  1. To be fair, he has brought a lot of it on himself the last 9-10 month. Meddling to much, while doing and saying questionable things. This incident just had me thinking about the bigger picture and trying to see if puzzle pieces fit. Sure seem to be lining up. Seems to be a direct passive aggressive way to let Peyton know he is tired of him not being more involved with the Colts, instead of the Broncos. Which bugs me to, but don't feel this is the best way to go about it.
  2. Grover is definitely a solid player. Will be interesting to see if we give Taylor and Pittman extensions this off season. Personally, I would give Taylor a 3yr - $30m extension right now. $20m guaranteed. If he don't accept that look into tagging next year if unable to come to a team friendly deal. He is due $5.1m this year, and a $10m(ish) franchise tag number next year. Pittman, I just don't know at this point. I don't think he will be a good fit in the offense, especially with the prohibited cost he will come with. Then add on, it will probably be a couple years before Richardson to get to where he needs to be passing the ball, running and creating will be immediate. Just feel it might be a waste of cap space at that point? Would give him $13-$15m range, if he would accept it. $21-$28m, nah, but isn't my money so who knows? Should be interesting.
  3. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10076678-what-is-the-going-contract-rate-for-every-position-in-todays-nfl.amp.html RB: Taylor - Tier 1 - $10-$12m a season WR: Pittman Jr - Tier 2 - $21-$28m a season DT: Stewart - Tier 2 - $13-$20m a season CB: Moore II - Tier 3 - $5-$8m a season I think Taylor is right around where it should be. Not so sure Pittman Jr is in that tier with some of those guys. Stewart would be fine as long as it is at the lower part of that range. Doubt Moore accepts an offer in that range, but guess we will see how season plays out. Thoughts on those tiers and potential contract figures?
  4. I don't know. First off I think amicable isn't sufficient for how their relationship should be. That's neither here nor there though. I think Irsay has infinite love for Peyton, I feel the resistance is coming from Manning's side.? Agree, neither care what the fans think about it, but I would love to hear Peyton's honest take on it. Won't ever happen, but can't imagine he is happy about it. On a separate note, I think it seems to be the opposite. 1. Manning's bias to Denver over Indy. * Will note that Denver clearly a better overall location, but his lack of presence here just screams, some other issues on going. 2. If Irsay has this, we will go with amicable, relationship. Why does he need Saturday here because of his "proximity to Peyton". Wouldn't his relationship be enough. Those were Irsay's words. 3. Again, I don't really care who is on his top 5, bottom line is it was unsolicited and it just feels like a shot at Manning. Unnecessary one at that. Even agreed with a Dan Dakich post today about the situation, and that never happens. Something just seems off with the whole thing to me.
  5. I definitely feel like it was intentional. Like I said, I even get frustrated with how little Peyton is visible for our organization, just seems to be something bigger going on there. It was the day after Jim Brown died, to your honor him take. This wasn't the way to do it. All the talk about that post is about no Manning, nothing about Brown being honored. I actually think Peyton will not be very happy about this, and will make it less likely for him to be involved more with the organization moving forward. Probably wouldn't of anyway, with his actions the last few years, but this can't help. Good post jvan.
  6. Mahomes is definitely well on his way.
  7. Solid list. Can't argue with any of those guys. Not going to put a list together, but 4 of them would be in there for sure. Lewis can definitely be argued to make the top 5, no doubt. Just so hard to rank across different positions. Irsay's list isn't even that bad, it's just the optics of WHO is saying WHAT and WHY? Unnecessary shot, IMO. Not going to argue semantics, but Brady and Montana come in at 3-4 on my QB rankings. Strictly for system reasons, Montana left, Young came in and won SB. Brady gets hurt, Matt Cassel comes in and wins 10 games. Not to mention both played for some of the most complete teams ever assembled and accompanied by the best coach of all time, and one of the deepest coaching trees from 49ers. Peyton and Elway were the systems. Anyway, moot point, like I've said a couple times here, it's not even about the opinion, it's the optics of said statement and why there was a feeling to do such.
  8. Yeah like I said above, I have Elway at #2, but the fact he wouldn't even come play here is a major gaff, and a lack of good judgement, to in essence publicly shame the guy the world recognizes when thinking about the Colts. I know Peyton won't be forgetting about this in a couple weeks. He will never forget it, and will likely cause him to be even less involved with the franchise than he already is.
  9. Probably right, not a good match for a trade, as I feel like we move #7 for something to help immediately.
  10. It's not about my opinion, it's about the perception that is being portrayed and for what? Go check the feedback he received from Colts nation in response to that tweet. Caused an unnecessary divide for no reason. Other than to send a message to Peyton about his displeasure with not being more involved with Colts activities instead of always about Broncos. Only reason I can see as to why he felt the need to publicly throw shade at the best player the franchise ever had. Wouldn't expect you to have a good take on the subject or any subject Colts related. No matter how long I'm away, somethings never change. So keep doing you.
