  1. I’m not in the big contract for pitman camp, I don’t think he is that kind of receiver. I wouldn’t extend current players under contract next year. There are too many injuries in the nfl now. i would shy away from big guaranteed money contracts for any players except a proven franchise qb unless it is at a great discount. Players know their career could end at any time, so guaranteed money should be at a discount or a big money contract that doesn’t have any guaranteed money. i don’t like any of the te’s, so they can all walk. The colts need a huge upgrade that will help the passing and running game. i love Buckner, but he is getting older and play seems to deteriorate fast when players hit 30. Qb is the only position where older is ok. I would draft a rookie qb to hopefully replace minshew.
  2. those were his two “big” plays that I saw him make. Too many people look at meaningless stats like tackles. I saw 3 unassisted tackles, the 2 mentioned here and the other was him being blocked and the rb running into both of them.
  3. The colts te’s are a much bigger problem than the receivers. They have a lot of them and they aren’t good blockers or receivers. They need one that is a good blocker and one that is a blocker and receiver. You have to be able to run the ball if the rpo the colts want to run is going to work. A lot of the great qb’s have had that te that can block and receive. I don’t know what is available in the draft, but this is something the colts should have as a priority.
  4. Haven’t people learned that no game is a lock any more with the hard salary cap and all the qb injuries!
  5. and that was because the qb scrambled towards him while he was being blocked.
  6. Maybe a te is more important than a wr that so many here want the colts to get! That will help with the passing and running game.
  7. we will see how is there longer. I think Ballard gets too much hate and steichen gets too much praise. Time will tell!
  8. I don’t understand why the colts have so many te’s when they don’t use them blocking or passing to them. If they can’t block, cut them and get some that can. You watch San Francisco and they have two te’s on the line and that’s a big reason they are so successful running the ball and it’s the same with other teams. That doesn’t meant they can’t throw to them also. The colts are just wasting money spent on what they wanted to be a top rb.
  9. agreed! Things like that can change a game, it happens a lot. Funny thing momentum, it showes more since there is so much parity in the nfl with the hard salary cap.
  10. Just watched the game highlights, I think most of the plays. His sack was a blitz where he was blocked, the qb scrambled and he tackled him a couple yards short of the line of scrimage. He made one good tackle behind the line when he shot a gap and made the tackle for a loss. That it for good plays he made. All the other tackles were part of a group of players, one where he was being pancaked by a lineman and Barkley ran right into them and the all went down. He couldn’t beat the qb to the sideline on a scramble that was running towards him. He made two plays from what I saw, nothing close to a great game like before his injury.
  11. that’s what you should be doing against a good pass rusher, but it is usually a te and then releases for a check down pass. I don’t know why you would have a wr doing it unless he is a better blocker than your te. If that’s the case, all the colts te’s should be cut and get some new ones!!
  12. If he is running deep routs most of the time and you have a qb that doesn’t have the arm to make I lot of those throws, it that his fault? The colts qb can make a long pass that is lofted up, but most long pass routs need that strong arm to complete. How many times have the colts completed or thrown a deep out? That should tell you everything!
  13. I don’t think that’s part of the coaches rpo offense, and you don’t have a running qb or one that is a deep passing threat. So teams clog the middle and the safety’s play closer to the line, making short passes and running the ball tougher.
  14. Yup, just as a have been saying for a while. I was saying pat was overrated here back then and was attacked by almost everyone here.
  15. and 3 years of college experience to build on. Even great qb’s say they get smarter every game they play, probably why they are great!
  16. People expecting Richardson to be a 2nd year starting qb next year isn’t reality. He hardly played this year and only had one year of college. Next year is probably going to be more like a rookie year than most here think. I don’t want to hear about practicing, reading game defenses aren’t learned in practice!
  17. the reason I say lb is because the line get decent pressure even though the colts almost never blitz. I don’t think the db’s are that bad, the system they are asked to play in isn’t helping them and they are young. The starting lb’s are way below nfl standards, number of tackles is the most misleading stat for linebackers. And do the colts have more than two?
  18. as have most of the colts lb’s for years!
  19. I think the rpo is hurting the running game and the pass protection. Why run it with a qb that isn’t a threat to run? I think that threat is the only way it works. I have been saying all year, the line and backs are the strong part of the offense, not the very average qb and receiving group. A top coach in any sport plays to their players strengths, not have players play to his strengths. It will take a year or two to get players to fit his offense.
  20. it’s not Ballard, it’s irsay. The colts have been doing this going back to bill polian.
  21. People talk about playmakers, moss has been more of a playmaker this year than Taylor. Pittman isn’t a playmaker that scares defenses, he is a possession receiver. I think the colts have the most limited backup qb that is starting now on any team. That gives me confidence in the colts offense when they have a top qb. I’m in the minority here in not wanting the colts to give Pittman a big contract.
