  1. It was the small ball D that cost all the titles we should have had with the GOAT, The system sucked. Thats why I think we are on the right path and Luck will win more SB. He will never be as good as PM but he will have a better team around him.

  2. I think Brett Farve and Payton Manning were poorly served by their respective organizations. THe packers will unwilling to get the necessary wide receivers for brett to throw to and the colts kept trying to convience totting out on defense small players who routinely got pushed around.

I wonder how many super bowls Payton Manning would have won had he played for the pittsburgh steelers. during his time they had the best defense and a running game. I bet Payton would have more than Brady has.

I have been saying that for years. What they are doing now , they should have done years ago.
  3. This changes nothing about being a Colts fan. i think its a great move for both parties. I am soooo sad that Irsay did not make these kinds of moves 5 years ago when they should have. I think Luck wins more SB's for Indy just because they are dumping Pollians stupid small ball. I will always root for the Colts because Ive been doing it for 45 years. I will how ever also root for Peyton to win a SB with AZ. He is the greatest of all time.

  4. Here's my message to you fans that are depressed over all of this:

    - Keep your heads up, the future is bright with Andrew Luck and future stars Antoine Bethea, Pat Angerer, Kavell Conner and Jerraud Powers

    - Look at the magical run we've had with 18. We went to 2 SBs and won 1. He's the greatest!

    - All good things have to come to an end...kinda like the presidency of Bill Clinton

    - The Colts could easily return to it's previous high as the Bengals with a rookie QB and a very young team made it to the playoffs. With good coaching and some hard work, we could easily be like them.

    - Taking up new challenges is always fun. It's going to be fun to see how the Colts fare in the next couple of seasons with the most hyped QB in the history of college. I think he comes through just by everything I've seen.

    - A true Colts fan stays a fan through the good and the bad. You don't want to look like a cheapskate becoming a fan when the times are looking up then jump off the bandwagon when times are bad. You've stuck through a bad year, so I think you can take a bad breakup.

    - You have to expect this day would come, and just think about other teams that have gone through this. 49ers with Montana, Packers with Favre, Old Colts fans with Unitas. This is just another chapter in the history of the NFL.

This is going to be tough for all of us, but it's how we move on that defines us. Look at the good times and keep your head up.

    Cheers

Had you right up until Clinton, GOV is NEVER the answer, it lies with the individual
  5. I think all this depends on what Peyton wants. Does he want to win a SB more than finish his career in Indy? No way the Colts win a SB in the next 3 years. They are rebuilding which is what they need to do. Like some people on here , they should have made these moves 5 to 6 years ago. Some of us have been saying this team is not that good for years. I really like Pagano and we have to take Luck. He will never be as good as Peyton but if this team does what I think it is, he wont need to be. I would like to see Peyton win another SB. I will root for him and buy his jersey where ever he goes. He is the greatest of all time and a class act. I would support him no matter what he decides.

  6. Seriously I cant wait for all these PEYTON fans jump ship to where he plays. Yes he has been *** awesome for the city and our team but football is a team sport, if peyton leaves then he leaves. If he stays awesome lets try to win another superbowl for him and the city, but if we do divorce then I wish him the best of luck (no pun intended) and I hope we play him a few times and beat him. I am a colts fan not a peyton fan.

What a ridiculous statement. Why are people like you always trying to define what and who a fan is? I get it, your not able to multi task. Some of us can be loyal to both the team and certian players that only come around once in a life time. Who would sit around and wait for Peytons fans to jump ship, and why get excited over it? What do you get out of it? Does that make you feel good about yourself? You might try drinking instead.
  7. I think Peyton ends up in Arizona. Small market team, he would not be comfortable in a big-market environment. Nobody will trade for Peyton, because it makes no sense for the Colts to resign him and trade him. If this were MLB, it would be different. But the NFL ain't MLB.

I think thats a real possibility. Bring Reggie in also and beef up the O line alittle and you have a scary team. Probably need a tight end also so maybe Clark. Cant imagine how scary that offense would be with Fittzgerald. Its an indoor stadium in a weak div. Except for SF. If he wants a shot at a SB he has to leave Indy. I knew 6 years ago that our team was not in good shape with Dungy and Pollian. I do think we are going in the right direction now. Its a shame for Peyton. Im rooting for him wherever he goes. Hopefully he comes here to AZ
  8. So you are 20? I am guessing that most of your life the Colts had Manning and were contenders?

I watched my first Colts game, that I can remember, in 1971 (I was 4) and it was the Superbowl vs the Cowboys...which we won. Now by saying "we" I mean the Colts...just for clarification.

Soon after Johnny U was shown the street and the greatest QB I ever saw, Bert Jones, brought the Colts back to respectibility...only to suffer from injuries and a trade to the Rams. From 1978 to 1998, with the exception of the strike induced 1987 divisional champ and 1995 team that lost to Pitt, there was little to cheer about.

I was ecstatic when PM was drafted in '98. I was a fan of his Father and was hopeful for a chance at greatness. It came, it was great and it was frustrating, as defensively those teams rarely could hold their own against the elite.

All said, I am greatful for what has transpired and what PM has given to the team but as a man once said, " the only constant in life is change. ". It's time for that change, imvho...and I embrace it with the hopes of a more balanced team and aggressive defense.

Im a little older than you and remember the loss to the Jets. Loved Bert Jones, he was one of the best he just never had any time to throw the ball. Always wondered if he played for San Fran if we would be talking about him or Montana. he really was that good. I have been a Colts fan for a long time and there have been certain people that play a position that take it to a different level. Johnny Unitis did that and Peyton Manning did it. There have been other people on this forum like myself who have been saying that the direction this team went, under Pollian and the coaches, was wrong. I hated the Tampa 2 defense. It just dosnt work and it was sad to see them stick with this style all of Manning's career. I like the change that has been made with regard to Pagano. Needed to be done 6 years ago. Peyton deserves to be on a team that needs him to win the SB. I hope he goes where he has a chance to get more rings. I will be a fan of his and buy a jersey. I will root for that team as long as it's not against the Colts, Ive never been an Irsay fan because he's an elite left winger but what he said was true. No man is bigger than the team. Please don't retire Peyton, I want to watch the GOAT play for 3 more years. You are a class act and my family is grateful for you giving us the privilege of watching you play.
  9. We get to watch our 2nd string QB play tonight. He has an opportunity to learn from the GOAT. Im looking forward to Manning playing for the next couple of years knowing that we will be good at QB when he retires. Im sad that we didnt go in a new direction 5 years ago. I have hope now.
