  1. When Polian left we interviewed the person who was currently in Rayes position.   I can't remember his name but we hired Grigson and he eventually left to become GM of SD. Just because he said he was going to interview him doesn't mean he is going to hire him.  I like Riddick a lot and now that Pioli has been mentioned he would be a great choice too.  I hope Jim is through with trying out newbies and I hope he hires an experienced GM.

  2. It will be interesting to see who he brings in for interviews.  There are a lot of former GMs working at ESPN.  Riddick comes across as being very knowledgeable.  Casserly knows his stuff on the NFL network. Or do we hire somebody as a first time GM again?   I am leaning toward an experienced GM.  Didn't we trade for Polian?

The only realistic option is Brown and Poe because they Chiefs have to pay Berry.

    Ingram is gonna be Tagged.

I would consider any of the 3 CB  Morris, Gilmore, Boyce.

Also we could upgrade the FS position with another FIU player Jonathan  Cyprien, and let Butler walk away.

This year draft is loaded at the LB position i think the wise decision would be to trade down to the 20's and get an extra 2nd, we could get Watt, Cunningham, McMillan, Davis with a pick in the 20's and get another LB or RB with the 2 seconds.

If Fournett and Cook are gone I wouldn't mind trading back into the 20's and taking McCaffrey.  Especially if we wind up with Poe, Brown and one of the 3 CB's you suggest.  Perry could make it to FA as well.

I hope Grigs doesn't take his bargain basement approach for the Tolers, the Robinsons, the RJFs, the Sattelles, the Thomases, the Herremans, etc. It likely won't be as easy to recruit the very good young players since we probably aren't viewed as a SB contender like we were 2 yrs ago. Some players aren't total mercenaries and want to play for winners. Who can blame them? Gore and AJ wanted to come here to win a SB.

I would think most of the players in the league still view us as SB contenders. Two 8-8 seasons aren't deal breakers  IMO. Especially with Luck.  But for the most part I think they are total mercenaries.  The Gore and AJ types were both at the end of their careers and were looking for the ring.

I agree with both of you. I wouldn't really be happy with just one good young starter, but the odds of us winning on two or three top free agents is low. Chandler Jones, Hightower, and Jamie Collins are all gonna be locked up. Ingram is going to be waaayyy overpaid as the top dawg available st OLB. I don't see Grigson giving him 9-11 million a year. We will get two good players this year. If we get two of Berry, Ingram, Williams, Poe, Bouye, Brown, or Gilmore I will run around downtown in my underwear. I'll be amazed.

    I hope it's a warm day!

Here's a curve ball for ya, what if a defender and cook are rated the same, and they're both available? Do you think griggles will roll with a skill position?

That's the $64,000 question.  I have no idea.  It might come down to how successful they are in FA.  All I know for sure is they traded a No.1 pick for Trent Richardson in hopes of acquiring that elite back.  I would imagine they will find it hard to pass on him.

Have we ever got one? I'm trying to be realistic. I want as many solid players as possible this year.

No, because we had to allow for and plan for the signings of Costanzo, Hilton and Luck.  We were in a different situation than than we are now.  Now we can go for young and quality and we have the money.  I am expecting some real difference makers this year.  And don't forget trades as well. I would easily give up a second for another young proven player versus a draft choice.

Oh yes we definitely have more than one need. 90% of them are on one side of the ball though.

Two big things happened this year

    1. We had a 1000 yard rusher

    2. We allowed the most yards in colts history

    I think it's obvious.

But if the higher rated player is a RB it's obvious you take the RB.

If Fournette and cook are available when we pick, that means 14 teams with better defenses than us passed on them, probably to get a nice defensive prospect. So why would we, with one of the worst defenses, pick one of them? Wouldn't it be more logical to get a way greater position of need and a nice talent all at once?

We pick them because they are the best player available in a position of need.  We have more than one need you know.  Even if you rank a defensive need ahead of RB need you don't pass up the higher rated player.  But if we do take a RB I guess we will know they were rated higher.

Since it's looking like Pagano will be back it won't surprise me either. Let's just hope it works out better than when they signed Art Jones. If Williams followed the same trend of injury that Jones did, then I believe Indy is truly cursed in regards to injuries.

    Just don't overpay Grigson.

Or What?   It's pretty hard not to overpay when you are going after the premier players.  You want older average role players again?   Not me thank you.

We should have a shot at Dontari Poe or Berry I can't see the Chiefs paying for them both, and they can only franchise one...We should target them hard...

Here's an idea.  Trade our 2nd. for Poe and sign him. Then they get something for him. If we can't reach a deal we could always franchise him.  Sign a RB with the 1st.  Sign Ingram, Brown and Zeitler in FA.

Agreed. Change for the sake of change is not a good thing. Change needs to be necessary

Agreed but when advancing technology can improve the safety of our players and cut down injuries than it becomes necessary.  You don't wait for the life expectancy of the turf to expire.  This is the NFL.  Just do it.

We need to do something...We always have an abnormal number of injuries and it cripples us..

I'm hoping it doesn't enter into a FA's decision on whether to come here or not.  But with other teams complaining it probably would.  Our luck the Chiefs are one of the teams.
