  1. It would be hard not to like this kid. He’s very confident, possibly to the point of cockiness. But not obnoxiously so. I’m getting a good feeling about his fit in the offense and in the locker room… It would be hard not to like this kid. He’s very confident, possibly to the point of cockiness. But not obnoxiously so. 2. I don’t disagree with you. He’s surprised me with how well he’s played on the outside. But we just drafted three long-armed QBs, showing me that CB might be looking for some lengthier guys on the outside. So, a move to the inside for Rodgers seemed likely…
  3. I’ve never really liked Rodgers on the outside - too short of arms. I had Rodgers as a nickel guy…
  4. That cb competition will be fun. I’ve had Rush and Flowers as outside starters for Game one since the draft, but there are lots of possibilities…
  5. Funny, in the off-season I pretty much wrote Pinter off. He proved to me that he didn’t have the sand in his pants to play OG, and do we really want a center-only back-up who can’t get nasty and push people around in the run game? But, after seeing that Ballard is still giving him public love, I’m guessing he’s still very much in favor. I always liked him as a center…
  6. On paper, the depth isn’t great. But I’m hopeful. I loved Freeland in the run-up to the draft. And there’s some potential, with Ekiyor, French, O’Donnell, Witt, and Pinter. I think it could all work out fine in the end…
  7. Yeah, I don’t think I’d be interested enough to actually go to another team’s TC. I follow the Patriots’ draft and depth chart so I can talk to people about the team, but going to their TC would be unpleasant. Too many Pat fans!
  8. Well, I’m jealous. I always wanted to go to TC, and I used to live a couple of hours away in Kentucky. But now it seems like it’ll have to be a special trip out there with hotel stays and side trips to visit my old Kentucky friends. It’ll be a major undertaking if it ever actually happens…
  9. That’s dedication! Where are you? Colorado?
  10. I thought I’d pop over to TC during a long lunch hour today, but I looked it up and it’s 887 miles for me…so, I suppose I’ll have to rely on Chloe’s excellent reporting (et al.).
  11. He plays in week 1 or 2. I’ll say his first start is Game 11 (TB@Indy). That gives him more than half a season to learn, and getting his first two starts against TB and Tennessee is ideal. He seems high-strung, and I’d hate to destroy his confidence right off the bat…
  12. Reading a few articles about Risner, now. I think I had the wrong impression - apparently he's better known as a pass-blocker. They didn't call him a liability in the run game, but my logic above probably doesn't hold up too well...
  13. I'm always an optimist, but I get that feeling too.
  14. And our roster has been down two players since we cut our two gamblers. I feel that Risner is indeed in the cards. If we go towards AR early in the season, the key will be to have Taylor and AR lead a dominating run game. Risner has always been a good run blocker. I’m not sure he’d start over Fries, so I wouldn’t spend too much, but he hasn’t received much interest elsewhere (it seems)…
  15. I’m really feeling the Minshew is going to be the starter at the beginning of the season. He’ll start at least the first four games, and then Steichen will make the change to AR based upon what he’s seeing in the QB room and the practice field. And I’m sure Minshew’s performance and the team’s record will figure in the decision also. AR learning on the bench, Minshew being this year’s Geno Smith, and the Colts winning the division would be an ideal season…
  16. The irony is that I heard he took the Under on the number of games he’d be suspended for, so he lost that bet too!
  17. 1987: Duane Bickett Barry Krauss Cliff Odom Johnny Cooks
  18. He made the roster last year. If the team didn’t want to risk trying to pass him to the PS, they must have seen something there worth developing…
  19. We should get used to that. Nothing about our team will scream “rapid improvement” to any national analysts. It’s funny - we started 4-5-1, with a win over KC. Then, we lost the last seven. Seems to me that the first half of 2022 was closer to who this team is, and the last bit was a lost team without any hope. But, the media just thinks that we’re a four-win team that hasn’t improved much, if at all…
  20. I have no worries about LT with Raimann’s impressive end to 2022. My worries are at RG and C. I might be really open to starting Freeman at RT if he has an impressive TC and shuffling Braden over to RG. If Kelly doesn’t step it up, I’d be fine with a little Center competition between French, Pinter, and Shepley. Gotta know when to cut bait with players who’ve lost it. It’s a good demonstration to the team of being held accountable for your performance. The team knows when someone isn’t pulling his weight…
  21. 1) Richardson’s first start is Game 5 vs. the Titans. Doesn’t seem fair to put a home opener against Jax on AR’s shoulders, and Minshew gives us the best chance to win. Let AR learn how to prepare for a game during the first quarter of the season. If we can come away with at least two wins during that time period (Texans and Rams?), we’ll still be in the thick of things when AR leads us in a very winnable game against the Titans. 2) Danny Pinter doesn’t make the team. He was beyond terrible at OG last year, and I’m not sure that his usefulness as a back-up center is worth keeping him around. French and Ekiyor back up the interior. 3) Dallis Flowers starts at least 10 games. With Rodgers likely suspended and three or more rookies in the mix (I have a feeling about that Cole Coleman UCFA from Elon), the CB competition will be chaos. Rush and Brents had to watch OTAs from the sideline. Moore and Flowers are the top veterans, and Flowers already looked good in OTAs. Anyone care to make some bold predictions?
  22. 5th Round Safety was placed on the IR. Must’ve torn something at OTAs…
  23. Honestly, Pinter failing to make the team would be one of my bold predictions for the year. Back-up OL need to be able to play more than one position, and he proved last year that he doesn’t have the strength to hold up at OG. Unless you want Pinter to start at Center, I’d just as soon keep French or Shepley who theoretically might not be pathetic at OG…
  24. It’s a reasonable flyer on this guy. You don’t end up with a strong 53 by coming to camp with exactly 53 worthy players. If he surprises and we have a WR injury or two, he could contribute…
