Jesus christ...didn't expect to get an essay about how bad LeBron is just for that one little comment.

You never stop. We get it. You hate LeBron James. Figured that out last year, gotcha.

That would be like someone being a Jordan and Peyton fan and saying Jordan is the GOAT because he has the most Rings in the modern era being the best player on his team but so is Peyton eventhough he only has 2 Rings but he has 5 League MVP's

I don't even know how you can still bring Peyton's name into this even after this last SB. I've been hearing this crap for so many years about him some how being the best quarterback ever, despite his hilariously bad playoff history.

What happened with all 5 of those league MVP's? He didn't win a Super Bowl with any of them. In fact, his last two, he reached the SB and lost...once to throwing the classic interception to Tracy Porter and the other, he had the so called "best offense in NFL history" and put up just...8 points. That's Peyton Manning for you.

Peyton throws a pick six in the big one, he gets blown out...Brady came back and won the game after a pick six and trailing by 25 points in the second half. This last SB practically shatters all these myths, including the ones about Joe Montana (he would've eventually lost a SB if you look at certain years he lost the NFCCG).

League MVP is nothing. The last one to actually win a Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999. I wouldn't brag about those MVP's, since we all know what happened to Peyton after getting them.

Looking at these essays you wrote me about how LeBron really ain't crap compared to all these other guys who got rings (you never do mention Bill Russell, which he is the counter of the ring argument when it comes to the NBA), I have to wonder about LeBron haters like you - why can't you just sit back and enjoy it? Same thing with this last SB....Instead of enjoying it, bring up Peyton Manning as if there is any way you can argue him side by side with Brady anymore.

It don't matter what LeBron does, there's always going to be the haters that scream "but MJ MJ MJ, Kobe Kobe Kobe, Magic Magic Magic!" He could score 100 points in a game, and you would still find something to nitpick.

Well I am sorry you took it the way you did, I figured with our history in chat you would respond with something witty and have fun with it and not get upset. I defend you all the time on here when people call you a Troll because I have got to know you know as a person. LeBron is clearly a Top 10 player of all-time. I was just playing devil's advocate on how people rank players when comparing players with more Rings to other things like MVP's and Stats something I thought you would appreciate and dissect. Instead you just Post in anger. I wont Post on your thread anymore, how's that sound? I don't need too as I have 20 something followers anyway so no big deal to me.

  2. And 3 months later, no more Cooks. This article was true back in December, we are truly better off without him.

    http://www.blackandgoldreview.com/2016/12/05/too-many-cooks

    Quote

Here’s the thing about Cooks: He’s pretty good at playing receiver, but he has failed in almost every additional role the Saints envisioned for him when they traded up to select him during the 2014 draft. Cooks is the worst punt returner the Saints have had under Sean Payton, which is saying a lot for a punt returner under Sean Payton. He brings nothing to special teams, unlike a Reggie Bush or Darren Sproles. He’s terrible in the open field — when was the last time you saw him beat a tackler in space? — so he doesn’t threaten defenses in the way Bush or Sproles could, or current wunderkind Michael Thomas does. He never produces more than the defense, or his team, gives him.

Cooks has two skills: He catches the ball well, and he runs very fast. Cooks rolled up 84 receptions and 1138 yards last year, and should be close to those numbers again when 2016 finally ends. Watching Cooks get behind a defense and outrun the world is a joy. When he does that, half a dozen or so times a year, it’s great. When he doesn’t, he catches five or six or seven routine passes and forces defenses to account for his speed. He’s fine, but he prioritizes his numbers over his role.

      Thats an understatement.......lmao

The Saints though often seem cursed on defense like we are with the Colts at times. Although we tend to have a few "good" players who we live and die off of and then we hope the rest around them can play at a level above high school.

Our special teams though have rocked lately. The Saints special teams cost them the win vs. the Giants.

Mickey Loomis has been the Saints GM for the past 16 years, and they've only had a decent defense in 4 of those years. That's 1/4th of his entire term.

