Collie's problem was never his talent, it were those dang head injuries. Glad to see he's found a home and he's making an impact already. I wish him the best.
-
See it's hard to say though. That's more or less just rumor. What does it even mean to be interested? Does it really mean that we made him an offer?? That's highly doubtful considering that the article was reported before we where even allowed to start talking to the player's agent about him.
Honestly I think someone in the organization was basically telling the reporter that he was on our radar and Grigs was scouting him and had people watching film on him as a possible signing.
You could say that he went to Denver cause he liked that situation better and that makes sense. But Levitre went to Tennessee and they hardly have a better situation then us. The only thing that would make sense then is he has a thing about that team (for some reason he really just wanted to play for the Titans) or that we didn't offer him enough.
At this point I tend to think Grigs likes middle of the road players in free agency and prefers to develop his own stars through the draft.
Yeah, I agree. To be honest, I think it came down to money with Levtrie.
And also on Grigs too. I think he's not scared to go and get high profile players, but if there are players who have some talent and will suffice, he won't be scared to grab them either.
-
We showed interest in a lot of guys, but considering how quickly we signed Donald Thomas, I'm not certain that we actually offered either Levitre or Vasquez. I highly doubt we offered Avril, given what his initial demands were.
When I hear interest, I just take it as we gave it a chance, not meaning we offered them, but it could mean that we contacted them and it didn't work out.
But to be honest, both of our guard spots needed an upgrade so I don't think we can just go off the Donald Thomas signing.
-
I could be wrong, but I think those rumors about offering those players $$ were false....as was much of the reporting during free agency.
I hope it wasn't because it showed we were serious about solving problems. Not saying we weren't at all, just like to see the new "Go and get it" attitude of the Colts.
-
Didn't know we gave Levtrie and Vasquez offers. How do you know that? Where the offers too small??
Cherilus may have been the best RT in FA last year but he was hardly a name player. The name players where Long and Vollmer.
I don't have a source for Levtrie but I remember seeing a tweet posted inside the FA thread that was going on.
Vasquez - http://www.sbnation.com/2013/2/26/4032152/nfl-rumors-colts-interest-louis-vasquez
I'm only inferring that the offer was too small or the Broncos were a more attractive situation. Seeing as we showed interest and he didn't come here.
And I know this is on the opposite side of the ball, but we were interested in Avril also.

Are you sure that Grigs even wants to sign the best O-lineman?? It seems to me that he wants to get middle of the road players in free agency.
He didn't really sign any big name players the last off season.
No, he did try last year. We gave Levtrie AND Vasquez offers. They were basically, the best lineman of the FA period last year, besides Jake Long (and we knew Clady was resigning anyway). As you can see we got Cherilus who many believed was the best tackle in FA last year, we tried.
-
We are going to need that space to sign the best O-lineman (or two) that are available.
No *footing around.
Yeah, we tried this year and they did not bite on the offers we gave them. Hopefully, with the success they will bite this free agency.

He's good at blocking, but I sure remember everyone hyping him up as this deep threat...that I have yet to see.
Simple. Pep hasnt beeen sending him deep.

Maybe the most impressive thing watching Luck today is his poise in the pocket as all heck is breaking loose around him.
This basically describes our offensive line.

RGIII, for some odd reason, gets all the praise over a guy who is coming back game after game from deficit after deficit to lead the Colts to a 11-5 record.
I remember the rg3 vs luck war on this board. Many wanted to trade the pick and draft rg3. Some even wanted to trade the pick and try to give peyton a last hurrah. Hindsight now says we made the right decision. No way rg3 would have lasted behind this atrocious line. Also, seems like its all love for luck around here now.

I agree with the op. Many expect trich to come in and learn a playbook and become accomadated with the team without a preaseson and training camp, all in 3 weeks.
His time will come, trust me. No ofense, but we are not cleveland.

Reggie has the best hands in football IMO. Period. Haters coming up with excuses. AP uses HGH, now Reggie uses stickum. What's next, a player smokes weed...oh wait.
-
Best game he has had to me, though it wasn't an earth shattering performance
That's who he is, a "get the job done" type of guy. I agree, dude had a good game. I saw him in on a good amount of plays. Some plays he was there to push the runner inside but it was the inside that couldn't stop the runner.
-
Maybe that same Defense that's seeing DB in the backfield is thinking it's a pass vs seeing T-Rich in the backfield thinking it's a run.
This. It's going to be hard for T-Rich because when he's in it's mostly likely a run. They need to use him out of the backfield more so defenses can start respecting him.

Is Harvey really flexing after planting a punter?
That is what I am laughing off of! Not the hit, but the flex at the end.
Lame, but I like it. Means we're playing with intensity, nastiness, and aggression. Anyone can become a victim of the monster.
-
The blueprint for beating Peyton is already out there. Keep him off the field. Period.
Yup, make your drives useful by either scoring or milking the clock.
-
Romo played a part with the INT but he's not the sole reason, if at all, he's the reason why they were in the game. I blame the coach. I don't know why he wanted to shoot it out with Peyton. He had the lead and the ball, why not milk the clock? Instead, they kept giving the ball back to Peyton. smh
-
So the light has shone on you my child?
I guess so. lol
Just didn't want to make a premature assumption on the guy. But after today, he has my vote. Should be at least a 90 on madden. lol

It's just amazing how many doubted us last year, doubted us this year, and now we are kicking the down the teams that those doubters picked to succeed. Well, let them keep picking and we'll keep kicking. This was a statement game. I think the league is on notice by now.
-
We were playing against one of the best football teams in the league and who many consider a SB contender. Dude did pretty well if you ask me.
-
Freeman got it.
-
Good assessment. I think containing is something that is going to be a problem for us this year.
EDIT: Mathis is that guy.
-
Ok. But look at his running style, not effective. Maybe the coaches should move him to FB. Ok, ok...I'll give him another game to show me something, anything.
So, that's unfair. It will be his 3rd game against the Seahawks.

I get what you are saying smitty but Ware is a liability in coverage so maybe he is not the best example
Every player has their weakness, but even though ware is a liability, dude is a monster in almost all phases of defense. But yeah, ware is a bad example lol. Even though I have seen him get a couple picks and batted passes during my time, he still isn't the best.
PFF: "Richardson Working Hard for Minimal Gains"

Yeah, but it's Richardson who is the problem *sarcasm*
