  1. 11 mil guaranteed .. he will be 31... not that great in run defense. I hope he works out, but from what we got last year in FA and IMO payed way too much for avg players seems like we are over paying again avg player..

How appropriate that this was your 666 post. :)

Relax, we did not overpay last year and we have not with Jackson.

  2. Without doubt an upgrade on what we had at a reasonable price I would think. Also provides leadership and could be a good mentor to McNary and his future development.

I agree. I like the addition from a personnel standpoint. By all accounts, he is a high character guy and great teammate. I don't know enough yet about his skill set to be happy or mad about the on the field product.

  3. NFL Network

    Ok, cool.

I dont know a ton about him. Is he good?

We have a thread about him http://forums.colts.com/topic/26797-browns-release-lb-dqwell-jackson/

In it I said: "Remember, Cleveland still has a lot of cap room and they were willing to let him walk. Sounds like he is a likable, classy guy but not necessarily a force at the line. Apparently he was rated by PFF as the 7th worst ILB against the run last year. Most of his tackles came downfield and it sounds like he is better suited to a 4/3. Just what I'm reading from Cleveland fans."

  4. "...D'Qwell Jackson... his arrival ends a brief tour around the league looking for a new team after being released by the Browns. Jackson will be reunited with last year’s Browns coach Rob Chudzinski, who took a job as a special assistant to head coach Chuck Pagano. Pagano also saw a lot of Jackson over the years when he was on the Ravens staff.

Jackson should plug into the Colts lineup next to Jerrell Freeman and should be an upgrade from what the Colts got from a variety of players filling the position in 2013. The Titans, Broncos and Dolphins also met with Jackson, but will have to look elsewhere for help at linebacker." - PFT

  5. “They gave me a heads-up I would not be re-signed by them. I understand. I’ve been hurt the past two years. It’s part of the business. It’s part of the game. There comes a time when you’ve got to move on. I wish I could have played better here. I wish I hadn’t gotten hurt.” - Indy Star

  6. According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, the Broncos are going to release 12-time Pro Bowler Champ Bailey,

I just want to see what people will want me to do. My vision is to still play corner, but I’m a little more open-minded about the season I had last year.” Bailey said. “I’m a corner at heart. If a situation made sense to play safety, then I would consider it.” - Bailey

  7. I really like what Smith can bring.  Lets talk to him.  While he is 31 years old, he does well at backpeddling and covering receivers/TEs, and RBs out of the backfield.

I just read where he broke Ray Lewis's record for pass deflections.  He can rush the QB when called upon as well...nice size as well.

Ravens DO see him as a priority to retain....

I wonder what kept us from him last off-season? He only signed a 1 year deal with the Ravens.....head scratcher.