I'm just going to call it a purgatorial time loop like one of those articles on that site called it. lmaolmao

We know ahead of time the defense is going to suck too...and now I get why. That article broke it down how hiring Rob Ryan was like an alternate universe version of Gregg Williams. Same thing for Dennis Allen, he was here in 2009...and nothing has changed. Our players are still undisciplined and draw pass interference and personal foul penalties as they push receivers down before the ball is even thrown.

If you want a laugh, just look at this

      http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2016/10/saints_different_opinions_on_c.html#incart_river_index

That's our players, literally whining about the refs on a legal catch. A CATCH, and they're looking for some excuse...

Saints fans can say what they want about Harper, Jenkins, Porter, all those old players we used to have; but those guys didn't run to the media and blame the refs after close losses. They accepted it and moved on...our guys, were brought up in a toxic environment and it clearly shows with lack of veteran leadership when they run to the media and blame the refs after every loss.

Jules you're right, the Rams deserve it though. They have not made the playoffs now in 12 years. The last time they had a 10 win season was 2003 with the remnants of the GSOT

I'm hoping Goff becomes the next Kurt Warner for them, they've desperately needed a QB for a long time now.

I am never picking Green Bay to win again. Not after 2014 when they had a gift wrapped playoff game handed to them vs Dallas, then a week later put up the greatest choke job ever in an NFCCG game. This is a team that can't even win when the other QB gifts them 5 interceptions...

This past off season, their defense got worse...That's usually what costs them in the playoffs every year besides Rodgers getting outplayed by other QB's. I don't trust the Packers at all...Only way they get in is if the entire NFC regresses, and they have some year like 2010 where they get a perfect match in every playoff game.

This happens every year though...GB is the favorites every summer and it always ends the same way with a big epic blow out. I knew that whole week leading up to the NFCCG that Atlanta was going to beat them to pieces...I could just feel it.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

I think I am going to roll with Seattle as a safe pick...I trust them a hell lot more than I do GB even though they're a team that is regressing...The Packers can't even beat them in a playoff game where Wilson easily give them 5 interceptions. That's why I have no faith in GB...If not for Atlanta, we would still be talking about that 2014 NFCCG as the perfect choke job...

I've felt for the past 2 years we were going to get a Seahawks/Pats SB rematch. I am probably totally wrong, but it just feels like a safer pick.

The Saints aren't contenders even if they do have a good season. My gut tells me the saints go 10-6 or 11-5 and I am usually very negative about their chances...This team just feels so much better to me right now, I don't know what it is. But the Panthers concern me cause they're so unpredictable and usually when they're under the radar, that's when they have that special 11-5 season where they come out of nowhere and take it.

The Giants are another team that is hyped up like GB every year, and I don't see it happening for them either. Their best player is a baby who completely loses his mind the minute a corner can play physical with him....Coughlin isn't there anymore, so any wish that Odell matures and stops imitating Andre Rison, Terrell Owens and Steve Smith, that ain't gonna happen...Odell will be the death of that team, and I don't feel sorry for them at all.

Seattle and GB are safe picks cause they play in god awful divisions. This will be yet another year a mediocre Packers team wins the NFC North cause it's the new AFC South, and Seattle will cruise to an easy division win since no one in the NFC West is competent to give them issues except the Rams who will probably sweep them and still go 6-10.

After what I have seen about MJ lately in some videos and how much favoritism he got, he can go shove it at times IMO. I know that is like criticizing Jesus (I do that too btw) but I just don't care. Yes MJ was an all time great but RELAX already with the hero worship. He was a PRODUCT.

And for those who think I am a meanie burger, I am actually RAISING Peyton Manning on my all time list mentally now and maybe ahead of Brady since I am dead sick and tired of Tom Brady. I swear too Brady is on something........he is 39 years old and looks 26 out there. Peyton at least looked old when he was........old.

What really got me about Brady was his stupid hissy fits during the Ravens game weeks ago. Like he literally EXPLODED in fits of rage when the Ravens were meanies to him and played you know actual defense.

