Probably depends a lot on how Mack fares this season. If he gets nicked up, and only plays 9-12 games, then I think you start to look at other guys. If he stays on the field, with all of the oline talent, and weapons they're bringing in, he should have a good/great year.

Yea, I'm not trying to knock Mack here. I hope he can stay healthy. If he stays healthy, he's going to have a monster season with our O-Line making holes for him. I'd prefer for him to be a 15-20 touch per game guy so he'll last longer. I'm not writing off Wilkins by any means and maybe he'll be that perfect compliment to Mack.

a low price tag would make the risk more palatable.

hope this kid realizes he's walking on thin ice and grows up.

luck i'm sure would be a good influence. he could join andrew's book club...

If he doesn't know he's on thin ice then he's likely got more issues than we already know about. I can agree with other posters in the fact that Reich's influence likely made this a possibility. I really really hope this works out.

  3. If Kelly wasn't a complete knucklehead he'd be atleast a backup on an NFL team. I've always been a big fan of his as a prospect but he's never been able to stay out of trouble. Hopefully he has matured but I wouldn't bet on it. He would beat out Phillip Walker in a heartbeat for that #3/PS spot.

I think you're looking fairly accurate with your predictions overall. Well done!

IMO it is training camp and not pre season that determines who starts, stays or gets cut.

It's a combination of the two but I can agree that camp is a bigger deal for earning a starting spot. I'm saying after week two of preseason because I'll know a hell of a lot more by then about the way the roster and depth chart is shaping up. If anyone is predicting now, without actually seeing any of the rookies play at the NFL level is kind of just throwing darts. The Colts didn't draft any "can't miss guys" IMO. I do really like the Colts draft class but there are a lot of question marks at this time.

Your post made me think of an interesting question to ponder:

Which 2018 position starters (not spot starters, I am talking primary guys) are most likely to be beaten out by a rookie?  And does anyone have a surprise starter losing their job to a rookie or UDFA? The answer I think I have is ZERO.  But I am sure some out there may think differently? (And I am not counting Rogers as a starting WR or something similar to that).  I expect some people will likely jump on CB and Rock Ya Sin replacing Kenny Moore since some think we won't even make our roster.  It's possible he'll take the spot I suppose and Kenny will focus on the slot, but I don't think it is automatic.

    Anyone?

Today I will agree and say zero but ask me again after week two of the preseason.

I think you're not a SB caliber team until you've proven you can beat other SB caliber teams.  I'll even go further and say you should have to do it on the road. We haven't done that.  Right now, we just have a lot of potential.

In order to win a SB, you'll need to beat at least two other SB caliber teams (might not face one in division round, but definitely will in conference championship and SB itself).

So how many teams are SB caliber?

Jack Conklin is hitting FA next year as well if they wanna go that route. Titans are not picking up his option.

I thought it was a little surprising that Tenn isn't picking up his 5th year option.

Not if you wanna save 8 mil. Seriously guys, im getting tired of repeating myself

I just don't see why they would cut Sheard to save cap money for this season when they have the amount of cap space they have. He's still one of the Colt's best D-Linemen. The move would only make sense if Sheard has regressed dramatically.

I think the love of Cain is silly. Until he can prove it on the field he is just another player fighting for a spot.

I can see the argument for both sides of the whole Cain/Rogers debate here. You can tell Ballard really likes Cain by the way he talks about him when asked in interviews. On the other hand, Cain really hasn't done anything besides being a camp darling and his one catch in the preseason opener before he was injured. If I were to bet at this juncture, I think Cain ends up on the PUP list and once he's fully healthy the Colts will then have to make that decision on weather he's apart of the 53 man roster.

On the last episode of the "With the next Pick"  at 7:16 you can hear Frank talk to Rock on the phone but in the back ground Ballard is confirming "Did you get a hold of Carolina" i assume to tell them we are not trading the pick.  Carolina ended up trading to get pick 37 and exchanging pick 47 and  77.

Sounds like they really didn't want to miss out on Rock Ya-Sin.

You do realize we have a lot of players to re-sign next offseason right? AC, Kenny Moore, Ebron, Doyle, Funchess if he pans out

Sheard's contract this year has no bearing on who needs resigned next year, because he would be right there with them with his own expiring contract.

I liked Penny Hart a lot and had a 4th round ranking on him... he's not better than Andy Isabella though. Not even close.

I've been watching more tape this morning on Hart and there really is a lot to like about him. I don't know if he makes the team but I'd be willing to bet that he catches on somewhere. A team looking for help at the slot will give this kid a shot.

Penny Hart was the best WR during Senior Bowl practices BUT Isabella caught 7 passes for 74 yards and 1 Td during the game, so idk what the heck Daniel Jeremiah is talking about. When it mattered during the game Isabella was the best WR.

And the same could be said about Senior Bowl MVP Daniel Jones. Shaky week of practice and then balls out during the game.

The receiver room has a lot of talent in it. Could Penny realistically make the 53 man roster?

The odds aren't in Hart's favor but I wouldn't count him out.  The Colts are going to have some incredibly tough decisions to make on final cut day.

I gotta say, both he and Okereke's film looks like Darius Leonard's from last year....

Instinctual.....sideline to sideline speed.....hustle....wrap up tacklers.....and they all look long and lean....

I was thinking the same thing. Speed looks like a Leonard clone in his highlights.
