  1. In a new BR article tonight Dianna Russini is reporting that the Chiefs were originally asking for a 2nd pick for Sneed. They really want to move Sneed. She now thinks multiple picks will get it done. She mentioned picks 46, 82, and 117 would get the deal done with the Colts. Does she know something? The hangup is the contract for Sneed. He definitely doesn’t want to play on the tag. It sounds like he has moved off his position of wanting to be the highest paid corner. So now it’s a matter of agreeing on the contract. She now thinks the Colts are the front runner to land Sneed. Another team could jump in but his market has cooled somewhat throughout the league but the Colts seem the most likely in her mind. Albert Breer was also mentioned in the article. He thinks Sneed will be traded before the draft.
  2. I think there is a high probability we are still working on a trade actually. The fact that he’s not insisting on being the highest paid is huge. When the tag is 19.8 and the highest is 21 I can’t believe they can’t find a number that works for both sides. The question comes down to which team. Hopefully this is Ballard’s big swing.
  3. That deal fell apart quite awhile ago and they signed Calvin Ridley instead which took them out of a Sneed pursuit.
  4. I just read an article on BR where Nate Taylor of the Athletic is quoted as saying Sneed does not want to play under the franchise tag. And he is looking for a 3 or 4 year contract that would make him “one of the highest paid corners in the league”. This is very different from being the highest paid corner in the league which is what has been previously reported. So if this new reporting is accurate then I think trading for Sneed is still very much a possibility.
  5. I have to think Ballard gave him a very fair offer considering his particular circumstances. Ballard always takes care of his own players. We have seen that numerous times in the past. So hopefully that’s the case here and after a few outside visits maybe both sides can pull together and get this done.
  6. I have actually read a few articles where they said Baker is available for trade. So it’s not out of the question. He is on the final year of his contract so I see a trade similar to the one for Buckner. Trade and extend. I don’t see a 1st rd pick though as the compensation. I could see Ballard being interested like he is for Sneed. They are both around the same age. Bakers contract would be less so I wouldn’t say it’s entirely off the table. Just depends where Ballard thinks the focus should be. He is in great position to draft a starting corner with the 1st pick.
  7. For some reason I’m starting to think that Ballard is waiting to see how the Blackmon situation finishes before he signs another safety. He could still very well bring him back. He might even match another team’s offer. Until he knows how much it will cost him to bring him back, if at all, he is going to sit tight until he knows. I think we will know relatively soon actually.
  8. Question. Can top 30 visits be held away from the facility or do they have to come to the Colts facility ?
  9. Ballard has said they do go after big fish but have lost out in the past. If they went after McKinney you would think Simmons would be a target now.
  10. Every seven years. That’s great. Now we’re due for another Buckner type move. Lol
  11. Just my opinion of course but I think Ballard is willing to find a number between $20-22m. I can’t believe when you are that close a compromise can’t be achieved. Does he really want to risk playing on the tag. It’s a long season. I think he wants the longer deal with more guaranteed. I think getting a deal done with the Colts is a real possibility.
  12. I don’t think the Sneed thing is dead either. I think Sneed’s team and Ballard’s team are huddling up and will be back negotiating again in the near future. I think his agent wants a long term deal with more guaranteed money than the franchise tag offers. Chance of injury is always out there. I still think he gets traded. Hopefully to the Colts.
  13. And the fact still remains that he did have trade talks regarding Sneed. So I’m not entirely convinced he plans on starting two very young players with injury concerns as our two outside corners.
  14. Great video. Really enjoyed it. At the end he said “ we are on the cusp”. We are really close. I believe that. I have to believe Ballard sees it the same way. They really like the core of the team. That’s why we signed so many of our own FA. That took care of the first objective. Now I believe Ballard is going to bring in a major addition or two. It might take a little more time. Probably up until the draft but I think he’s going to do it. One thing we know for sure. Ballard has a plan and he is patient. So hopefully we have a nice surprise or two to look forward to.
  15. I would be perfectly fine with a Witherspoon signing. Could turn out to be similar to the Eukabon signing. I never heard of him until he joined the Colts last year either.
  16. I actually think the trade for Sneed was just about done before the leak happened. Then it became jeopardized with the leak. I think Ballard decided to tell Schefty they weren’t talking just to ice it for awhile and cool everything down so everyone can catch their breath and resume talks at a later date. I don’t think it’s 100% off the table. That’s just my opinion of course. I know Ballard has kept a tight ship in the past but things can change over time. Every organization has turnover. All it takes is one or two to slip up intentionally or not. I don’t really concern myself with the cost or contract or injury issues. They will figure that out. If it happens all parties involved are happy. FWIW I’m more concerned with Brent’s injury issues than Sneed. Brent’s goes back to college and continued with the Colts. They are part of the risks playing the game. I hope this year he shakes them. I think Ballard is going to bring in a couple of veteran players to help shore up the secondary. He cannot do nothing imo. If it’s not Sneed it might be a veteran currently on another teams roster. If I were in his shoes all options are on the table. And they should be. He doesn’t have much time left to get the job done and he knows it. Still very early so I’m just being patient like most here.
  17. I would prefer Blackmon and Diggs as well. A lot of people want Simmons and I wouldn’t complain if it happens but he is 34. I think Diggs would be the smarter choice considering age.
  18. Amen to everything you said. I think Cross is the SS unless Blackmon comes back and then we a great competition to figure it out. That’s a good thing imo. I really like what I have seen from Harrison at LB. I really like him in coverage and I like his football instincts out there. I can see him as the eventual starter especially if an injury gives him an early opportunity. A veteran FS coming on board is an absolute necessity imo.
  19. He is a SS. They tried him at FS two years ago and he wasn’t as good. So they moved him back to SS and he had his best year last year. Cross is a SS as well. That’s why we’re looking at FS in FA.
  20. if Ballard doesn’t get Sneed or a veteran with similar pedigree I think he will take a CB with the pick. I could even see him double dipping so to speak and still draft a CB at 15. He might have the pick of that group. We all like Brent’s but given he had the starting role last year he had a hard time staying healthy. Not a good start and Ballard knows his seat is warm. The secondary needs addressing big time imo. That’s why I think this time leading up to the draft will help determine how his draft plans fall into place.
  21. Absolutely. He had his best year last year. Led the team with four interceptions I believe. He won’t be back unless he and Ballard can agree on price. Which is yet to be determined.
