  1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.stampedeblue.com/platform/amp/2023/5/24/23735292/pff-projects-the-colts-jonathan-taylor-michael-pittman-jr-as-early-contract-extension-candidates Not really a big fan of Stampede, but here are their projections for Taylor and Pittman extensions. Let's hope, this isn't it. Taylor: Contract Projection: Four years, $60 million ($15 million per year), $35 million total guaranteed Pittman: Contract Projection: Four years, $92 million ($23 million per year), $53 million total guaranteed This puts Pittman at 10th highest WR contract. Also just under projected WR tag next year.
  2. Haven't heard anything other than medical being the reason he fell out of draft. I definitely think he has a good shot here.
  3. You gonna post anything of substance, or you just here to troll and try and bait NCF?
  4. It would, but because of Smith($19m), Nelson cap hit($12.2m) is very manageable this year. Don't really matter if both tackles are on rookie deals though. Offsets the cost. Just need best 5 out there. As of right now, it seems there is 3 options for the last spot. Fries, Ekiyor - RG Freeland - RT, with Smith moving inside. So 2 rookies or unproven guy. May the best man win. Still a couple FA options but that doesn't seem to be the plan as of now (with not signing anyone to this point)
  5. Pacers trade thoughts: Love me some Turner, but if this could be pulled off, I'm down. Turner Hield Nembhard 2024 1st(Top 3 protected) 2026 1st(lottery protected) For Jaylen Brown (S+T max contract) Then, time to replace Turner: Theis Duarte #26 #55 For Ayton I'm unclear if Ayton can be traded during the draft? If not I'm sure can figure out compensation once new year starts. #7 For John Collins #14 Haliburtin, McConnell Mathurin, Nwora Brown, Nesmith Collins, Jalen Smith Ayton, Isaiah Jackson Still have #14, #29 Thoughts? Plausible? Be real tight on cap space, might need to add McConnell to one of the deals. Probably get cap room real close. Although with Brown taking place for sure in off-season and us being under the cap those other 2 traded would probably ride. And we could take more back if we happen to go over cap. Then Brown S+T numbers would be within that 125% number.
  6. The roster will be in constant turnover throughout the off-season. So long answer short. Nothing to read into with this move. Just trying to put as much comp on the field as possible.
  7. No doubt, but the money is there to begin with, don't have to restructure a bunch of contracts and jeopardize future cap to make it happen. Blackmon, Printer and Sanchez shouldn't be too bad against the cap though. Maybe $10-$12m?
  8. Yeah, I agree. Like I said I actually have Elway as my #2. Superman already responded with TD and Shannon Sharpe to that point.
  9. It's funny because I grew up Pacers and Lakers fan, but immediately had to unlike him once they got LeBron. Most Lakers fans these days aren't even Laker fans, they're just there for LeBron.
  10. You would hope so, but Brady has 5 rings at that point. So maybe not?
  11. It's 1st tag - just whatever tag is. 2nd tag is 20% more than 1st tag 3rd tag is 44% more than 2nd tag I don't know what it is likely for us. Just laying out some possibilities into what you know the front office has looked at. They know, roughly what the cost would be with all these options. So they understand the advantages of each of the options. If it is a 4yr deal, most guaranteed money would be in first 2 years, with easy out in 3rd if need be. Just throwing out $12m for the exercise. Could be lower, could be slight higher.
  12. No doubt, I'm sure Barkley was looking for $15m+ a season. Open market didn't call for it, and the Giants are looking at it like (2) tags or even potentially (3) tags 2023 - $10.1m 2024 - $12.12m 2025 - $17.45m 2yr $22.22m deal - $11m AAV Or 3yr $39.67m deal - $13.23m AAV They have no reason to bend on $15m+ asking price. Will be curious to see what comes about with next year's franchise number for RB. Will be in the $11-$13 range probably. Let's role play with $12, and play out the potential for (3) tags for Taylor. 2023 - $12m 2024 - $14.4m 2025 - $20.74m 2yr on tag - $26.4m - $13.2 AAV 3yr on tag - $47.14m - $15.7m AAV Could rise depending where tag ends up. So on the 2yr tag, including the his season $5.12m salary, we have essentially a: 3yr deal - $31.52m contract - $10.5m AAV Even this year with the (3) yr tag with $5.12m for 2023 works out to: 4yr deal - $52.26m - $13.1m AAV So again like Barkley, there really isn't much incentive to give the $15m+ offer. Offer him the 4yr $44m deal $24m guaranteed, if he doesn't accept it. Tag it is.
