  1. Looks like he wants a rebuilding project and a team he can put his name on. I am definitely interested in the guy, the Ravens have been a well build organization and like the Colts focus on building through the draft and using free agency to add the missing pieces.

Yeah, except the Ravens go for the TOP of pile while we wait for the BOTTOM. That's what I'm hoping he brings with him, that smart but aggressive approach the off-season.

  2. there are issues that deal with his loyalty to the current ownership of the Ravens and their GM. The two towns hate each other and there are some issues that go much deeper than that - pertaining to DeCosta and some things between Colts and Ravens in recent playoffs and reg. season games that will come to light.

Well, I hope he doesn't let a little rivalry get in the way. He would be a GREAT fit!

But honestly, the only time the whole Mayflower comes up when the two play each other, otherwise, it's business as usual. I don't think he would mind coming here and building AROUND Peyton and not FOR him.

  3. It is a necessary move but honestly I blame Polian more for the special teams than any of the guys who have tried to coach them. The roster is far too top loaded with expensive skill players and has a bunch of cast offs on the special teams (other than the kickers and punters of course who have all been very good). It is very hard to try to constantly coach the Island of Misfit Toys.

Even though you are referring to the special teams, I think this is one of the reasons why we are so "hindered" when it comes to spending money. NO WAY people like Gary Brackett, Kelvin Hayden, etc. should be getting that type of money!

  4. Not me. I have never defended him. Go check all my posts since I got here. I frequently posted that I wanted Polian gone more than Caldwell even.

I just wanted to point it out for fun. :)

But it was 80% Polian-supporters and 20% anti-polian (which I was apart of). Never did like his tactics and the way he built the team. But could not really say anything because frankly, it worked. But the way he built the team was a high risk- high reward thing.

  5. Do you think that they want Peyton here in Baltimore next year if Flacco fails in the playoffs again, and Manning is released?

From the Ravens fans I know, they would take anyone BETTER than Flacco if the opportunity arose. Even though the history between the orgs is there, they would welcome Peyton with open arms. And the scary thing is, if the situation did happen, the Ravens have the bank to sign him. And Peyton with Boldin, Smith, Pitta, Evans, Rice, Leach, Ngata, Lewis, Suggs, etc....just spells dynasty.

But it's all speculation so I hope that NEVER happens and PM will retire a Colt. lol

  6. If Baltimore had a top tier QB, they would have already won their 2nd Super Bowl. Their overall talent level is awesome. Just proof once again that the QB position is the hardest and most important to find.

Yeah, definitely. That team going over the top all depends on Flacco. For the most part, they have had high draft picks like us and have been able to put some type of talent at every position. Only position I say they have failed on is the CB's, other than that the team has been built almost to perfection. If only Flacco could step his game up, they would like you said have been to AT LEAST 2 SB's.

  7. Wrong, multiple "teams" would want the pick... thus a bidding war... The Lucks telling indy not to draft him would have no impact on other teams desire to get the pick.

I'm just saying, teams would know we HAVE to trade the pick so they will use time and that to their advantage. Yeah, a bidding war might occur but him saying that puts us in a tight situation.

  8. I also live in Baltimore and I think this guy would be a great addition to the Colts front office... The Ravens are a similar team in structure to the Colts.. Draft well, promote their own, they don't typically splurge into free agency, but they will for the right piece to compliment their team. Getting Bernard Pollard at SS and Vonta Leach at FB were two great moves! Even McKenzie's fat slob self was a solid acquisition!

Yeah, they are JUST like us except different team philosophies and they WILL make a splash in FA when they need to. I kinda hoped we would follow suit but we didn't. As you can see, Leach assisted Rice in having a career year. And they made the effort to give Flacco all the weapons he need without really breaking the bank (even though he can hardly use them lol). But that's what I'm hoping, I'm hoping we can bring someone in here that will build smartly through the draft AND FA.