    3. 2006Coltsbestever

@Jules, by the way I hated the Bulls and Jordan. So me defending him makes me sick haha. You guys think I hate LeBron, LeBron had nothing on how I hated Jordan. I couldn't stand the Bulls as they won every damn year and blocked the Pacers from winning in 1998, a series I felt like the Pacers got ripped off by the REFS in Game 7. Regarding Brady and Peyton, I think both are Top 5 QB's of all-time and really cant see how it can be argued that either aren't. Brady has 4 Rings as a starter, Peyton has 2 with 2 different teams as a starter. Peyton has 5 League MVP's and a SB MVP, Brady has 2 League MVP's and 3 SB MVP's. Peyton also is the all-time leader in TD's thrown and Yards Passing.

    4. 2006Coltsbestever

      2006Coltsbestever

My Top 5 all-time QB's list would look like this:

      1. Joe Montana - 4 SB wins as a starter, 2 League MVP's, 3 SB MVP's

      2. Johnny Unitas - 2 Championships in the 50's, set the standard

      3. Tom Brady - 4 SB wins as a starter, 2 League MVP's, 3 SB MVP's

      4. Peyton Manning - 2 SB wins as a starter, 5 League MVP's, 1 SB MVP

      5. John Elway - 2 SB wins as a starter, 1 League MVP, 1 SB MVP

Honorable mentions: Dan Marino/Brett Favre/Otto Graham

-I have tons of opinions that could support my Top 5 and Mentions. See you both know how much I hate the Pats and Tom Brady but I still have him rated 1 spot higher than Peyton. Main reason is, how Brady has performed in the Playoffs compared to Peyton. Brady was better on the biggest stages, much like Jordan and Magic was compared to LeBron. Having Belichick has helped Brady out though IMO and Brady isn't the GOAT. It's Joe Montana IMO and Unitas set the standards for all QB's back in the 50's and 60's so I have him 2nd. Unitas had over 40,000 Yards for his career and back then that was unheard of. He also won 2 Championships in the 50's before the SB era. Regarding Montana he was 4-0 in SB games and threw no INT's in those 4 games, he also had over 40,000 Yards for his career + 2 League MVP's and 3 SB MVP's. You guys have to remember back before the 90's, throwing for more than 40,000 Yards was a huge deal. Now days it's a top heavy passing league. Terry Bradshaw won 4 SB's as a starter as well but his Career Stats were suck city and IMO he played on teams that had some of the greatest Defenses of all-time which took a ton of pressure off of him trying to carry a team.

-Back to Brady, no way is he the GOAT. You cant lose to Eli twice in the SB when you are a heavy favorites, having said that other than those 2 blunders Brady has been magnificent on the big stage. Even he wins another SB I don't think I would put him over Montana or Unitas. I have Marino in my Honorable Mentions and he never won 1 but he carried teams/put up huge Stats and by the eye test everyone with common sense knows how great he was. He lost to Montana in the SB he made it too otherwise he would have a Ring. Favre is one of my other Honorable Mentions, he won 3 League MVP's in a row from 1995-1997 + he won a Ring as a starter and put up insane career Stats. He also was the Ironman of Football holding the record for most starts without missing a game. Otto Graham made it as well. He won several Championships before the SB era and came into the league before Unitas but he didn't change the game like Unitas did, Unitas set many standards and was clearly the better pure Passer between those 2.

Absolutely, Free Agency just filled holes for the most part. He's hyping the draft as the way to build a team, so it's vital that he hits on those picks. If he misses, we are no better or even worse than last year with our strategy in Free Agency.

Weird video that is hard to understand...depending on how to look at it. The man is waiting for a date that is never going to show up...probably a lover that died or an old friend. Some how parallels with the young girl who wants her favorite band to show up yet knows they won't.

Interesting video. I see a parallel with grown up despair portrayed by the man against the youthful innocence of the young girl. Both are full of hope that someone is going to show up. But, neither will get it. The why part is up to interpretation but both long for it. And in the end we are all hopeless.....just waiting......for nothing. But, in the end all you can often do is laugh and live in the moment.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

Great interpretation. it's a well done video.

  14. Re-watched the Force Awakens twice yesterday....The more I go back to this film, the less I am impressed with it. Each scene is very nostalgia heavy, and the film does a terrific job paying tribute to what Star Wars is about all in image. One could write a book demonstrating it scene by scene what the film is calling back to in the classic movies.

