I don't think a lot of people will leave (not that it matters if they do - it's their choice), but we may hear some groaning.
If we choose Luck, oh well. We could do worse with the first pick. We could trade so far down as to not take advantage of the top 10 pick status we will likely have, or we could reach for someone who would end up a project.
If we don't let Caldwell go, people will just ignore it if Peyton returns and we start winning again.
There's no reason to eliminate the Polians. They are still among the top 5 front office operations in football. No one would be prevailing in this situation.
I just dont think the Polians are in the top 5. Our season proves, that all we have had is Manning, and that our D scheme stinks.

With all I am reading about how everyone hates Jim Caldwell and how the Polians need to be let go and how we don't need Andrew Luck should we get the opportunity to draft him....I am just wondering how many fans will switch to another team, stop watching or whatever when..
1. Jim Caldwell is back for his 4th season next year
2. Both Polians are still in charge next year
3. And should we have the chance the Colts draft Luck

Im close to agreeing with you except for the fact that we dont have anybody in the front office or on the coaching staff that can build a good team. They have proved themselves to stink at building or coaching anything. it would pain me deeply to see Manning go.here's my post from the other dungy thread in the draft forum (where, you know, all Luck threads are supposed to go
lol )Just one more reason I'm glad Dungy isn't around anymore. He's become a joke. He jumps on and off of different team's bandwagons worse than fans do. He also predicted there was no way Manning would miss any time this year.
Contrary to what most are saying though, if the Colts are going to draft Luck then I agree that they should trade Manning, Freeney and Dallas Clark and get whatever they can from them. Let Wayne and Mathis walk and receive some sort of compensatory picks for them in 2013. The veterans may get traded to a team that wants to win now and the Colts get as many draft picks as possible to help rebuild around their young QB.
They could keep the vets around for a year for one last run together before parting ways with them, but that would be a tough sell to Wayne and Mathis imo. Though no guarantee there will be enough cap space to resign both of these guys anyway so that may wind up not being a problem.

This team has so many problems that it will be years before its turned around. It may be another 30 years in between sb the way this organization is run. You people and your bandwagon bull is over the top. Just because there are some realists out here and tell it like it is we get called names because thats all you have. Just as pathetic as this team.

Hes not that good, way better guys out there than him. Not consistant and you never know what you will get. Im not sulking but I am ticked because everything about this team I have been saying is coming out. This team probably cant win a game with the personel or the coaching that we have.

One bad year? If we end up at 0-9 which is entirely possible based on the schedule and how poorly this team has played, there isn't a coach in this league that would keep his job unless he coached the Lions, especially in this market. Last year Manning covered up again for all the injuries and this year when he hasn't been around, its been exposed how bad this team is without him. Caldwell is also under questioning for if he actually decides who plays. I realize our franchise is heavily dependent on the QB but geez we should be able to put together a couple of wins against teams we clearly are more talented than. How can you say that? As of 2008 he lead them to the top record in the AFC with Kerry Collins at QB.

I agree, this team is pathetic, this is not a profesional team we are watching. This is a joke of a team and the people responsible arnt on the field playing. Irsay should fire everybody and get new blood . Then we hope in 5 years we have a team. Manning will never get close to a SB with this team. I feel sorry for him. Im sure hes questioning retireing soon. I bet he plays 2 years and thats it, or he wants to go somewhere else. He deserves better than what Irsay has given him.

imo, no way...I'm glad Dungy is gone and don't want him back. We've been spending the last 2-3 years trying to get bigger and stronger on both sides of the ball...we're having to do that because Dungy is the one who brought in the players who were so ridiculously undersized.
Thats funny because I ws told in another post that we didnt have small players. UNBELIEVABLE

I call nonsense on this one. With Manning we'd be 4-1 right now. This team was built around his skill set. The D looks terrible b/c they are on the field 70% of the game! Did you not see the 1st half? The D played very well until the last KC drive. Manning makes adjustments on offense that Caldwell/Christensen/Painter simply cannot. Painter did his best, but he wasn't helped by Clark's drops...those would have moved the chains. I agreed the D needs to be switched up. But we lost Addai to a hammy and he's not exactly small....same with Powers, he's no midget either. Size doesn't matter w/ hamstring injuries...maybe we should take a look at our strength/conditioning program, I think the problem lies there.
I dont buy your argument especially about the size of players. Since we have played this small d we have had at best a team that makes it to the playoffs but cant win the big one. Most of our playoff apperances we lost the first game we played. We have had injuries above and beyond other teams because small guys cant last a season. Im not talking offensivly, we have NEVER been able to stop the run and we have been consitantly vulnerable in the middle of the field on 3rd downs. I dont know why Clark all of a suden cant catch a ball, that baffles me. I just dont think this d can last more than a half at the most.

Maybe I'm selfish and want Manning to have one more ring to silence the critics that he could never win the big one and that he chokes.
Will Never happen, this team does not have the personell to win a SB and they wont choose the right people anyway. They need to fire everybody and start over, period. New everything. This team isnt even close.

Exactly what I thought but Polian will do it and to top things off the guy will weigh about 100lbs and get a career ending injury in the first qtr of the first game.

No way were we contenders even with Manning. Our coaching and defense is worst in football. This is the product of the front office and the way they have put this team together around Manning. We have injuries every year because our players are TOO SMALL. Small dosnt work and niether does the defensive scheme. This team will never win a SB again with Manning or anyone else untill they go in a new direction. I feel sorry for Manning because he is the GOAT and he got stuck with this front office calling the shots on his carreer. I have and always will love the shoe but this team has seen its glory and I probably wont see that again in my lifetime. I waited over 30 years in between SB so I can say I saw them win 2. You can put this in the bank, Manning will never win another title with the Colts. There arnt enough brains running this team. Im sooooo ticked and have finaly come to the fact that this team has no chance and Ive known it for a long time. We are darn lucky we won in 06. Just pathetic is the only word that describes what I see every Sun.

Wore my Unitis jearsey all day today. Its been great because some of us Colts fans have been getting together at a bar here in Phx to watch games. Not allot of us but thats ok.When they showed Collins on the screan on opening day I yelled MVP, got quite a laugh out of that one.

They were tired because they were on the field the whole game. had we had any kind of offense they could have had more of a rest.I have no idea what you are trying to say. No matter how you look at it, giving up 400 yards of offense leaves alot of room for defensive improvement. And no matter if Foster was gassed or not, he & they did not make the plays at the end.

I hate to say it but even with Manning, this team stinks. Who do you think they can beat? We just got our butts handed to us by the Browns, how low does it get? I dont see 2 games we can win. Its not a ridiculous thread. I dont want to see us lose but the fact is, we arnt going to win and we had better start with a great draft pick to begin rebuilding this team. Its going to take Irsay having some guts and dumping Calwell and find someone with some vision. Tired of people telling other people how they should feel. We are ticked, especially those of us who have been saying we have problems for a long time now.

How manny years do we have to wait? This has been a problem for the last ten years for crying out loud. This isnt rocket science.Of course it does...I won't argue that at all. But imo the steps are being taken to improve the defense. Unfortunately we're not gonna see it happen over night. It just doesn't work that way. So far they've kept Hillis to right around 3 ypc which I think is pretty good. Antonio Johnson has gotten good penetration several times but unfortunately couldn't finish the play.
One thing we really need to do is work on getting a better and more consistent pass rush off the edge when Freeney and Mathis aren't on the field because those are the times other teams are going to try to do the majority of their passing on.
