And you think the Colts don't?

What exactly about this past season has proven the Colts are stable beyond your fandom?

For months they kept talking about how Luck would return only for him to go on IR.

The Giants team had a lot of injuries and got rid of McAdoo and at least after that the team seemed to gather itself by the end.

How about that they have one of the most respected up and coming GM’s in the league? That they’ve had one losing season in the past six years?

Irsay acknowledged that his timeline was wrong and that Luck’s comeback took way longer than they anticipated. Irsay is only at fault for being overly optimistic but not for being purposely dishonest like you are alluding to.

For the shade thrown at Pagano, we can atleast say that he never lost the locker room the way that McAdoo did. Not to mention, the Giants are closer to a flat out reset than the Colts are.

Well considering Irsay let the Perfect season in 2009 get thrown away

As well as dumping Manning after he got hurt (which was a blessing in disguise for Peyton in retrospect) and complained about only winning one SB.

Yeah I don't get how you gather the Giants are worse in that regard.

That being said I think Daddy Mara was the better owner than his son who seems to appear more stable.

And Irsay is a better owner than his father but is a loose cannon.

You really are grasping at straws here. The Giants have an absolute mess in their organization right now from there front office all the way down to their locker room at the present time. And the Irsay fodder is flat out wrong as well. Irsay has respect all around the league despite his personal issues and his tendency to speak his mind in unorthodox ways.

Until I see it confirmed from the Colts themselves, I'm gonna follow JMVs advice and chalk it up to a rumor. Ballard has such a tight lip going on over there on W 56th st, no one knows what truly is their thinking

I’m willing to bet it’s true. Those type of things are really tough to keep secret for any length of time.

We had an entire thread on this after the press conference, a week and a half ago.

By the way, here's what Polian said recently about Jim Irsay's role in a coaching search:

This idea that Irsay would be a detriment to hiring a coach is -- and pardon my bluntness -- just dumb.

Chicago’s situation is likely better though. Young QB, young franchise RB and a dynamic change of pace back, pieces on the OL. Indy has good ownership for sure but our situation is shaky depending how you view Luck’s health. Plus we’ve got a tough division that features 2 of the NFL’s top defenses.

No it's not. Colts have the opportunity to get a special RB, have a #1 WR, working pieces on the defense, ton of cap space and a good GM. You really think the NFC North is any easier with Minnesota and its defense and Aaron Rodgers and the Packers coming back next year? Detroit isn't a walkover for them either.

Trubisky vs Luck? That’s not even a debate. But why would McDaniels not be as high on Trubisky? Why wouldn’t he want to work with a young QB with upside? You’re telling me the person who is being called one of the best offensive minds in football wasn’t as good a fit as another guy who has 1 month of playcalling experience because he really liked the young QB? Not buying it

That’s a reach. Not saying that my assertion is bulletproof but we’re talking about something that would be harder to support than the idea that the Bears just weren’t that impressed with McDaniels.

You answer your own question in the first three sentences. McDaniels may not have liked the situation with Chicago as much as he might here. Indy has a lot to offer to a head coaching candidate with stable ownership, a well-connected GM, high draft pick this year and a really good franchise QB already in place that's already pretty well developed. The with the only reason question mark is Luck's health. But from what everyone has gathered, that likely won't be an issue either.

Because the best OC who is interviewing for a HC job is probably McDaniels. If Nagy who’s only been a playcaller for 6 weeks got hired before McDaniels than that must mean none of the teams are that into McDaniels. Remember that the Bears also interviewed him. If the Bears didn’t want him, I’m not sure why the Colts would. Only other option is he turned the Bears down but I don’t see that as the case.

Why would the Colts follow what the Bears are doing? This is flawed reasoning.

There was a big rumor that Nagy liked Trubisky since he was drafted and wanted to work with him so that might've been a factor.

Luck played his best with a good blocker/reciever in the backfield. Ahmad Bradshaw really helped Luck to that next level. Barkley has that potential, but also potential as a top 5 rusher in the NFL.

Agreed. I think people forget how much better the Colts offense was when he was healthy and playing. He added a great wrinkle to the offense that hasn't been completely replicated since that time (Frank Gore included).

Yeah I was gonna say...I know Irsay and Ballard talked about a second round of interviews but their might only be like 3 guys we interviewed/were scheduled to interview anyways.

Wilks meets with the Giants and Arizona on Tuesday/Wednesday, before us. Could get hired at one of those places.

Yeah and I'm surprised that there hasn't been a lot of news on Toub for interviews anywhere, especially here. Could still be in the pipeline but I haven't seen anything on it yet.

In terms of Wilks, I like him and what I've seen in interviews but his path seems a little too similar to Pagano's which tells me he may not be fully ready for this level of role yet. Its the same issue that I have with Vrabel but he has even less than Wilks.

try watching games and forming your own opinions rather than reading what others think.  I've you've watched many Patriot games the past several years you'd have your own idea of how he's done as far as talent development, playcalling and leadership.  I don't care of the players love him or not, frankly.

I think that mantra has changed as well. Part of the reason why players didn't like him is because how he treated players and staff. He was very impersonal which led to guys not wanting to go the extra mile for him. I believe that's changed now though. Failure is sometimes the biggest teacher.
