I love the Christian Wilkins pick, but in my opinion the rest of the picks are reaches.

We need to come out with a better WR than Rentfrow in the top 3 rounds.

I’d like to see your board. It’s amazing that you would call any of these picks reaches. I actually expected for most people to say that these players wouldn’t be there.

While this is all opinion based, it would be nice to see your board, to back your opinion up.

I think it is absolutely out of the question for him to go in the 2nd round. Probably 3rd round as well. This isn't Cooper Kupp or Keke Coutee we are talking about.

No team is drafting a small slot WR type with his mediocre college production that early....especially in this draft class.

Renfrow had two good games against Bama back when he was a freshman and sophomore. That's basically it. I think NFL scouts are going to ask to why his game (and production) never took another step as he got to his junior and college seasons.

Guys with similar comps like Braxton Berrios and Austin Proehl were 6th and 7th round picks last year...and that was in a weaker draft class at WR. And don't forget that Berrios was getting much of the same praise from Senior Bowl practices this time last year.

Renfrow will likely get drafted...but it is going to be a flyer type pick.

I will save the link to your post and remember to reply to it after the draft.

I can see Isabella being taken in the 2nd round. However, I'd be pretty surprised if Renfrow came off the board before the 4th round. I think Renfrow is more Griff Whalen than Julian Edelman. I'm a Renfrow fan and hope for the best for him but I'm betting against him being a high pick in the draft. If he comes out and runs a 4.3 maybe I'll change my tune a bit but his frame is my biggest concern. Sure, Isabella is only ten pounds heavier but his frame is rock solid and he can fly.

You guys do realize that our 3rd round pick is almost a 4th this year, right? :D

We are not picking in the top of the draft anymore.

The 3rd is too high for Renfrow...

Our 4th round picks are approximately 128 and 135.

You think Hunter Renfrow will still be there at 128? Wanna bet? :D

Hell, at this point I think Isabella is going in the second round, and might be long gone by the time we pick at 89. That's why he is not in my mock.

Anything can happen, but I do not believe in absolute predictions with the NFL draft. For us draft geeks, it is an exercise of understanding future NFL players. A prospect currently ranked on the Colts board at 500 could be drafted by another team at 35 overall. There are 32 different boards that matter and it only takes one team to fall in love with a player.

A 3rd is NOT too high for Renfrow. Hell, it is not even out of the question for him to go in the second round.

  5. The Colts officially have 8 picks in the 2019 NFL draft. However, according to OverTheCap the Colts are projected to receive a 4th round compensatory pick for losing Donte Moncrief in 2018.

I think the Colts needs are EDGE, WR, CB, S, INT-DL, OL, and LB.

While the draft overall selections are not set in stone, if OverTheCap is correct on the comp picks then the Colts draft order should be relatively close to the following...

*Note - Remember that we also have to take out the Giants (3rd) and Washington (6th) forfeited picks they used in the 2018 supplemental draft.

    1. 26
    2. 34
    2. 58
    3. 89
    4. 128
    4. 135
    5. 165
    6. 200
    7. 242

Chris Ballard has not minced his words. He told us long ago that building a team is all about the offensive line and the front seven. I believe he will  fortify the trenches early and often in every draft. This draft is front-loaded with EDGE and INT-DL prospects and value at those positions will certainly be there at #26.

With the Draft Bowl standouts freshly on our minds, I could envision the draft playing out something like this:

BlueShoe's 2019 Post Senior Bowl Colts Mock Draft

    1. 26 - Christian Wilkins, INT-DL, Clemson
    2. 34 - Nasir Adderley, S, Delaware
    2. 58 - Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Temple
    3. 89 - Hunter Renfrow, WR, Clemson
    4. 128 - Jordan Brailford, EDGE, Oklahoma State
    4. 135 - Lonnie Johnson, CB, Kentucky
    5. 165 - Terrill Hanks, LB, New Mexico State
    6. 200 - Chuma Edoga, OT, USC
    7. 242 - Justin Hollins, LB, Oregon

  7. Andy Isabella, WR, UMass

Elite quickness. Needs to remove a few steps from his route, because he sometimes jukes defenders back into good position. There is something special about him. My internal sleeper alert is pinging as loud as possible. He is my favorite player from the Senior Bowl. When I get this feeling about a player, I am almost never wrong.

    Deebo Samuel, WR, South Carolina

He even made the good defensive backs look silly this week.

    Nasir Adderley, S, Delaware

Small school kid with elite pedigree and great character. He is a converted corner which shows in his coverage skills.

    Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

When there is not a lot of great quarterback talent around a good quarterback then he shines. That is exactly what Lock did this week. I think Lock is going in the first round. He could go top 15.... Maybe even top 10.

    Hunter Renfrow, WR, Clemson

At Clemson they have a saying... Third and Renfrow. Remember how Cris Carter used to only catch touchdowns? Well Hunter catches 3rd down conversions like no one else in this draft class. He is a stud and he is going to fall in this draft class because he doesn't have super athletic ability and he is only 5'10 and 180 pounds. I'd take him in the 3rd round and be very happy about it.

