    Dungy Said Polian Picking Luck Not A Guarantee

    On NFL Sunday night Tony Dungy referenced the Edge instead of Ricky Williams. He also thinks that the QB position is going through a transition and RG3 is more suited for the position.

    I wouldnt trust Dungys opinion at all. If they dont pick Luck they are fools and we will have to endure the next 10 years of a bad football team right after Manning retires. This is the best chance we have and we need to take it.

    Did you watch the game? I saw allot of reciever issues for them. Hes really a rookie, just beginning. What about Sanchez? I Dont see youtalking about his choking. I think Tebow has earned himself another year as starter and see how much he improves. Unbelievable to say what you said. Is there something about him that you hate? I have an idea of what it might be.

    For those of you who want us to lose the last game, all in the name of a player who hasn't played a snap in the NFL; all for a player who is not a member of this team you (claim to) love, nor a teammate to the guys we cheer for every week... shame on you.

    Watch this video. See the elation of the players who ARE Indianapolis Colts. Guys who have proven themselves in the NFL, and who give back to the community we are all privileged to be a part of. These are the guys that matter. Many of these are the faces we need to re-sign. These guys want to win:

    You want them to lose? You are going to cheer for them to lose to get a guy who's not as good as any of them right now? You want that joy to drain out of them so we can pick up a guy who won't play with them? A guy who won't bring them back from this losing season because many of them will be gone by the time he plays, or will be cut to make room for his contract?

    I'll admit, I understand the complaints about Coach Caldwell more than the ones cheering for a loss next weekend. The players, on the other hand, seem to think of our coach differently. While on the same video page from the link above, check out the thumbnail video titled "Caldwell postgame locker room speech."

    That's a coach with no emotion, remember. That's a guy no one has respect for. He has no understanding of the game, command of the locker room, or any of the intangibles to inspire others. He's just a puppet.

    I guess the player response in that video is more proof we need to lose on purpose, not only to concern ourselves with a non-factor QB, but also to get that guy in the circle fired.

    As an aside, I am aware that everyone who types on the internet can have an opinion. But that doesn't mean everyone should type that opinion, or receive a pass for that blanket reason. These are human beings. They aren't products or services of a business. The brand is, sure, as is the memorabilia; they, on the other hand, are men. They play to win. They care about the guys who are there now. We support these guys because they are the ones driving the franchise we cheer for. We are not players, and I get that. We shouldn't think like a player, right? If that's true, then that also means we shouldn't decide what's best for the team they play for.

    I won't call anyone a pretend fan for hoping we lose. But they know, as well as anyone with a shred of perception, that they are no better than the man they blame for pulling the players in 2009.

    You are telling us that the only opinion that meens anything is yours. You go as far as saying " Shame on us" for those that have a different opinion.You are so wrong about what is most important to the Colts. Its the FANS, not the players. This team is nothing without all the money that we put down to buy their stuff. Its nothing without the ratings that we give by watching our team. I have been a fan a heck of alot longer than anyone playingand that meens something to me. I also dont buy your premise that losing is never a good thing , In life, sometimes we have to lose in order to get ahead. Its like when the Marine decides that its better to jump on a hanggrenade than it is to let all his buddies die. He made a choice that by losing, his buddies wins I know, your going to complain about the analogy. Peyton is going to play another 2-3 years, that meens we will get low draft picks until hes gone. It makes sense to grab the best prospect coming out of college in many years. I know that you people want to gloss over that and you think it is disrespectful to the players that are playing. Well tough, we are not a competitive team without Manning and thats the reality of the situation and if that hurts their feelins, so be it. Most of us fans care about winning the SB, NOT just winning games. We want to know that we have a chance to win every year. Not just making playoffs. Is that asking too much, maybe but thats what we want. One more win meens nothing other than we lose out. This game has changed and we need this pick to keep the Colts at a level where we can compete to win the SB. You have every right to disagree but no right to put those of us down that want Luck. We love our team and DOOGAN, you are dead wrong.

    So if next week's game were at LOC instead of at Jax, you would want the fans to boo when we score points? Should every Colt fan wear a Jax jersey?

    The first pick is supposed to go to the worst team.........and if that's not us........that's the way it is

    1st pick would obviously make things easier.

    It is so ironic to me that all these division games were put at the end of the season in response to the colts resting the starters in 2009.......to give the Colts a reason to play competitive football

    And now, here we are........discussing the merits of 'playing less than our best'........to increase our odds of the other great prize............1st draft pick

    Its ok to have the " i dont care" attidude but many of us do care and want the best for our team. The other comment about the "world not ending" is true also. But our team will CHANGE because of what happens next week. In the biggest way since we got Manning. There is no denying that, so I believe we have to get Luck because I remember after Unitus we didnt have a QB untill Jones, and it was a long search untill Manning. I believe If Luck turns out to be 60% of Manning it is worth the loss.