  9. If Irsay pays Manning the 28m bonus, then I totally see Oliver Luck telling the Colts to trade the pick or he will not sign. Andrew Luck will NOT sit for 3 or 4 years. The great thing about that potentially happnin is it takes the Colts off the hook for not drafting him and trading the pick.

If it was to happen like this, I believe it would hurt us than doing good. By "someone" coming out and telling us to trade the pick, teams will know that we are desperate to get some value for the pick and will try to lowball us. If we will/have to trade the pick, I hope it doesn't go down like this.

  10. While I appreciate the read and the info that you have posted, this topic will not be laid to rest until "We/They can not co-exist." Comes out of Manning, Irsay, Luck, or the next GM mouth. All you have done is taken an opinion from a writer/reporter/etc. and added your opinion while using "some" facts and good info. But you have not said anything factual or definite, all you have done is made predictions and using some things to back you up. Luck supporters can do the same thing with another article saying the opposite of what you are saying. So, I know what you are trying to do, and I respect it and agree on some points and disagree on others, but you haven't cleared anything up, you have actually continued the discussion.

  11. Here's the thing the people saying we shuold take another poistion we aren't going to do that. Luck is going to be the top pick the question is will the Colts be the team that make that pick or will we trade it away and it's a question we wont have an answer too till the new GM is in place and frankly till the team gets a better understanding of Manning's health.

    +1

No one can make assumptions as if we have definite information. We as fans do not know anything right now. All we can do is speculate and create "ifs".

  12. No they didn't.

They didn't abstain due to competition within the team. They abstained due to indifference with the perspective franchises.

Whether the reasons were different or not, they were still vocal about there demands, that's what I want to point out, not their reasons. Andrew is not gonna suffer to just make his image look good. If he wants to sit, he will say no problem. If he doesn't, he will say I want to go on a team where I have an opportunity to compete for the starting job. It's pretty simple.

  13. exactly, I hate to say this and may get some hate but he looked like a college version of the NFL Manning. Adjusting the offense, changing plays, etc.

And that's what I want in a QB. RG3 is good but he's not the good I want. He has good tangibles (not as much as Luck) but he uses his physical strengths (legs, arm, etc.) more than mental (changing plays, reads, etc.). I feel Luck will be more of a fit for what we do than RG3. We do not run the type of offense that calls for scrambling and buying time. Our offense is built on timing and being as close to perfection as possible.

  14. Apples to cinder blocks.

I understand that they are two different situations, but Young was willing to sit after having a successful college career, signing a record contract, and running his own for three years (even if the organization was crap). Now I understand that we live in a different generation but I'm just saying that the "sitting" thing has happened. Maybe with not as high of a draft pick, but it has happened.

So what, Oklahoma State has an average at best defense.. Two TD's and you are ready to declare this guy the next Peyton Manning? Case Keenum played better yesterday, that's who I was impressed with.

I don't want to compare college to the NFL, but most NFL defenses nowadays are average at best. Give a QB with good tangibles time to adjust to the NFL and he will perform. It's only a handful of teams in the NFL that really have great defenses.

  15. For them to say anything but, would be seen as unprofessional. Would you profess that you wouldn't be willing to work with a new co-worker because you view him as a threat or a hindrance? That wouldn't look good on the 'ol resume, would it?

Eli did it, Elway did it, why wouldn't Luck do it if he had the chance? It's kind of like an interview setting (going off your work analogy). If the interviewer told me the job consisted of rubbing poo on my face, am I going to give him a political answer just to not rub him a certain way and suffer with rubbing poo on my face? Going off history (not speaking for a player), players tend to be vocal. Yes, there are political answers and professionalism, but this is not the NBA, NFL players tend to be upfront when it comes to demands.

  16. I am speaking for what makes football sense, nothing more. I am not speaking for either player, but I promise you that Luck will not be holding a clipbord this time next year anywhere.

I agree, it's a chance we will not draft Luck and trade the pick. Anything can happen. But speaking for a player or anyone is not football sense. Who said Steve Young wouldn't sit behind Montana for 3 years?