However, as beautiful as a film is, it don't make up for lack of storytelling. Essentially it's a New Hope 2.0 in it's framework and Abrams and company played this VERY safe. Why does the Empire still exist 40 years ago blowing up the death star and killing Vader and the Emperor? Why do the rebels still act (and look) like a rag tag team of partisans opposing the bigger established system? If anything, the rebels should be the ones in power now and whatever is left of the Empire should be scattered and weak.

After further thought on this, I wish they would have went with more original EU material to make up a story. Timothy Zahn's book and the character of Thrawn alone, could have inspired a much better film.

Star Trek is far more technical and complicated than Star Wars ever could be.

Most Sci Fi material tends to be a bit complicated since a lot of the writers tend to focus on sociological factors besides science.

Star Wars really is just fantasy with a coat of space paint over it. All the stories and the characters have their parallels to various mythologies and it's not a coincidence why you see biblical sounding names in Star Wars, and stuff that looks like it's from mythologies. Since a lot of mythologies and old tales have meanings that are easy to relate to, the same goes for what is in Star Wars' context with a lot of the characters.

Star Trek is really complicated and is kinda hard to get into at first, and it's far more politically thought out than Star Wars ever was. In Star Wars, you have good and evil. Star Trek is a lot more branched out besides simple black and white good/evil themes. To put it simple; had the Empire or the Sith been in Star Trek, it would have been far more thought out and explained what their ideology and goals are, besides THEY'RE EVIL BAD GUYS.

Another big Sci Fi series but I have not sat down with it is Battlestar Galactica. Not as complex as Star Trek but still complex. I almost began watching this recently after I realized that Edward James Olmos gets to play Lt. Castillo in space, and managed to get some Emmy nominations.

      Bogie,

I do agree that JJ Abrams deserves considerable credit for paying homage to the original trilogies saga [the folklore mystique of the original 1977 classic] while at the same time promoting a new female heroine to pull in a greater number of women fans to give this version of Star Wars a twist with some new teeth or fangs to it.

The difference between Star Wars & Star Trek as feature film franchises regarding the most contemporary versions recently released as trilogies is this: Star Wars appeals to pirates, smugglers, pilots, & a Messiah myth thru the Force to reinforce the notion a poverty stricken individual or rebellious person who came from nothing can achieve greatness courtesy of an innate gift.

Star Trek, on the other hand, canters to scientists & military families in a space aged Air Force built on tradition, reputation, repetition, following orders in the interest of structure for the greater good i.e. 'the Borg' beehive mentality; & honoring your family name thru yrs of service for your country or StarFleet. Freelance behavior is frowned upon because this desire for independence or self recognition runs counterproductive to 'the needs of the many, the few, or the one.' Star Trek is more jargon based too as opposed to Star Wars which revolves around a supernatural energy called 'the Force' that only a chosen few possess like a magical strand of DNA. Star Trek is all about structure, heirarchy, chain of command, & no defiance vs Star Wars which perpetuates controlling your emotions & feelings by almost becoming a deity or larger than life invincible leader yourself.

You pretty sum up my worst fears of it...Was your neighbor's cat a miniature, like really small? That's what I have. All miniatures. The biggest ones are about half the size of a natural cat.

It's strange though cause it was only this one cat. i have a white one who is a miniature too and she had kittens and tended to them like any other cat (but sadly they didn't live). You mention another cat adopting the kittens as their own, and that is exactly what my white one did several months ago with a kitten that managed to survive to another cat (the mother died sadly) .

This specific cat though, it's so strange and it's been giving me headaches for months. First off, it went into heat back around March when it was still somewhat cold. It had kittens, and I'll never forget it just having them and leaving them there...she didn't clean them or nothing. It was like she had them, and moved on...I have had to force that cat to tend to them. This last litter that got killed off, I was forcing her into a box to make her feed them.

    3. teganslaw

      teganslaw

In response to your question,my neighbor's cat wasn't real small or miniature. She was over a year old, so didn't have kittens too young. I have no idea why she abandoned them; sometimes it just happens in nature,.

How is the cat's health now? You had mentioned that her body was broken after having kittens. That's quite  a large litter for such a small cat.

