  1. Go stick your head in the sand. It is embarrassing, seriously.

It has taken Caldwell 3 years to get the personnel around him that he wants, and his franchise player went down. He had a team with the largest IR list in history last year and still managed to get the defense to shore up its holes for 4 games and put us in the playoffs. The same players he had before, working in the same scheme, put it together against the best rushing teams in the NFL and held onto those games for us. Caldwell was a part of that, whether you like it or not. He's done more to coach us to wins while our offense was missing pieces everywhere than his questionable timeouts ever did to lose us games (no, he didn't lose us the Jets game).

While some of you have that cute ability to point out his fewer than a handful of mistakes, most of you just don't like him on principle. You expected a big name, spitting, screaming, loser of a coach who seemed like the sexy pick. You got a relative unknown, position coach getting his shot at the big time. Who cares what his record was at Wake Forest? This isn't Wake Forest, this isn't college football. Bill Belichick had a terrible record with the Cleveland Browns. I guess the Patriots should have dumped him when they had the chance.

Do you really want to bring in a new head coach now? Really? You want to spend 3 more years adjusting the schemes and personnel, all the while watching Manning, Freeney, etc., age without getting another championship as everything shifts to transition mode again? Because that's what will happen. That's what happens everywhere, except in EXTREMELY rare situations. We'd be watching a mess on Sundays while the new coach brings in his guys and changes everything all over again.

"The new coach would just let Peyton do his thing..." Great, so what does he do with our defensive personnel? Build a 3-4? Yeah, that happens overnight. Have them learn an entirely new system and philosophy? If the coach is going to let things run as they are until Peyton's done, else he wins no more championships or even gets a shot at one before retiring, then what difference does it make if it's a big name doing nothing, or Caldwell doing nothing? A screamer or a blinker?

Did we look bad week one? Sure, but so did a lot of other "good" teams. At least we didn't get beat 35-7 with all of our best players on the field. At least we didn't possess one of the deepest, and most balanced rosters in football only to get annihilated 41-7 in our home opener. We could have been responsible for letting a rookie, non-QB throw for over 400 yards against us.

The lockout has had ill effects on everyone; for some, it's worse than others. We're also down the best player to see a football field.

I will close with a dose of harsh medicine that some of us - myself included - need to hear, but will never concede to:

Most of you know nothing about coaching. You have no ability to observe, grade, or recognize it if it were blinking at you all day.

Stop pretending you know better. You don't. Al Davis knows more about running a team than you do.

Stop acting like Irsay and the Polians are just incompetent, stubborn buffoons who are letting it happen out of spite, or pride, or whatever nonsense you've come up with. We've been one of the best and most consistently exceptional organizations for more than 10 years now, and it's not JUST because of Peyton Manning.

This isn't homerism, or a glass-half-full rhetoric. Opinions, emotions, thoughts... wonderful, though sometimes self-betraying traits. That's what the forums are for, right? Some of you just need to stop talking like you know how to fix things. Don't make it sound like you're smart, and they are dumb. If it's an opinion, state it as such. The rest is garbage.

Why dont you go stick your head? Colts made no adjustments at halftime while Clevland did. Coaching staff stinks, your embarasing to me

  2. Good point on the nepotism comment, I'm sure some people on this forum that know nothing about business MIGHT criticize you. Being a business student myself we see it's not a good thing. For instance, my best friend started up a major business with some very good friends of his, but under no circumstances do they deny privileges to other based on hiring friends or family members. It would basically be a human resources violation to an extent. It happens all the time in the business world and turns out being bad for the most part, (it CAN ruin great client relations).

That being said, I personally have no knowledge of how the Polians run their business, but if they release people and deny opportunity for others based on the fact that they would rather hire family members or friends (even if they are much less experienced) that's bad business. In today's business world it's not a great thing.

I own a small business and can tell you that I only hire qualified people. I have a resposibility to keep business running good so that employees have jobs and I can give them Ins. I have helped people before but am very carefull about it. Bottem line is I expect good results. The Polians really havnt done that great of a job. Getting Mannining was the best thing they have done. He has made this team and now we are seeing the reprocusions of the FO mistakes. This week will tell everything, if we cant be competitive against Clevland , then, we need to look to the future and start all over. IMO

  3. While I heartily agree that the Colts FO has made some bad draft picks in recent years that have cost us, I think fans are forgetting that this current deficit in talent is largely because we've been so good for so long. We've been in the bottom of the draft for a decade, people! That will eventually take a huge toll, as it is now. This idea that the FO is to blame for not putting enough talent around Manning assumes that they've had a lot of good choices to begin with. And while I'm a huge Manning fan. his performance in the playoffs seems to always slip for inexplicable reasons. The idea that we should have gotten Manning a few more rings by now but haven't because there's not enough talent around him stumps me. Can you explain to me why it's the FO's fault that he didn't play well in several playoff games? I'm NOT saying he isn't a phenomenal QB, but just that maybe we have unreasonable expectations from the Colts FO and coaching staff. What do you think?

