Totally forgot this game was happening today. How did David Blough look? I don't expect him to get drafted, but he had a heck of a year.

Blough looked very good. He exceeded my exceptions. Probably a late round draft prospect or UDFA, but I think he is going to get a shot in an NFL camp. I could see him making a practice squad.

Mostly known as the mid to late round draft pick bowl, but there are always gems in this game. I've read through most of the practice notes from this week and have my eye on some players from both sides. According to some reports, the OL group today is super weak and the DL group should be wreaking havoc and making money today.  One of my favorite WRs in this class, LaMarkus Dodge will be showcasing his skills as well. I'll try and relay some of the things I see today.

    Who is LaMarkus Dodge?

Do you mean DaMarkus Lodge, WR, Ole Miss?

  5. Below are the Shrine players I will be looking closely at:

    Terry Godwin, WR, Georgia
    Daniel Wise, INT-DL, Kansas
    Olisaemeka Udoh, OT, Elon
    Andrew Beck, TE, Texas
    Daylon Mack, INT-DL, Texas A&M
    Devine Ozigbo, RB, Nebraska
    Blace Brown, CB, Troy
    Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State
    DaMarkus Lodge, WR, Ole Miss
    Delvon Randall, S, Temple
    Donnie Lewis Jr., CB, Tulane
    Jordan Brailford, EDGE, Oklahoma State
    KeeSean Johnson, WR, Fresno State
    Paul Adams, OT, Missouri
    Andrew Wingard, S, Wyoming
    Armon Watts, INT-DL, Arkansas
    Bunchy Stallings, INT-OL, Kentucky
    Chris Slayton, INT-DL, Syracuse
    D'Cota Dixon, S, Wisconsin
    Joe Dineen Jr., LB, Kansas
    Jonathan Duhart, WR, Old Dominion
    Jordan Ellis, RB, Virginia
    Jordan Ta'amu, QB, Ole Miss
    Justin Hollins, LB, Oregon
    Kevin Wilkins, INT-DL, Rutgers
    Khalil Hodge, LB, Buffalo
    Lamont Gaillard, INT-OL, Georgia
    Lukas Denis, S, Boston College
    Malik Carney, EDGE, North Carolina
    Mathieu Betts, EDGE, Laval (Canada)
    Matt Gay, K, Utah
    Matt Sokol, TE, Michigan State
    Michael Jackson, CB, Miami
    Montre Hartage, CB, Northwestern
Ryan Pope, OT, San Diego State
    Tre Watson, LB, Maryland
    Trey Pipkins, OT, Sioux Falls
    Tyree St. Louis, OT, Miami

Thanks for sharing your big board. It's always fun and interesting to see how someone else sees prospects!

So you don't think very highly of Murray as a prospect due to his size I take it? 5th round grade is very interesting.

Like I said, I expect him to move up on my board.... Just not as high as the board of the team that drafts him. He will probably get drafted in the first round. I don't think he will be that high on my board. Will he go high in my mocks? Probably... But that's not indicative of what kind of player that I think he will be. It's more of how I think a particular team might view him.

He will probably settle in on my final board as a second or third round pick.

This is all still early in the process and up until the past week, we did not even know he would decide to play football. I am still not convinced that he will choose football. He might be using this as a negotiating tactic to get more money from baseball.

Do you think Tyre Brady from Marshall will get drafted?

There is an outside chance. I currently have him ranked somewhere between a 7th rounder to a UDFA. The process is still early though.

The good news is; he is heading to the Senior Bowl, so he will have a great opportunity to impress everyone. A lot of players have moved way up the draft boards at the Senior Bowl.

I just think you have Hakeem Butler a tad too low, IMO. He is a Top 40 prospect, IMO.  I have a hard time thinking he will go past the middle of the second round. His body control is amazing, every time I watch him. He seems to play faster than he is and covers a lot of ground with those long strides, it feels like.

Note to self. Watch more tape on Hakeem Butler. I’ll take a longer look and get back to you.

Mullen would be a great fit for this team .....But..... I see a late second round guy

If he somehow is there in round three..... you pick the guy

I would also say that my heart is set on a UT and a DE that both can pass rush with the first two picks (Of course, I will probably be wrong  :) )

I strongly believe that Ballard is going to go offensive line and front seven, early and often in just about every draft.

    RD1: Devin White ILB LSU

    RD2: David Edwards OT Wisconsin

    RD2: Taylor Rapp S UW

RD3: C.J. Conrad TE Kentucky (TRADE: Brissett for RD 3 Pick)

    RD3: Demarcus Christmas DT FSU

    RD4: Joe Gaziano DT Northwestern

RD4: Hunter Renfrow WR Clemson (COMP PiCK)

Devin White is the Roquan Smith in this years draft. The off ball linebackers who were taken high last year showed up in a Big way this year so I don't see the off ball linebacker value dropping any time soon. With more teams moving to spread (Air Raid) offenses and mobile quarterbacks, it is more important than ever to have fast linebackers on the field for all 3 downs. I see White going in the top 10.

I love your Hunter Renfrow pick. He has that Wes Welker vibe about him. I have Hunter ranked 119 right now, but he could move up, or be a steal for a team needing a slot receiver.

David Edwards is a monster. I could see him going in the first round and I could also see a team taking him in the second and getting an absolute steal.

Thanks for this. The guy I really like is Johnathan Abram. He seems like a perfect replacement for Geathers if he is not brought back. Fast, hard hitter, and fits this defense.

    My pleasure.

Yeah. Abram is a hard hitter. He also has good coverage skills for a strong safety. Granted he does have feet for hands, but in deep coverage he gets in good position and deflects the ball well. He is one of the better safety prospects in this draft.

Thanks for doing this. Love the first two picks. No UT after that, though, with all of that talent sitting there in the first two rounds. The Colts need another one IMO, so perhaps with their other 2nd rounder(or the one they get for trading Brissett ). Hopefully they get a S in FA as well, because otherwise that position is thin, and round 7 isn't likely to bear much fruit.

I think we are going to see a run on DT's in the top 25. I felt that way since the draft ended last year so I wouldn't be surprised if a big dog falls to us. I think it's possible that Christian Wilkins could be there. I just have a gut feeling about it. Long way to go though. :)

Great post! Already looking forward to FA and the draft. What is it about Tranquill that makes him project well into the Colts system in your eyes?

    Thank you.

There are a few things that I really like about Tranquill. First of all, he is a 5th year college player so he brings maturity into the rookie class. I think the rest of the draft class will follow him as a leader. Second, he is a solid 6'1" 235 and did a great job making stops. He had 25.5 tackles for loss in his Notre Dame career (19.5 over the last 2 years), and that is impressive for an off ball linebacker. Third, he is a converted safety and is good in pass coverage. Especially zone, which is what he would play for us.

He does have his deficiencies as well, which is why he probably won't come off the board until early on Day 3.

All that said, he could blow everyone away during the draft season, and go higher.

I have zero idea about Zach Allen, but isnt BC primarily a 3-4 defense?

Zach Allen is 6'4" 284 and we can play him outside or inside on the line. He won't be asked to drop into coverage. Pairing him with Autry on passing downs could cause some havoc on the quarterback. We can move him outside on first down.

Allen has some very nice pass rushing moves.