    4. Synthetic

      Synthetic

Hmmm, that might be a combination of issues come to think of it. This cat is less than a year old too. I didn't think a cat could go into heat at 7 months old, but it happened.

Her body suffered damage internally. She had 5 kittens and is real little, so it tore her insides up. She had difficulties with using the bathroom, which is hard to talk about without getting graphic and I don't want to gross anyone out. She lost most of her weight too, it's barely anything left to her weight-wise.

5 kittens though out of a small cat, oh yeah, it's hard to believe cause that's such a large litter.

All my cats are miniatures. Some of them are bob-tailed. The tail will be like a nub. I had some a few years ago with absolutely no tail at all.

538 is a great source for sports predictions and their data with percentages and statistics.

I give Neil Paine HUGE credit too cause he was the only person all last year who pointed out how weak Carolina was on a historical basis. His article about the Panthers being the worst team ever to reach 11-0, turned out to be totally 100% true once they got to the Super Bowl. That article was spot on and it was written before they went 15-1, it provided the sense of doubt and the fact they could truly implode, and that is something everyone else in sports media ignored last year with the Panthers.

      Quote

As for this Sunday, I am not confident this time around Denver might beat NE. I doubt NE wins big though. Just not sure......it's one of those odd places the Pats seem to be unable to function in. Pats may win something like 20-17. Unless Trevor something just decides to go wild all on the Pats and we all go WHOA MAN.

NE beats them twice last year if the special teams screw ups don't happen in the Brock game, and had the Pats kicked those two field goals instead of going for it in the AFCCG, they would have only been down 1 point and needed a field goal at the end.

I don't see NE losing to them this year. It's probably driving them crazy that they choked away two games to them that they should've won (and a potential 5th Super Bowl had they not screwed up the AFCCG).

So, so sick of the Broncos. Absolutely nothing redeeming or likable about that team whatsoever. if the Saints defense played the way they do with the dirty hits and viciousness, you would never hear the end of "bounties". In the future, people are going to look back and scratch their head over how Gary Kubiak won a Super Bowl given how bad he is as a head coach. Luckiest coach to win a Super Bowl in the past 10 years.

      Quote

They are due to win in Denver and Denver just doesn't have the same magic they had listen, it's just not having Peyton's experience but their Defense isn't playing like it was last season. It's still a Great Defense but last season it was Top 10 all-time material.

Peyton was a non-factor to them last year. He had the worst TD/INT ratio of a Super Bowl winning quarterback in NFL history last year. Trevor whatever-his-last-name-is Something would've won it all last year, hell BROCK would've too. Shame 40 year old Favre didn't have Denver's free agent built defense behind him, or he would have retired with that ring #2 he wanted so badly.

I don't think they are top 10 all time material honestly. They were a fluke lucky team that won most of their games by the skin of their teeth and never truly dominated like historic defenses do. NE beats them if they don't go for the 4th and goal plays twice. Had Denver failed to get home field advantage last year, they probably don't go that far. Everything had to go right for them last year...I'd take the 2002 Tampa Bay defense over them in a heart beat, and that's a historic defense that seems to get overlooked all the time.

      Quote

I won't be suprised if the Lions lose in NY. Giants are pretty solid at home this year.

I still maintain the Packers find their way into the playoffs, I might be wrong but well it seems almost odd if they are not there. Pack might be better as a WC though since it means they can avoid the Giants as long as possible. If the Packers manage to win the division and host the Giants in the first round then uh oh........

Pack needs to win out, and by winning out, they also need Detroit to drop just one game, and then they can tie them at 10-6 if they win out.

The problem for Green Bay is that in recent years, they've lost the road games to divisional opponents in week 17. They struggle on the road in that last week against teams in their division and those games are always close. The Packers are going to need to win in Detroit above all else.

