  1. I've never really taken what Schein says as gospel. To me he's similar to Dakich, even when they say something you agree with, you really don't want to. Lol

But I don't think the colts & chargers are 1 & 2. Just in the AFC there are the Pats, Cheifs. And the Steelers are historically a Top Team with a HOF QB. Then you have the Browns. And the Raiders had a big off season. Then the Jags added a SB qb with that Defense. And the Texans with another year of experience for Watson.

The NFC has the Rams, Saints. And then there's the Cowboys.

Walker's legs are tree thick BUT what type of tree?

This might seem like an off-the-wall topic ( @LJpalmbeacher2 and @Nesjan3 ) especially talking about where WRs line up and if they're on the line or off it, etc.

I was just thinking about WRs in the depth chart compared to positions like QB, LT, FS, etc.  The depth chart is pretty straight-forward when it comes to the OLine:  the best LT always lines up at LT.

But WR is such a "multiple" position.  They line up all over the field, and the WRs on the field depend on their skill-set and the goal of the play.  There were plays last year where we only had one WR on the field and it was Pascal, not TY.  Traditionally, the "WR1" is always on the field because they're the WR1, so why is a guy that some would call our "WR5" the one on the field instead of the 4 guys ahead of him on the depth chart?

The depth chart for WRs, or the labeling of WRs, seems so arbitrary nowadays compared to when it was Harrison as the WR1 always lined up at the Z, Wayne as the WR2 always lined up at the X, and Stokely as the WR3 lined up in the slot.  :dunno:

Well someone might make a similar case about pass rushers. If there's a Edge that the coach don't care to see him play against the run he's mostly in passing situations. Where would he be in the depth chart? Not too good vs the run but your best pass rusher.

Same for the TE position. A all around TE may be #1 on depth chart but your Big play vertical TE is your impact player.

Will not happen, he was the most exciting WR we had in preseason before injury. ton of talent there.

I don't think he'll be cut either. But if he was, many would be disappointed.

I kinda think though his brother Abel would enjoy it.

A  6th Rd camp standout that got hurt. I can see it happening. Especially with Funchess and Campbell on the roster.

I'm not disagreeing with you.  A lot I guess depens on how healthy he is early.

My choices are any RB not named Mack, Wilkins, Hines are in danger. Including recently signed Ware lol.

Also Skai Moore is a candidate....and anyone who is a marginal player who makes a million or two above the minimum.

Been a Colts fan since the Mayflowers rolled into town the COLTS as a franchise has had many GM's & Coaches who in turn brought in ,Players whose qualities on the field & in the community have and continue to be exemplary . While there have been some who could not live up to expectations both on & off the field most do its the Ownership that IMO deserves a lot of credit  .

The Irsay family has done a great job in Indianapolis as a student of history & in particular the events that led the Colts to the Hoosier Dome & now LOS the Captain of the ship Jim Irsay gets an attaboy IMHO teams are  a representation of the owner & our owner has hired a great group of football people who have proven to be over achievers & motivators  & now 12 has protection a running game and a defense this season can't come soon enough .:colts:

No better name in football imo.

Thats is true, but it makes your odds substancially better

THIS Tennessee team...... isnt close to a SB, IMHO

I hadnt looked in awhile But since 2000...in 16 of 18 of the SB winners had an elite QB

Most are, or will be in HOF

    2 Mannings

    Warner

    Ben R.

    Brady

    Wilson (Probable HOF)

These guys are elite...... doesnt guarantee a SB win (Marino)

    But it surely helps.....

You can certainly say that again.

In the last 48 years, almost a half century, we've only won 1 Super Bowl. And in that time period our QB's have included the Great Bert Jones, the G.O.A.T Peyton Manning, and so far 7 seasons of Andrew Luck.

Obviously winning SB's is not easy when you don't cheat regardless of having elite QB's.

I believe we're the youngest team in the league not counting Adam "Great-Great-Grandfather Time" Vinatieri.

I think we might also be the fastest team in the league after this draft.  Even the OLinemen we drafted in the 7th aren't slow by OL standards.  We have speed at pretty much every position on the field.

Other teams might be playing catch-up with the Colts from now on, figuratively and literally.  :burnout:

Hopefully, the nfl will change from playing football to sprint races. haha

The following chart is NOT set in stone; there will be exceptions for players on the roster bubble. Certain players may play DE in sub-packages, while playing LB in base 4-3 packages. Of course, players will be injured at some point in the season, leading to replacements being called up.

Etc, etc, etc, you get the idea, it will not be accounting for each and every hypothetical but is a general guide.

    Roster.jpg

    Offense -----

Star of the offense: Andrew Luck

Player who has to step up and become a star: Parris Campbell
Unsung star on the rise: Marlon Mack

3 pro-bowl candidates: Luck, Quenton Nelson, TY Hilton

Strengths: QB, OL, TE, overall depth

Weaknesses: sure-thing all-Pro at RB, uncertainty at WR2

    Defense-----

Star of the defense: Darius Leonard

Player who has to step up and become a star: Kemoko Turay and/or Tyquan Lewis
Unsung star on the rise: Pierre Desir

3 pro-bowl candidates: Leonard, Malik Hooker, Justin Houston

    Strengths: DE, LB, overall depth

    Weaknesses: sure-thing all-Pro at DT

    10 best players -----

    1. Andrew Luck (QB)

    2. Darius Leonard (LB)

    3. Quenton Nelson (G)

    4. TY Hilton (WR)

    5. Ryan Kelly (C)

    6. Anthony Castonzo (T)

    7. Eric Ebron (TE)

    8. Malik Hooker (S)

    9. Pierre Desir (CB)

    10. Justin Houston (DE)

My grade is meaningless, but I would say C+.

I think this class is full of potential, but I do not see many immediate impact players. Rock Ya-Sin and Parris Campbell will see a lot of action, but everyone else will be rotational or special teams.

I concur and very much agree

with the Bolded. I think Paris, our only playmaker addition could really come in handy if TY gets injured.

I voted 'C' because 'B-' wasn't a option. Not disappointed because I wasn't expecting but not adding a good RB/TE I think was a mistake. New England picked up Damian Harris just before our pick. I think it would have been great to move up to get him. The perfect inside banger/workhorse to compliment Mack.

Just a joke.  As a pro, with the Colts, the guys at PFF weren't too high on Leonard, until they were somewhat forced to be.  That happens, even in a more statistically based environment.  No one lives in a bubble.

I was completely wrong on Ballard.   Not only on the Ya-Sin pick, but other picks as well.   I’ll be writing about that later.   Hope you enjoy that!

    I did enjoy....lol

    Props to you.
