My take on our draft!

I will be going over our first 3 rounds. I think that we will end up with a 3-13 record and the 2nd pick in the draft. A team will want Logan Thomas and we will get 3 future first's and a second. We will be at the 6th pick in the draft. We should trade down yet again, this time to 10, and pick up another second.

With this pick, we choose Chance Warmack, OG Alabama. Warmack is a beast!! He completely dominated the Michigan defensive line and I don't think his man made a tackle in the game. He had at least 6 pancakes in the game. He blocks until the whistle blows. On one play a Michigan defensive player had a step on him and got the first push and leverage on Warmack, but Warmack used his will power to eventually pancake the opposing lineman. Oh yeah, he also has never been injured in his college career. He would allow Andrew Luck to not worry about stepping up in the pocket and could finally give us a good run game.

With the first of our 2 second round picks, we choose Aaron Dobson, WR Marshall. Dobson is a big WR with great hands. At 6-3 and with a basketball backround, he will go over defenders to get the ball. He has great, consistent hands and will snag the ball right from a defender. He is not a great route runner, but working with Reggie should help that. He has good top end speed. Dobson will be that #1 WR we have been looking for to replace Reggie when he retires. Here is a video that displays his hands.

With the second of our 2 second rounders, we pick TJ Mcdonald, S USC. Mcdonald loves to hit. He is a captain for the veteran USC squad, which shows his leadership. He averaged about 6 tackles per game, which is pretty impressive to me. He could bring back that fire that we haven't had since Bob Sanders left. If we draft Mcdonald and he pans out, we could have one of the best safety tandems in the league.

With our third round pick we pick Brennan Williams, OT UNC. Williams could play opposite Anthony Castonzo and help protect Luck. He is very athletic and strong. He flashes a meanstreak and will get nasty. He is a LT, but is probably more suited to be a right tackle. If we drafted Williams and Warmack to go with Castonzo and Satele, our O-Line would be solidified for almost all of Luck's career.

Nice blog Coltsguy511. I really like the homework on the videos.

As most on the site know who are familiar with my philosophy, I tend to live in 'the moment.' I want to see how we progress with the players we currently have under the tutelage of what I consider to be a FANTASTIC 'teaching' staff of football coaches. For example, even though the OL has been crucified, watching the footwork and blocking during some of the 1st string offense's 'big plays' shows that there is 'attention to fundamentals.' Love it....Allen and Castonzo in particular.

As for your positional choices, at this point I agree. ROG and RT is a work in progress and needs an upgrade. Some dislike Reitz at LG, but watch his footwork. Playing basketball....is huge even for the big lineman. He WILL get better and better barring injury.

I love a WR and TE that have 'bad' basketball skills as well.....so I like your choice (Go up and get it!!!)

Lastly, we have cap room next year to make our draft needs change as well.....but as I live in the moment with this year's team....the architecture/blueprint of our COLTS has me being soooooo positive and optimistic for the future.

Thanks for the blog and nice videos!!!

Concepts are great - you are all over the significant needs. Not much chance that we'll end up with the windfall of picks you suggest - we are going to be a much better football team than that - but I get that it is an interesting and plausible scenario.

Believing that this will be the highest we'll draft in the Luck era - my priority is the D line if there is a stud available. Over the years, we've proven that big athletic DT type bodies are the most difficult to find outside of the top 10-15 of the draft. They rarely are available thru free agency as well. We can pick up a quality RG and even RT through free agency, but I'd hate to pass on the opportunity to draft our version of Ngata - if one exists and is BPA. There are several projected DT bodies that could classify as top 10 talents.

Trading back if we are in the top 5 would be a big possibility.

Drafting in the top ten I would expect Grigson to go for value and that would mean LT, CB, WR, or a pass rush LB/DE.

The reason I went with Warmack, is because he is an even better prospect the Decastro and our RG has been very weak.

I believe that we should win more than 3 games, but there is always the possibility. I think that we win 3-6 games this season,

Great Job, 511..!!

Honestly, you are WAY ahead of me on doing your homework for the class of 2013. I'm with Kiper/McShay/NFL.com guys, plus Pro Football Weekly. At least for now, that's it for me.

So, I can't comment on who you want to take.

But here's what I can say....

Please God, let us not finish 3-13! If we do we have SERIOUS problems. Andrew is hurt in week 1 and misses the season. Stanton is our QB all year. That's the only way we finish 3-13.

But, the biggest and most important point you got right. Trading down. And maybe even trading down twice and picking up added draft choices. It's a must for us. Major props to you for going there.

The only other somewhat negative comment to make is to say you've projected that we'll use 3 of our first 4 picks on offense. I think if that happens then Greg Manusky will try to murder both Grigson and Pagano!!

His side of the ball needs help -- badly. You're going to have to throw him a few early bones. Maybe his issues get mostly solved in Free Agency, but I wouldn't bet on it.

One last thought.... we've got to get you OUT OF ALASKA!! How Cow, you live in Alaska?!? Are Dad and Mom in the Witness Protection program?? If not, we've got to you get out of there and down to the lower-48!!

Great job! And thanks for giving me the heads-up. I never go to the Blogs. I try and stay on the message boards. Appreciate you shooting me the message!

Thanks again!

Also, maybe after we trade down and Star Lotuleilei or Jonathan Hankins are available, we pick them and than we trade one of the seconds, a third, and fourth round pick to move back into the first round, around picks 12 and 13, and draft Warmack. Than we would draft Reid in the second. That would be an awesome draft to me.