    Penny Hart, WR, Georgia State

Fluid... Smooth... Small school kid who was a last minute add to the Senior Bowl, and man did he make the most of it! I want to see more, but this kid runs routes as smooth as I've seen from a draft prospect in a long while... I probably haven't seen any prospect run routes this smooth since Reggie Wayne was a prospect. I know that is high praise, but watch this kid run some routes and you will see what I am talking about.

    Terry McLaurin, WR, Ohio State

He kept showing up and sticking out to me. He might not have the top end speed, but he has elite quickness which allows him to release off the line well.

    Dalton Risner, OT, Kansas State

People were calling for Risner to be moved inside.... Those people were wrong! Risner is a right tackle! Let me rephrase that, Risner is a BOSS right tackle.

    Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Temple

He kept showing up all week long. He get's a little grabby and that will need to be coached out of him at the next level, but there is a ton to work with here.

    Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State

I think he is a 4-3 defensive end. I don't think he is an elite pass rusher, but I believe he is a hell of a run defender.

    Charles Omenihu, DL, Texas

He reminds me a lot of Denico Autry. The future of NFL 3-techniques seem to be this 6'5"-6'6" and 270-280'ish mold.

    Chuma Edoga, OT, USC

In a draft that's not littered with offensive tackles, Edogo stood out at the Senior Bowl. He is another player who was rumored to be moved inside at the next level, but he showed his worth outside this week.

    Lonnie Johnson, CB, Kentucky

He lit Terry McLaurin up in the game yesterday. I love his intensity and he stood out this week.

    Tyree Jackson, QB, Buffalo

Huge frame with a cannon of an arm. He is working with Jordan Palmer and the results are already showing. This is a sleeper to keep an eye on. Someone is probably going to take this kid on Day 3 and be real happy they did. The only thing I worry about is the track record with 6'7" quarterbacks. Quarterbacks need to make compact throws, and there is not much compact about his long frame.

    Honorable mentions:

    Garrett Bradbury, INT-OL, NC State
    Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State
    Elgton Jenkins, INT-OL, Mississippi State
    Chris Lindstrom, INT-OL, Boston College

    Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame

    Other notable players:

    Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
Terrill Hanks, LB, New Mexico State
    Donald Parham, TE, Stetson
    Khalen Saunders, INT-DL, Western Illinois
    Keelan Doss, WR, UC Davis
David Sills V, WR, West Virginia
Bruce Anderson, RB, North Dakota State
    Ryan Finley, QB, NC State
    Ryquell Armstead, RB, Temple
    Daniel Jones, QB, Duke
    Cameron Smith, LB, USC
    Dax Raymond, TE, Utah State
    Foster Moreau, TE, LSU
    Isaiah Buggs, EDGE, Alabama
    Renell Wren, INT-DL, Arizona State
    Michael Deiter, OT, Wisconsin
    Nate Davis, INT-OL, Charlotte
    Ben Powers, INT-OL, Oklahoma
    Beau Benzschawel, INT-OL, Wisconsin

I’m taking the defensive lineman performances with a grain of salt. From what I’m hearing and seeing, it looks like the OL play is pretty bad this year. I was watching the Voch Lombardi breakdowns and he mentioned that most of them struggled with getting their hands on the inside of the defenders. Plus there was just a lot of bad technique. Guys lunging, crossing feet up, wide bases, bad footwork, etc... This is a poor OL class.

I think this is a decent class of interior offensive linemen, and there are some good right tackles. That said, I don’t think it’s a deep left tackle class.

On Day 2, I’d like to see us get an interior offensive lineman who can play both guard and center for depth. I think the value will be there.

It’s a shame we didn’t keep Austin Blythe.  Not sure what we were thinking when we let him go. It felt wrong when it happened. Now he is one of the best interior lineman in the league and is heading to a Super Bowl.

Nevertheless, we will always have to spend early picks on the offensive line.

I like Voch, and think that overall his work is enjoyable, but he gets tunnel vision and quite often misses on the bigger picture.

One of the most underappreciated guys on our defense is Mathias Farley. If he was healthy this year, we would have had very solid Safety depth and I think would have improved the overall play of our defense. He's not a pro bowler or a game changer, but he's one of those dependable guys that will at the very least execute consistently and make a good play every now and then.

    Excellent point.

He was nicked up all year and still managed to play 14 games.  If I’m not mistaken, that was more than any other safety on the team.

It’s a tough position to stay 100% all season.

Especially in this scheme. It was very hard to keep healthy safeties when Dungy was here too. We were often forced to play corners at safety. Remember Donald Strickland? I think playing him at safety so much ruined what would have been a stellar career at corner.

  11. Players the stood out to me:

Wes Hills, RB, Slippery Rock - By far the player of the game.

John Santiago, RB, North Dakota - Reminds me of Danny Woodhead

    In no particular order....

    Brian Peavy, CB, Iowa State
    Darius Williams, CB, Colorado State-Pueblo
    Peyton Pelluer, LB, Washington State

  12. I really wish they wouldn't play the Shrine Game and NFLPA Bowl at the same time. Thank God for a DVR.