When you get into the playoffs you are supposed to step it up a notch. How many dropped balls did we have and what about our O line. Mannining needs time. I think the front office should take all the blame including coachs. Our D scheme has stunk and rarly worked. Those are things that could have been changed. Imagine what Pitt would do with a guy like Mannining.

  4. As well it is my understanding that small children will be subject to this.

The terrorists haven't blown up any buildings in ten years, but they did blow up our peace of mind and our freedoms.

Another reason to watch at home I guess. Whats next, cavity searches? Rectal probes? Perhaps a full genital massage? I don't mean to be crude but....once on this slippery slope we have to imagine how far things like this go. I would prefer to forgo the searches and take my chances of the one in a billion odds that a crazy person has strapped a bomb in their kids under pants.

We are going too far with this and the trained rats succumb to the government and media induced fear. Terror level red lol stick it in your ear you scared little sheep.

I would kick their * if they touched my little girl, Gov gone wild

  5. I love the Colts and they will always be my team. They are done for a long time. The front office does not have the ability to put a great team out on the field. They were lucky to get the GOAT qb that sold seats and even got a SB. They have never been sharp enough to put an all around team together. The D has stunk for all of Manninings carrer and everyone knows it. Dungy was a great guy but never motivated players to go beyond themselves and jump up a notch when they needed to. IMO, its back to the 80's and it will be a long time before we are a ligitamate contender. Even with Manning we are not in the running for a SB at this point. I know that I will be called all sorts of things for posting this but I DONT CARE. This team needs a whole new look and new personel all the way around. Front office and coachs should be the first ones to go.

  6. zzz...

Did we go from "Bad Thread Week" to "I is more of a fan than you cuz I R teh uber awesome" week?

Golly gee, I wish I could be as cool as some around here... Too bad my head doesn't fit that far up my own rear to ever achieve it... Maybe some day.

Try turning your head sideways, let me know how it works out. lol
  7. No it's not after just one game. Many on here have pointed out for years what was happening to this team. Alot of people didn't think Caldwell was qualified to be a head coach :hello: .

Alot of people didn't like the fact that our special teams have been nonexistent for years. Alot of people didn't like the fact that we have dared teams to run at our d because Manning could catch up.Alot of people didn't like how the FO has rested upon Manning to carry this team. All these things that people predicted would happen is happening.

I don't think anyone that is complaining now about what they have complained about for years, is a fair weather fan. I've said it before and i'll say it again, anyone who says they are a Colt's fan first and a Manning fan second, haven't been paying attention. Bet they are now!!!! :beg:

Very well said. You can count me as one of those people who have had major problems with the way this team has been built and run. Believe me, Ive been called it all.

  8. Since apparently it needs to be said: I am a Colts fan. There. Ok, this is not a good team. We have never really been a great team. The combination of athletic receivers and a quarterback that intimidated almost every defense is the reason for our success. The Texans took their foot off the pedal in the second half cause they were up by 34. They could have dropped 60 on us. I love the Colts but people have to stop pretending we are something we are not. People are saying we rushed well...64 people. That's not good. At all. And don't give me this thing about ypc average. That may make sense with Peyton Manning but Kerry Collins is not Peyton Manning. Kerry Collins is sub-par at best. We're going to lose a bunch of games this year. Like a lot. So, just breathe. And enjoy football.

    Good post

  9. As fans we have been spoiled for the last decade... Theres no need to freak out, it wasnt an earthquake it was just all the bandwagon fans falling off!

The d played fairly well for as many times as our offense turned the ball over on downs or fumbles. And we created turnovers!

The offense showed signs of finding a rythm late in the 3rd and into the 4th, give these guys sometime all is not lost!

There you go again with the " Bandwagon Fan " calling again. People have a right to criticize their team. This team is in a shambles and was not built properly after they drafting of Manning IMO. One guy should not make this kind of difference on a team. We are seeing the product of the way the front office has been doing things for years. Manning has been carrying this team for a long time. I have been very critical of our D scheme and our coaching for years now and all I do is get called a band wagon fan by people who want to sit around a camp fire and sing Cume by ya. Unbelievable.

  10. Don't you know your not a TRUE colt fan if you criticize them? How dare you give a honest opinion.

I know, its amazing these people. I dont see how you can not see that we are in trouble and it dosnt matter if you disagree, tell me what you see that I dont, all they do is call names because they have nothing. Its actually funny

  11. I guess you never watched the 41-0 spanking the Jets gave us in the playoffs? Perhaps for your 40 years of watching the Colts, you're either getting senile OR have a bad memory. Take your pick.

Do you mind if I push you off the bandwagon?

I saw the game, but Colts looked worse IMO today. Sticks and stones buddy. You have nothing to contribute to any discusion. That jets game was not good, but Colts were in the middle of building at that time. This team has been built and lost 1 player and it tells you what kind of a job the front office has really done. Do I need to make letters bigger for you?

  12. The Colts will be just fine this season. Game 1 is what it was but they got into a semi good offense and defense the 2nd half. I know there are a lot of haters out there saying Caldwell can't coach and all this but the truth is that he is a decent coach.

