I was talking about this in another thread but I disagree.  I don't think Good has been good enough in the preseason to warrant being the starting guard.  I think he has shown enough to make the team and be the primary back-up but he's not ready for full time starter yet.  And I'm basing that on all three preseason games so far, not just the Eagles game.

Well there we have a difference of opinion and that's okay.  That's why we are here. I don't think there is anyone on the team that can supplant him and he is also switching positions this year.  If someone is better they would be starting.  The more he plays the better he is going to become.  I think he could be our starting RG for a very long time and a good one at that.

  2. This is getting so old so fast.  I know we all think we are smarter than the GM or coach but it's only preseason.  Really,  another thread about a hopeless season, poor coaching and a terrible GM.  And we haven't played a meaningful game yet.  It's a long season.  Let's play it and see what happens.

Kelly looked like a rookie against a all pro line man, but if you noticed that same lineman could not could not get the same push against our RG  so it well take some time but kelly well work. On  the other Hand Castanzo got his butt handed to him time after time, I liked how Blythe looked when he took over over for Mewhort and Clark had a little trouble at RTexpected for a rookie but yhey have 15 days to get they guys playing together

Agreed.  Kelly will be fine.  We will be a lot better with Reitz back at RT.  Clark is not ready for full time duty. Good is improving every game. AC needs a heart to heart closed door.

Even with the good news on Jack I'd try to swing a trade for Ronald Leary or Anthony Davis. Good is not yet ready to be a starter, I like Haeg better  but who knows when he'll be back.

I like those trade options.  Maybe we could use Tolzien to pry Leary away.  I don't see Jerry going with a rookie QB even if he is having a good preseason.  I think Good is getting better every game.  He is switching positions too.  I think he has huge upside and has earned the starting RG spot.  Haag has a great future with us as well.

I'd keep Gore, Turbin, and Ridley.  Chud typically uses 3 runners or more in his scheme that perform different roles.  I see nothing wrong with Turbin for the power RB role.  Plus he's versatile enough to play fullback, great for short down and distance, blocks well and has pretty decent speed as we saw on his long TD run that got called back because of Dorsetts holding penalty. Ridley you would use for the other pass catching running back role, but he can certainly do more than that.  Ridley honestly can play the role of the lead running back if you need him to.  At least that was the case before he tore his ACL.  Haven't seen him run recently though so I have a few questions.  I'm fine with those 3.

I like Gore and Turbin and I could be okay with Ridley but I am hoping for a better option after final cuts.

  6. I know Prescott has played well in the preseason but I don't see Jerry going with a rookie until Romo returns.  Maybe we should call and offer up Tolzien and keep Morris as our backup.  You never know what Jerry will do.  Maybe we get a good player or pick or both.  Never hurts to make a call.

Not a lot out there veteran wise.   Maybe Pierre Thomas but he's old. Maybe some others will shake free when final roster cuts begin.  I'm still thinking one of those running backs from Seattle gets cut.  Don't know what else is available.

I believe KC is deep at RB and I believe I read where Hillman might be a casualty at Denver. Just a few possibilities that could be there.

Lions were pretty stacked though with good young backs between Ameer Abdullah, Zach Zenner, and Theo Riddick.  Really no room for Ridley.

Sounds about right.  But I do think other teams could have a similar problem.  We might be able to do better.  Doesn't hurt to bring him.  I just hope they are checking all of the other potential possibilities.

So...... if your Grigson, even though you've signed AC, do you think about trading for another CB?

Possibly,  I think it's his job to look at all of his options to make the team better.  Trades, released players, whatever.  Not just CB but any position.  I think we have an extra pick this year for Fleener.  I would bet he's always looking at rosters for potential acquisitions.

@Coffeedrinker:  good analysis.  Harrison did have one high snap. :)    Rick Venturi said a couple of times these past 2 weeks that Harrison would be a really good guard.  I agree with that.  Thoughts?

I actually think guard would be his best position.  I think he's battling Blyth for the backup center/guard spot.  If Blyth has a solid couple of preseason games to come I think he could win the spot.  Philbin drafted him so that really puts the pressure on Harrison and Thornton.  I could see them both being offered up for trade and or released.  Injuries on other teams could make them candidates for trade.  The next couple of weeks could provide a couple of surprise outcomes.

Still have 2 more games to be played, but from what I can see so far I think Okine and Maggitt will probably be the guys we see behind Cole and Mathis when the season starts.  Bates and Thompson I think will probably see the PS unless somebody makes the roster for special teams reasons only. Need to see a little bit more though because I felt the Ravens were getting rid of the ball quickly which kind of stymied the pass rush.

It's a real battle so far.  I kind of like Bates because he's playing well on ST's.  Great competition.

  12. I have to admit I too have been disappointed in Ferguson so far.  The Colts like him a lot and so far they have given him a lot of opportunities with poor results.  I think the pressure is really on him in the next game.   I like Turbin and Todman above Ferguson.  The 4th spot is a toss up.  In regards to our run game I think we are going to be primarily a run between the tackles team anyway.  The addition of Kelly and Good, both big men,  seems to bode well for that strategy.  One is a rookie the other a second year player switching positions.  They have only played the part of two preseason games but the potential is really there.  I also think Chuck has always preferred the power run game.  He tried to get it with TR and AB and now FG.  He might have the line to do it now.  We shall see.