I wont make this into a debate because I know where you stand and you know where I stand but Peyton was a very huge factor in the AFC Title Game vs the Patriots. To say he was a non-factor to why the Broncos won the SB is just completely wrong. His TD/INT ratio has nothing to do with the way he played against the Patriots when it counted most. If he doesn't play and Brock does in that game, Broncos lose and probably lose by at least 10. If anything Brock is also showing how Bad he is this season when it's his team. I could picture Brock being picked in that game and being rattled, BB would've had him rattled in a first career Title Game start. The Texans are winning inspite of him and still not winning much. Yeah they beat the Colts but even according to you the Colts are Average at best and they are actually with a Bad Defense. Peyton played a perfect 1st Half in that game and had 2 TD's early to set the tone. He had 0 INT's and 0 Fumbles in that game as well. Why you and many others don't acknowledge this is puzzling. If you think Brock Osweiler would've beat the Patriots last season then you must not think much of Brady? A Brady led team wasn't losing to a Brock led team in a Title Game situation, just not buying it. Why do you think BB went for it on 4th down instead of kicking FG's in that game? He knew Peyton was on the other side and BB respected him. I also disagree that the 2015 Broncos didn't have a Top 10 Defense of all-time. I didn't say close to best ever or Top 5, but Top 10 yes. I would take the Steel Curtain of 1978, Bears of 1985, Giants of 1986, Ravens of 2000, Bucs of 2002, Seahawks of 2013 over them but other than that I would roll with Von Miller and that Secondary they had last season over anyone else. That is only 6 Defenses I have witnessed better than the 2015 Broncos that I can think of right off hand that won the SB.

        - By the way I respect your opinion but I just disagree with you and gave you my takes on those subjects. I do think the Patriots will beat the Broncos this week and I picked the Broncos to miss the Playoffs before this season if you remember so we will see if I am right with that prediction. I still have to roll with the Packers winning the SB because that was my before season pick, do I think they will? Probably not but that is who I picked. I stuck with the Broncos last season and it paid off so we will see. Packers have to win out to just make the Playoffs but anything is possible with Rodgers.

I have a thing for the 2000 Ravens though because on defense I just thought they were scary as hell. I mean even looking back to this past season......I am not even sure we beat the 2000 Ravens like we did the 2015 Broncos.

I will not discuss the 2005 Steelers. I am still trying to forget that game vs. the Colts.

Although I think we can say maybe the Broncos best days are over for a while unless the D learns to fly and play offense too.

    4. 2006Coltsbestever

      2006Coltsbestever

Yeah the Broncos have a problem at QB no doubt. They have a Great Defense but I cant see Sanchez or Kaepernick leading them to a Repeat SB win. The 2000 Ravens perhaps had the best Defense of all-time. I would rank it higher than Denver's of last season. The 1985 Bears are in that discussion as well.

Serpico definitely sounds like a must see film with corruption in play & sadly once you are categorized as a criminal that label never is allowed to leave you by other members of society. Plus, if you are never given a chance at upward mobility through a legal means what else is a person supposed to do starve? And they don't need PG to get that edge. I'm beginning to think the PG stuff is overblown. He does not perform well against LeBron. Even though he's faced him so many times, he's got an 0-5 playoff record vs him. He may have pushed those Miami Heat teams to a 7 game series, but he didn't come out the winner. Yeah that Ravens team was really Good. I am not so sure they wouldn't of won the SB had they got by us. They would've had HFA over the Pats. McNair had already made one SB. That game was a rare case where our Defense won the game and Peyton rode the D.

Manning had a rough game here and many will point to his stats as being ugly, but he did everything to get the win. I don't think it's fair to really talk about his ugly stats here as if it's negative. Favre used to have games like this often, where the stats would be ugly but all that matters is coming off with that win.

That Ravens D was #1 across the board that season. Many were saying "it's 2000 all over again". Most would also have assumed if you held our offense to zero TDs that we lose the game.

I personally loved this game since it showed we could win in different ways finally and in a hostile environment to boot.

I remember at the end of the game Manning did have a clutch third down conversion to Clark. And we ran the ball well to run out the clock instead of trying to play hero with the pass you know.....unlike the Falcons. lmao

I liked how the Colts defense played in this game. The commentators constantly mention how bad their run defense is, and yet they focused on shutting down the run entirely.

Our run D was money that entire postseason. Most don't realize just how bad it was during the regular season, dead last and we gave up 375 rushing yards to the Jaguars in a game.

Just a really fun game in Baltimore, I remember not thinking we would ever lose the game either though while it was happening.
