  1. And the fact still remains that he did have trade talks regarding Sneed. So I’m not entirely convinced he plans on starting two very young players with injury concerns as our two outside corners.
  2. Great video. Really enjoyed it. At the end he said “ we are on the cusp”. We are really close. I believe that. I have to believe Ballard sees it the same way. They really like the core of the team. That’s why we signed so many of our own FA. That took care of the first objective. Now I believe Ballard is going to bring in a major addition or two. It might take a little more time. Probably up until the draft but I think he’s going to do it. One thing we know for sure. Ballard has a plan and he is patient. So hopefully we have a nice surprise or two to look forward to.
  3. I would be perfectly fine with a Witherspoon signing. Could turn out to be similar to the Eukabon signing. I never heard of him until he joined the Colts last year either.
  4. I actually think the trade for Sneed was just about done before the leak happened. Then it became jeopardized with the leak. I think Ballard decided to tell Schefty they weren’t talking just to ice it for awhile and cool everything down so everyone can catch their breath and resume talks at a later date. I don’t think it’s 100% off the table. That’s just my opinion of course. I know Ballard has kept a tight ship in the past but things can change over time. Every organization has turnover. All it takes is one or two to slip up intentionally or not. I don’t really concern myself with the cost or contract or injury issues. They will figure that out. If it happens all parties involved are happy. FWIW I’m more concerned with Brent’s injury issues than Sneed. Brent’s goes back to college and continued with the Colts. They are part of the risks playing the game. I hope this year he shakes them. I think Ballard is going to bring in a couple of veteran players to help shore up the secondary. He cannot do nothing imo. If it’s not Sneed it might be a veteran currently on another teams roster. If I were in his shoes all options are on the table. And they should be. He doesn’t have much time left to get the job done and he knows it. Still very early so I’m just being patient like most here.
  5. I would prefer Blackmon and Diggs as well. A lot of people want Simmons and I wouldn’t complain if it happens but he is 34. I think Diggs would be the smarter choice considering age.
  6. Amen to everything you said. I think Cross is the SS unless Blackmon comes back and then we a great competition to figure it out. That’s a good thing imo. I really like what I have seen from Harrison at LB. I really like him in coverage and I like his football instincts out there. I can see him as the eventual starter especially if an injury gives him an early opportunity. A veteran FS coming on board is an absolute necessity imo.
  7. He is a SS. They tried him at FS two years ago and he wasn’t as good. So they moved him back to SS and he had his best year last year. Cross is a SS as well. That’s why we’re looking at FS in FA.
  8. if Ballard doesn’t get Sneed or a veteran with similar pedigree I think he will take a CB with the pick. I could even see him double dipping so to speak and still draft a CB at 15. He might have the pick of that group. We all like Brent’s but given he had the starting role last year he had a hard time staying healthy. Not a good start and Ballard knows his seat is warm. The secondary needs addressing big time imo. That’s why I think this time leading up to the draft will help determine how his draft plans fall into place.
  9. Absolutely. He had his best year last year. Led the team with four interceptions I believe. He won’t be back unless he and Ballard can agree on price. Which is yet to be determined.
  10. Correct me if I’m wrong. Isn’t Texas the school with those highly rated DT prospects?
  11. I’m still worried about Cross. He was pretty bad those last two games. And he has been here a couple of years now. He was also very young when he was drafted like Quincy Wilson was. We know how that turned out. I would rather have Blackmon back for sure.
  12. I agree. Bills went the least expensive route. Hopefully Blackmon realizes that his asking price is too high. Time for another conversation with Ballard.
  13. That is probably not to far fetched. The other good news is there’s nothing coming out of Buffalo so far saying they are signing Blackmon. I’m starting to think he might wind up returning. I hope so anyway.
  14. He sure was. I’m guessing the Colts wanted to ice this for awhile to bring the temperature down and Shefty was the chosen one. I still think Sneed winds up a Colt.
  15. Getting AR back fits his description of getting explosive on the offensive side of the ball. He might actually be okay with the offensive side. Even the TE room. He also said both sides of the ball need to become explosive. So I’m expecting a move there and most likely the secondary. That’s probably why he was interested in Sneed. So I’m expecting him to be focusing on adding a defensive playmaker now. I think he’s going to try hard to acquire a veteran. Plenty of time to do that leading up to and including the draft. There are plenty of ways to add cap space if he needs to as well. So there really is no rush. There is still FA and 31 other teams he could acquire a player from. I’m sure he has plans and strategies in place. So this early in the offseason I’m not worried right now. Ballard is far from being done.
  16. Ballard not moving fast enough on outside FA I would say. It’s clear his first priority was to bring back his own. The Pinter signing pretty much finished the job with the exception of Blackmon. So now the focus will be addressing the needs and holes on the roster. And we are only just starting the second week of FA. I have no complaints with the exception of the Sneed rumors. And I’m still not convinced it won’t happen. I’m now expecting an outside FA or two in the not too distant future.
  17. I actually thought DT would be our second choice if CB wasn’t taken. WR would be picked in later round. I’m assuming Bowers goes before we pick.
  18. No doubt. And I’m sure it’s with the blessing of our new DL coach. So I don’t see it as seeing if he can improve a depth player.
  19. Nowadays players miss time all the time. Injuries are big issues with many players throughout the league. 17 games is a long season. And 3 preseason games before that. He definitely has missed games as has many players have. That’s why having strong backups are necessary throughout the team. Blackmon is a starting caliber SS. His injury history should be reflected in any offer he receives. I’m sure it’s reflected in Ballards offer. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out for him and the team.
  20. Because last year he moved back to SS and was having his best year as a Colt until an injury ended his season. He led the team with four interceptions if I’m not mistaken before the injury. He’s not back because there is a difference of opinion on the value of the contract. Injuries are part of the equation I would think. Hooker left and has played well with the Cowboys. Every players circumstance is different. He might not be back we will see. I’m hoping any offer he receives comes in close to what the Colts offered and he returns.
