

Mecole Hardman, Anthony Johnson, Emanuel Hall, Antoine Wesley, Jakobi Myers, Dillion Mitchell, Lil Jordan Humphrey, Darius Slayton, Denzel Mims, Hunter Renfrow, Penny Hart, Jazz Ferguson, Preston Williams, Miles Boykin, Jalen Hurd, Keelan Doss, Gary Jennings Jr, and KeeSean Johnson. Looking at the composite big board over at FanSpeak, all of these shlubs are currently ranked ahead of DaMarkus Lodge. WHAT?!?! This is the biggest joke of this year's draft rankings to me. I don't think I've ever been higher on a guy that has been ranked so low by the general internet scouting community.

When I look at Lodge I see a mixture of Dez Bryant and Michael Thomas. Yes, that's where I'm at on this guy. Where are the holes in his game? I saw one bad game film (against LSU). Some say he has issues with drops but I didn't see enough on film to give the guy 5th or 6th round grade like most are grading him out as. What can't the guy do on the field? I can't find a true weakness in his game. He did play in a super pass heavy offense that also featured two possible first round WRs but he still ate. If he had better QB play his numbers would have been staggering. Lodge made some pretty good DBs look silly this year.

The Colts did recently interview Lodge per Stampede Blue and I'm certainly pumped about that. I see SUPERSTAR upside in his game and think he will be the steal of the draft based on where he is projected to be selected.

Is it just me or is Cam like the only franchise QB that consistently throws for less than 4000 yards in a season?

Those 58 career rushing TDs certainly help his case of being a franchise QB. It's also an NFL record for QB rushing TDs with Steve Young being a distant second with 43.
