An example as to why stats and rankings could be flawed, and the eye test could be superior.

If true, that Henry is not on the field a lot during pass plays, then I would take it that the coaches think he is not good at pass pro, (superior to both the media and other players opinions).  I would take their word over a data compilation service like PFF who might only have a small sample size for which Henry excelled...you know, did well as pass pro when the defense didn't expect a pass play with Henry on the field.

Or, he could be off the field during pass plays because the coaches don't think he can catch, and not because of pass pro.

The dynamic with Henry is sort of the same as with JT regarding pass pro.  I would throw them into the same bucket as being untrustworthy pass protectors based upon how the coaches are choosing to use them.

And, if they have catching issues...not saying they do...it would appear that the coaches do not value JTs and Henry's contribution to the passing game as maybe some other RBs.

Has JT been traded for two 5th rounders yet?  LOL.

People don’t understand what makes a good pass protector for a RB.  It’s not size and strength it’s lateral quickness.  You look at ras scored on agilities and both JT and DH are very very low, so there is no way either dude is ever going to be great in pass pro.  It’s just s physical impossibility.

    no trade yet DD.

I remember it was a huge debate this past spring on accuracy. I’m of the camp that it can be improved with the right teaching and repetitions. To me, he is so young and that’s not a detriment but actually a positive. He’s coachable and willing to take advice and criticism.

I somewhat see what you’re saying a little but man it would be nice if his throwing technique wasn’t so godawful.  It’s hard to overcome all those bad habits over all these years.  He could do it.

I didn’t follow Allen.  IDK if he was an inaccurate thrower or his comp% was low for a variety of other reasons.  Do you know or does anyone?

ARs combine revealed his inaccuracy even when throwing on air.  His deep ball ability is pretty astounding but that doesn’t thrill me.  Hopefully he will clean up that awful tech.

you said you coached.  The tech is pretty obviously bad.

i coached wrestling for years but the tech I learned and taught in the 80s thru 2010ish got largely surpassed so when my own son expressed interest I took him to the academy to have them teach him right from the get go.  I didn’t show him much of my stuff .  Bad habits in tech are hard to correct and ar has a lot of them.

so I’m hopeful for AR he has obvious physical tools but I’m not overly impressed with the kid yet.  He’s got a long way to go.

You have ragged on Irsay and Ballard for as long as i remember reading your comments about them. I'm not sure you are a fan of the Colts or not?

I really think you love to find things to whine about no matter what goes on.  I

    Moose is high on AR.

CC, I know I’m a Colts fan but man we’ve done some dumb stuff and haven’t had much success going on close to a decade now.

I actually joined this board about a week before Luck retired and was totally excited and positive.  Since then, we’ve had a rough time if it and these last couple of seasons have been disastrous and our org just looks terrible.

I really don’t understand what people are looking at if they don’t see that.

I wish people would just talk ball and lose the personal attacks.

I don’t initiate attacks but I also don’t back down from them.

in short there is a lot to whine about lol.

So now you move goal posts again.   I guess NFL players aren't football guys.

PFF also says Derrick Henry is 7th in pass protection.   You know,  the guy you said wasn't good at pass pro.

You asked about all pro.  Media guys vote for all pro BB.  Guys who studies Shakespeare and ed Murrow lol.

    How did pff grade JT?

Richardson continues to impress me with his maturity especially after a day like today where tempers were flaring. He seems very level headed and patient. I’m telling you guys he really has the disposition to be something special as long as he keeps working hard.

He seems very level headed and poised.

we have to hope he makes good reads and improves his striking inaccuracy.

I don’t love him, but his seeming lack of panic is evident on college tape.

he wasn’t impressive with his downfield decision making though and is as inaccurate as it gets.

They’re hoping he follows The path of Allen.

I think this is a sign Ballard is changing his approach. He is right we only won 4 games last year and everything needs evaluated.  It doesn’t help Taylor is a RB too. Ballard hinted at all of this in his presser before training camp started. Taylor should not of taken everything so personal.

I’m not sure if Taylor is taking things personal.  He may and I would understand if he did.

But I think he is just trying to force more money and/or a trade.  This team has very little going for it right now and RBs earning windows tend to be very short.

I think the premises of his logic are flawed, but we shouldn’t ignore that he hired Shaqs agent who got Shaq a grossly overpriced deal.

We started 1-5 in 2018 and this place was imploding with some of the most embarrassing posts. We finished 10-6 that season and won a playoff game. Many people don't have patience, that is a bad trait to have. Being a baseball fan has taught me a ton about having patience. When the Cubs were 42-48, I wasn’t even worried. Now they are 65-59 and would make the playoffs if the season ended today.

This season is not even about wins/losses anyway. If we win that will be gravy. I just want to see if AR looks like a legit future QB.

Go Cubbies.  Been a fun watch for a last month or so.

    True Dat,

In fact, virtually nobody on this board is addressing the Taylor situation by talking about Ballard's position.  Its Irsay.  Irsay has once again put himself in the position as representing the Colts when it comes to personnel decisions.

CB pretty much seems like a manakin at this point at least in this deal.

Who knows what's going on in Good Time Jimmy's org right now though.

Why does it seem like every clip I see of Kenny Moore he is getting cooked?

    Don't like it.

Joint practices, went from being the new thing to do, to teams probably going to stop doing them in a 2 week period.

Definitely not surprised to see Eagles have a good day, most reporting was one sided so, I will take that into mind.

He hasn't been very good for some time now.  He's also a better slot corner in C2 like Flus ran.  He didn't have as much responsibility over the top with 2 deep safeties and was able to play closer to the LOS and use his physicality to beat on little slot guys.

In C3 his lack of athleticism is exposed.

Wrong system for his skill set.

If we get off to a bad start, should we start trading veterans with value?

Please discuss below for extra credit.

We have nothing of value except maybe Pitt for 3rd or so.  Maybe Buckner for a 2nd or 3rd at his number.

I know people are going to be sad/mad but this is reality IMO.  We can't just tear apart the oline with a rookie QB, but even if we were going to do that, we have negative assets across the board.  The salary don't match the production.

we are a hot mess as an organization.

The good thing is that if we are terrible, then we can make a quick decision on AR.   If they don't see enough from him, they can draft another guy.

I have yet to observe his intellectual, or physical commitment to being a good blocker. I want the moon, but a 3rd and a 5th would sate me.

It's neither one of those things.  JT doesn't have great lateral quickness.  That is the key to pass pro for an RB.  It doesn't matter how much he works on it, it's always going to be deficiency.  Henry isn't very good at it for the same reason.  Lack of lateral quickness.
