  1. But the 1 mil fine is on Kraft (I assume and so do most other) over Conduct detrimental to the league as per previous fines to other teams.  And Brady's suspension is not just for the involvement of ball tampering either.   Many things were put into the accumulaton of the fines.

    1: Ball tampering

    2:Conduct detrimental

3: Not fully co-operating with investigation

4: Lying to NFL, Media, NFL fans.

At least that is how most of the world views the reasoning for the punishments from what i see in blogs, articles, and news reports that emerge from anywhere but NE.

Pretty good synopsis here form Sal Pal on how Brady and his team will approach this appeal. They will attack the Wells report AND also the discipline handed out given the NFL rules book says the fine is but not limited to $25 k for a TEAM. The league will be fining Brady upwards of $1.8 mil if he misses 4 games as that is his salary.

Also of note, Brady is seeking complete exoneration here not a reduction. If he does not get it from the league, court is likely.

Why do Pats fans keep bringing up the 25k fine?  That is listed as the BARE MINIMUM.  NOT the quota.

Where would you put T.Y. on this list?

  4. It would be nice to see Good peal off 15-20 pounds of blubber...340 is a bit heavy for a Tackle.

Have you seen Goode?....That is not all fat..he is a Massive guy...lol, he his built like a truck. is why he was drafted i think, because of that size he run blocks like a State plow truck...lol

  5. Not really, we can't void the year he currently has on his contract.  We can add new money to it but usually that's in the form of a signing bonus.

For the record if TY signed for 7 mil a year I would do a happy dance.  10 Mil a year would be a bargain at this point and realistically we're probably looking at 12 to 13 Mil per year for TY.  Jeremy Maclin just had his first 1000 yard season this last year and prior to that had 4 seasons without going for 1000 yards.  Much of it apparently due to injuries.  He got 11 MIL APY from KC and got 22.5 Mil guaranteed.

TY already has 2 straight 1000 yard seasons and has no notable injury problems.  If he gets through next season without major injury and puts up a nice 1200 yard season or so.  He's seriously looking at a 12 to 13 mil per year payday with quite a bit of money guaranteed.

Yeah. that 7 mil i quoted was just for reference.   But i seriously do not see Indy giving him 13 mil/year.  He is a great players for us yes. and a major deep threat.  But let's face it, he does have serious problems with double coverage.  He just disappears. Now, I do not think he'll have to worry too much about that this year due to the talent on the field with him now.  But in order to keep that talent in the long run (Dorsett, Moncrief, Carter'maybe'), he will have to lower that total some.  In single coverage, he is a nightmare.  And he can ensure single coverage's for the future by not allowing his "money grubbing agent" to take over the negotiations.  I personally see him getting a Antonio Brown/DeShon Jackson type deal. 8-10 mil/year.  Since he is similar to those receivers.  He is not a Calvin Johnson/Dez Bryant/Demaryius Thomas style receiver.

  6. This is a good article. Breaking down each draft pick is something many people look forward to seeing. Perhaps we can see more articles like this come training camp and preseason? Something for which us as fans can read on each young guy and get info on them and their progression. (also, I would like to see Carter added to the mix, Since though he was not drafted, he is still essentially a rookie)

  7. I like TY, but I think they should be willing to let him go.   And I do think that impacted the choice to draft Dorsett.  I hate to say it, but the Pats have been the best at cap management for a while now, and one thing they're consistent about is they never spend big $ on WRs.

yeah they do not spend big $$ on wr's.  But cap management is in the eye of the beholder:

    Dead money this year:

Kyle Arrington $3,250,000 Logan Mankins $4,000,000

    Darrelle Revis $5,000,000
  8. I know T.Y.'s agent is one that has a bad rep for trying to "pull all the $$ he can". But I guess that is his job.  But T.Y. does deserve a new contract, and before the season starts to boot.

You would think that giving him a new contract this year would be a selling point to having a less overall contract than waiting til next year.

Say he wants an 7 mil/year for 4 year contract.  Wouldn't he make more money in the long run to sign THIS year for 6 mil /year for the same amount of time? it would seem as a leverage point on the Colts side to me.

Another question is this:  what do the Colts and T.Y. think of his position?  Do either believe he is a true #1 receiver?  I love the guy, fast, hands, and learning good route running abilities, but he has had SERIOUS issues with breaking out and getting open when he is double teamed.  Alot of that is because of his body type.  Most true #1's can find a way to get open when double teamed, granted they are almost ALL larger receivers as well.  This effects his worth in terms of salary.

Either way, I truly hope they are able to come to a mutual understanding and are able to get a contract done.  He has a good rep with Luck, and his youthful experience is an underrated benefit to the team.

  9. Been hearing ALOT of compliments on Hedges at LB also.  Seems he may have a good shot at making the team, (or atleast the practice squad.)

I will agree to disagree with you on the acquisition of Mathis.

And I believe Kerr will make the cut..if not win out the starter position by the beginning of the season.

But yeah, other than that, I seem to agree with you on the rest of the lineup :)

  10. The kick-back here is due to the fact that many people here,  once they form an opinion,  that view doesn't change.

Not for anything.    It doesn't matter if there's a Mount Everest of evidence to the contrary,   people here are not big on evolving an opinion.

Disappointing to me.   Sad but true.....   at least, from where I sit....

And I had a very high opinion of Brady before the wells report came out.  I thought he was not only a great player (which he still is) but a stand-up guy.  But my opinion on that last past has definitely changed.  I even went into the report with an open mind and tried to do what pats fans still doing...found myself trying to make excuses and was thinking of counters...but the report just had too much,...and was overwhelmingly convincing.  So yeah..people can change their minds...atleast for me, but there has to be some pretty good arguments for the case.

  11. Boy, we sure see the same thing differently....

I'm not sure he'd appear anywhere on a "me" focused list of player.    Look up at the post I made to Lawrence Owen,  it's the post right before yours.      None of that strikes me as very "me" focused.     And whatever "me" he has in him,  is channeled toward doing good.....   both for his team,  and for his community.

I think the "haters" still cling to the guy who left Cleveland for Miami and all those championships he was going to win.   Jeez,  that was nearly 5 years ago.     Feel free to get over that.     The guy returned to Cleveland!

You honestly do not think him saying he is the greatest player in sports is a "me" thing?

  12. IDC about him leaving Cleveland, coming back, or what he has done for the community.  (any top tier payed athletes give back to the community, it is a PR thing)  I agree the guy is physically gifted and very talented.  But he IS egotistical.  and not just when he was younger.  I mean the guy JUST said he was the greatest athlete in sports today.  Anyone who has that kind of head on his shoulders i am not going to care to much for.  If Luck came out and said" I am the best QB in the NFL"  (not even the best athlete in sports) I would loose a ton of respect for the kid.

  13. Sometimes it seems like only here, on this website,  could someone give what was clearly intended as a compliment to Andrew Luck and have everyone respond as if they were horribly insulted.

    Shaking my damn head......

yeah, i get it was supposed to be a compliment.  And yes, Luck may quite possibly end up the most gifted athlete in the NFL with the bling to show for it.  But physical gifts is where the buck stops with the comparisons between the two.  Luck is a way more likable guy than "King James".