  13. Great post. Something else that plays into these numbers, is that teams have to restructure and move money to future years making them even less likely to see the end. Kamara 5yr - $75m = $15m AAV; 2024 cap hit $18.9m, 2025 cap hit $29m Jones 4yr - $48m = $12m AAV; 2024 cap hit $17.7m Chubb 3yr $36m deal = $12m AAV; 2024 cap hit $16.2m Cook 5yr $63m = $12.6m AAV; 2024 cap hit $15.6m McCaffrey 4yr $64m = $18.5m AAV; 2024 cap hit $14.1m ***CMC an outlier because of trade - If still with Carolina cap hit would be $21.6m*** Zeke - 6yr $90m = $15m AAV So, to pull this all together. Looking at the contracts signed. (3) $15m AAV or higher, the rest around $12m. I think that, that is the sweet spot, could $13m be sweet spot? Maybe, but as you've stated in your post, the league, players and agents all know this, so I think their is a self correction going on. Where will it end IDK, but everyone knows, 2ne RB contracts rarely workout and pretty much all never see the end of that contract. Just not sustainable, so if players would like to be able to stay until end of deal, it might make sense to set up contract accordingly. It's a money grab in the end though, that usually wins out.
  14. Yeah, I was misreading that chart when I initially looked at it, thinking first number was exclusive and 2nd was non ex. Instead of, non exclusive/ transition. Can't find where exclusive actually fell, but it wasn't placed on any QB this year. To that point, for QB that are going to restructure, it doesn't really make sense for current team to restructure prior to deadline as it makes the tag cheaper for other teams. Now when it comes to RBs, who will likely be released(some maybe even this season), like we were discussing earlier. More likely to happen than a team that is keeping a player. Good catch though, had me stumped for a second. https://www.spotrac.com/news/2023-tag-values-candidates-1768/ Just kinda using QBs as the example since it's been easier to find the verbiage I was looking for.
  15. Nice post. Yeah, I was on the short sided thinking of this year only.
  16. It's guaranteed, so not to much can happen to hurt him. I think Minshew is genuine and is the perfect guy to be here at the moment.
  17. Even if he's not. He's on the list Yeah we all know about those.
  18. Ehhh. I mean, it might of been legit in the cheating department. I seem to remember quite a few "ghost PI calls" Golden Boy got in route to that SB. That goes to another issue though. Knew those phantom calls were coming before they did.
  19. I actually think Pittman's numbers will stay around current level. I also have tried to look at this objectively in regards to the QB carousel, but have came to the conclusion that despite that, he has left me wanting more on the some of the things he could control. (Making catch, getting the 1st down, etc) Has seemed to drop the ball(pun intended) in some relatively big situations. This is key as well, because it might be 2-3 years till he becomes that passer we want and might have to use his legs more the first couple years. Which means we will be paying #1 WR money on a team that isn't throwing to it's maximum level yet. Not to mention, I think we are going to be going more vertical with the passing game to open up the field. Lot to figure out, no doubt.
  20. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-lamar-jackson-tops-nine-franchise-tag-candidates-for-2023-projected-tag-salary-at-each-position/ Here's that verbiage. That franchise tag dropped down $13m from December (article wrote) till finalization. Think it's absolute though as we seem to be talking about 2 different things. Exclusive/Non Exclusive.
  21. Yeah, that's what seems to make the most sense to me. Either he signs a team friendly $10-$12m deal for 3-4 years, or he plays out his $5m this year and gets tagged. As far as the bolded, I've always been of the mindset that those numbers go up and down with restructures/ releases prior to the figure being locked in. Was looking for some verbiage, haven't found what I'm looking for yet. Will keep looking
  22. Crazy thing is we are in really good shape for next season. We currently have (52) players under contract for 2024, with (4) more added once we sign our remaining draft picks. $57m in projected cap space, probably $47 million after rookies sign. Plus whatever rollover we have, which will probably at least be in the $10m range to get us back to around $57m With the ability to free up even more cap with Cox Kelly Braden Smith If we choose to.
  23. Yeah, not a big fan of BR either. Saying that, I don't think their tiers are that off, and money for said tiers seems pretty close as well. Just thought it had a little bit of relevance at the moment, with potential pending extensions for Taylor and Pittman.
  24. To be fair, he has brought a lot of it on himself the last 9-10 month. Meddling to much, while doing and saying questionable things. This incident just had me thinking about the bigger picture and trying to see if puzzle pieces fit. Sure seem to be lining up. Seems to be a direct passive aggressive way to let Peyton know he is tired of him not being more involved with the Colts, instead of the Broncos. Which bugs me to, but don't feel this is the best way to go about it.