    This "turn in your fan card" garbage needs to stop right now. The people still posting on this board are probably the best fans the colts organization has. The fair weather fans have all purchased their rodgers jerseys and are waiting for the colts to be a 13-3 team again before they start rooting for the colts again.

    Jaric has hit the nail on the head here -- while I'm not rooting for the Colts to tank (that would be an embarrassment to the entire franchise and wouldn't be worth any pick), as fans I think we have the right to root for the Colts to lose here. There is no question that the #1 pick has more tangible value than the #3 pick. Does 3-13 have more tangible value than 2-14? Probably not. heck, there's talk on the Jaguars message boards about THEM tanking to keep Luck out of the AFC South. This just goes to show that out biggest rivals know what's best for us -- and that's for us to lose and secure the #1 pick.

    I just saw what you posted and I like it. I have thought about the Jags tanking it also. We love the Colts, thats why we are here. Ive been called every kind of fan known to God but have been watching them since 1967, Lets getR done and get Luck. All Hail Peyton. Thats also my dogs name

    who every wants their team to lose needs to hand in their fan card...

    you worry about the draft at draft time not during the season

    may I add the last 16 first Rd QBs, 8 had good/decent years, the other 8 were flops....

    There hasnt been a QB coming out of college with this kind of Rep since I can remember. Everyone, and I meen everyone believes this guy is going to be great. That dosnt make it so, but the odds are in our favor. I think Jacksonville lets us win because they dont want to face Luck for 14 years. I think you do whats best for your team. This game neens nothing to Indy unless the outcome takes us out of the draft for Luck. You tell us to hand in our fan card when Luck goes somewhere else and we go the next 10 years with guys like Painter. Finding Peyton was the Gem in the pile, Lets do it again.

    You do know RGIII stats are better than Luck's own right? not to mention he rather stay in the pocket and complete passes, he has much more skills than luck thats for sure, he's just not as polished, and when i say that i mean nfl ready as luck.. but with time behind peyton he would be invaluable.

    I think Luck is the real deal. Hes not on that great of a team. He makes them good IMO

    Come on guys we have to trade Peyton, right? I mean we are 0-12 without him this season. If we release or trade him, we should be a lot better, right? Ryan Leaf Jr. at Stanford is our savior.

    On a serious note, these people who are even considering the thought of trading or releasing the greatest QB to play football to put faith in some guy in college that doesn't even play in the SEC, needs to wake up and realize the reason this organization has been a powerhouse in the NFL for the past 9 years is because of 18. It's that simple. Shouldn't the Colts organization and Colts fan give Manning the opportunity to come back next season and bring this team back to greatness? If Peyton is healthy and says he's ready to play, Polian and Irsay have to trust him and give him the chance to come back and lead this franchise back to the promise land.

    I have to laugh about your " bring this team back to greatness" quote. This team hasnt won a game without him and with him they make the playoffs and then lose. Manning is the GOAT but he cant do it all. The problem is in the front office and since that dosnt seem to ever change I dont care who is your QB, our team will not ever get to a championship caliber level. The question isnt Manning or Luck. Luck will never be as great as Manning and I dont know if Manning has enough time left to make the moves that are necessary to build a great team. If Pollian continues using the same Philosophy, It wont matter.

    Painter isnt playing(barring injury) and we have seen in the past, BB leaves his Golden boy in to let him run up the score, and accumulate as many stats as he can. Its just the way it is, we are going to get slaughterd.

    Can Polian Rebuild This Team

    I think if Polian gets out of his own way he could successful rebuild this team. He needs to get out of the philosophies and schemes business and hire a competent personnel manager and head coach with a backbone to install his own philosphies and schemes. Polian needs to work his magic and make trades, draft players to fit the new coaches philosophies and schemes, and sign free agents. I was very upset with the promotion of Caldwell to head coach because I felt it was a great opportunity to change directions and install something new.

    That is one of the best written posts Ive read. Pollian CAN see talant, he just dosnt know how to use it. That makes sense to me, Well put

    What makes me laugh is the fact that people who want to trade Manning and want Luck are assuming that Luck will be better than Manning. The problem is the front office and if that dosnt change I dont care who our QB is we will never win a SB. What makes people think that Pollian can build a team around Luck? He couldnt do it with the GOAT QB so getting Luck wont solve the problem. Manning will play as a Colt next year you can count on it. Luck will sit on the bench.