  11. That's exactly it. His opinion is fine, but yeah nothing positive can come from it and feel Peyton has to be livid at the public assessment. Just wasn't needed. Like I said in the OP, Peyton always repping the Broncos and not the Colts bothers me. Seems as if it bothers Jim as well, but this isn't the way to express his displeasure with Peyton, just going to make it worse.
  12. Him claiming it was unintentional would be about the same as Mark Jackson saying he accidentally left Jokic off top 5 MVP ballot. nonsense.
  13. Definitely was intentional. Follow up tweet after getting backlash from Colts fans.
  14. My thoughts exactly. It's like your parents telling you, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." Kinda falls in that category a little. Just unnecessary imo.
  15. Haven't seen anything on the site in regards to this. Curious of the thoughts regarding the situation? Irsay is catching major flack about this, as he should be, in my opinion. I just find it curious, there has to be some behind the scene beef. I know personally, I get tired of seeing Peyton always repping Denver and rarely Indianapolis. Now it just seems that there is something else going on to cause that. If not, I'm sure there is more now. I personally have Elway as my 2nd rated QB(Manning #1) of all time, so I can't even be mad at him being listed there. I just really feel like this was a little out of pocket by Irsay, and really unnecessary. What is everyone's thoughts on this?
  16. This is what I mean by correcting itself. Ezekiel Elliot release - had like $18m cap hit or something in that neighborhood Cook, still might be released Kamara has his own issues Guys are struggling to get over that $12m mark right now. 2024 Top RB cap hits:(before cuts and restructures) Kamara - $18,887,000 - pending legal issues should make this not stick Jones - $17,717,000 - decent chance he stays at this number as GB put 3 void years at end of deal, but can still clear $5m if need be. Plus have Love in cheap deal. Chubb - $16,200,000 - last year of deal, so will sign extension and lower this figure Cook - $15,601,272 - already being discussed as being.released this year, slim chance this rides McCaffrey - $14,144,000 - solid number for CMC Mixon - $13,133,205 - don't see anyway Mixon sees this. Then big drop: Conner - $8,490,000 Saying all that, I think the tag will be at that $10m or maybe even a little under.
  17. Appreciate ya. Needed some time away, tbh I wasn't sure if I was going to come back, but decided today was the day. Here I am, some might not be so happy, but to each their own Happy to be back and glad you're still going strong, figured if anyone missed me around here it would be you. You're definitely one of the posters that I have been wondering how you were doing during my absence. Yep, and each year that passes after this one makes it easier to get out of contract if need be. I don't anticipate that being an issue. I love our new coaching staff. Sparano will do a great job getting the line back in order. Cam Turner another solid addition. As far as the RB market, I feel that it is self correcting itself. Coming back to earth, in other words. 3yr $40m seems like a decent middle ground? Franchise was $10m this year and should be right around there next season. Like you said, guarantees are what matters the most. Pittman, like I said, I'm just not sure he is going to fit the new offense very well? I feel we are going to be trying to push the ball down the field. Outside and inside, to open up run lanes for Taylor and Richardson. We still need that possession guy, which Pittman can succeed with, but how much is it worth? Downs can be that guy too. Time will tell. Just happy to be back where I can talk some Colts with knowledgeable posters. **EDIT 3yr $50m for Pittman seems plausible as well.
  18. I don't see us using this pick. Think it will be traded for immediate help But yes, to your point, players can be found everywhere.
  19. I can see it. Cap isn't really an issue for us at the moment. Early in off-season it was though Just meant to include that in initial post so did a little follow up.
  20. Something else, we still can clear some cap space if we wanted. Cox - $2.92m savings on release, $5.3m if find a trade partner. @NewColtsFanalso to your point on Nelson trade. Clearly poster had no clue of ramifications on trading Nelson prior to, or during draft. It would of cost us $12.6m more($24.8m) than his 2023 cap hit($12.2m) to do that. To even suggest it, shows they didn't know what they were talking about. Perfect response by you.
  21. Those contracts are easy to compensate for with a QB on rookie deal. Colts are setting around $24m in cap space. About $6,754,282 more in draft picks, so around $17m left. $9,574,282 - picks to sign cap hits - $3,720,000 - players drop below top 51 On the fence on whether or not we will see extensions for Taylor and Pittman? Could see it go either way. Taylor kinda makes sense to let the year play out and go from there. Either re-sign after season, or place Tag on him if unable to come to a deal Always been a little skeptical of the potential cost on Pittman, and with the direction of the offense, I find myself questioning if he fits in going forward. Being a big target could help with accuracy concerns though. Either way we have the money to extend both if we choose to. Moving forward the cap is going to continue to rise and these big cap hits won't seem as bad.
  22. Really excited about Richardson. Athletic traits off the charts. Seems character traits might be even higher The future is bright.
  23. Risner was the name I was looking at post draft as well. But agree with you and Zoltan here.