Absolutly disagree with you. You use the hate word which does not aply here at all. Just because I think Caldwell stinks, that dosnt meen I HATE him. I cant help it if you cant handle the critisism. If you think the Colts will be fine then you go with that. I think they are in real trouble and thats my opinion.
  13. Did we stink last year after getting whipped just as bad? With that 1 guy there?

I'm not saying that we're a great or even good team. I'm just saying that you should reserve judgement for a few weeks.

(I don't know how long you've been a Colts fan, but I've seen MANY worse games than that. Just sayin)

Been a Colts fan since 1967 and have never seen such a poor performance by a Colts team. I dont care about the score because it was allot worse than the score. We lost in the first round of the playoffs because we did not have a defense that can stop the opposing team. You cant tell me that our D has been good over the last 12 years. Like I said, its only worked over 1 important 4 game run. Anybody with PM is going to the playoffs, but it takes more to go and win a SB than what we have had. The front office has let all of us down IMO. While it has been nice winning in the reg season we have a terible record over the last 10 years in the playoffs. 1 SB is not acceptible to me with the GOAT QB. I watched the game today with other Colts fans here in AZ and we are going to meet every sun to watch as much as we can take of the game,. I am hoping that Collins can do better, but this D cant stay on the field as long as they did today and be competitive. IMO, the Colts have very little chance of winning more than 3 games, if that at this point. I dont have confidiance in Caldwells ability do make things work. That is the biggest reason Im not giving us much of a chance. He went for a field goal instead of a first down when we were getting slaughtered. Stupid, he wasnt even trying to win.

  14. Or how about Pittsburgh? At least WE have a reason we lost.

To the originator of this post:

Yeah, It IS a good day for die-hard Colt fans. FOOTBALL IS BACK!

I can't believe anyone thought we had a chance in this one. Houston has been planning for this one since the schedule came out, and before.

We have a New OL, new QB with a week of practice. What did anyone expect? Its gonna take time.

Your no better of a fan than anyone else, Colts stink, Caldwell stinks, thats the reality of it. You can rationalize it all you want in your head but, that was the WORST Colts game Ive seen. No team should look like that with 1 guy gone. Tells me this team stinks. We dont have the coach to turn this team around, or the players.
  15. All of you guys are right. 1. Caldwell is a wonderfull coach. That inspirational speech at the beginning and at half time must have been something special. 2. Polian has been a genius since Manning came along.Probably could have had the same success with any interchangeable QB. Moore and mudd wanted to retire, only to go to other teams. They must have still wanted to coach. Mr. Polian. Walk ons, undrafted free agents and small atheletes play soccer or work at wal-mart. If manning was healthy today, we would still loose today because the texans have a better team.

I agree, ive been saying it for a long time about the coaching and the D scheme we have had. They are not right for the NFL. You cant play small ball and you cant build team around 1 guy. That was the worst game I have seen the Colts play in over 40 years that I can remember. Irsay and Polian just dont get it. They had the greatest of all time (GOAT) qb and only won 1 SB and honestly we were very lucky that our D worked for the 4 games it needed to, the only 4 playoff games it has ever worked. We are now the laughing stock of the NFL, we are a penciled in win for every team we face. All because we build a team around 1 guy and cant see the whole picture.

  16. Ok, the new report Manning might be out 4 weeks, now the year and you all are ready to give up. Now the talk "lets get the best pick in next years draft or Andrew Luck". All we now Luck could be the next Ryan Leaf, a total flop. This talk is terrible if you ask me. Brady goes down in 08 and his team rallies behind Cassel to go 11 and 5.

Why not ralley behind your Colts and lets do the best we can in the 2011 season and see what happens before we cry to the high heavens. Geez there is still talent on the team and Collins is not the worst QB in the league. The Colts are going to win games, maybe not 12, 14 but 8,9 and maybe 10 are not out of the question.

Lets get a little louder at home games, lets try to prepare a little more and most important never give up.

Your title says it all. Who are you to say who deserves to be a fan or not? Pretty dumb thing to say since you asked me.

  17. The colts are not gonna lose to the texans, idc if peyton is not playing the texans have always had a hard time with the colts. They know us we know them.. when it all comes down to it its who has the better team and player by player the colts have the better team and i bet they are starving to prove that this season.

The Texans are a better team than you are giving them credit for. Our D has to play perfect in order to stop their offense. Because i dont like our D scheme I think we are in for trouble. I think Collins will do ok and especially with the starters in there. I just dont see us winning this one no matter how much I love the Colts. I would be happy if Im wrong and if I am , then, we have one heck of a team that could win the whole thing once Manning gets back.

  18. Just to make them worry a little more they should upgrade him as Questionable on Wednesday or on Thursday. That way the entire pre-game for the Thursday night game everyone is talking Manning. The Texans are going to get all sorts of different information.

    That would be genius.

on Sunday he should trot on the field in his full uniform and stretch. Then right before the game list him as out.

That would mean our coach is smart. I dont think Caldwell thinks that far ahead.
