  1. The Colts roster is improved, but mostly on the offensive side of the ball.

On the defensive side, I don't see how they can avoid a few more games like -

Steelers 51 Colts 34, Patriots 42 Colts 20, Cowboys 42 Colts 7, and the infamous

Patriots 45 Colts 7. Who do we have on D to put a stop to the slaughter once it starts?

We don't have any difference makers on D outside of Vonte...just a bunch of average-ish guys who can beat up the mediocre teams but cannot do anything to a top O.

The Steelers game happened that way because by the end of the first quarter 3/4 of our starting secondary was out due to injury.  Big Ben took advantage...as he should have.  Cowboys game happened because we did not even play some of our play makers, like Hilton, to give them rest for the playoff's.  The Pats however...yeah, they've had our numbers.

That being said, We have ALOT of talent on our team.  Additions of Cole, Lanford, Irving, and return of Mathis will hep our front 7.  The secondary (minus Lowery) is one of the most complete units in all of football.  Before those guys went down in the Pitt game, Colts were 3rd in NFL in pass defense.  (that is how bad Ben ate our second/third stringers up).  Then we have the rookies, of which i am high on Anderson and Geathers..maybe even Smith.  But won't know till the season starts for them.

I am not even going to list the accolades on the offense skill players.

I think the O-line is better than people give credit for.  Luck was sacked enough to make him the 23rd most sacked qb...not that bad.  And anyone not named trent ran for 4.5-5 ypc.  And they did this with 10 different starting groups due to injuries.  Continuity will be much better next year, which means better production.

All in all, I think we probably have the deepest roster overall in the NFL...but Many of the starters are 30+.  So Indy has to be looking for replacement in the near future. (mostly defensively since they have young talent depth offensively)

  2. Anderson will add some strength and weight...but won't need to much unless he is to play NT(which he won't).  310-320 is a high end DT/DE in a 3-4 scheme.  And he played all the DL line tech's in college, so did Parry.  In a similar scheme Indy uses.  So I think he'll pick up well.

I like Kerr over Hughes or Chapman myself, he seemed to show more ability to make plays.  His consistency was the problem, but I believe i read somewhere in the Colts page where he has been working on that.

Langford is solid.  And will be for a few more years.  Jones as well.  Depth is huge on the edges of the line, but I believe we are still short at the NT.

  3. Yeah, 1/2 time adjustments are key.  And sometimes if something IS working, it is good to come out the next 1/2 different still.  For instance.  You run alot of 2 te, 2wr, 1 rb formations the first half.  you do well and gain significant yards and score well.  But you are playing a team you know adjusts well (like the Pats).  Coming out in the 2nd half on the first possession running a no-huddle 4 wr/ 1 rb, 2 minute drill could seriously catch a team off guard.  You just have to show different things that good teams have not seen you do much of.

  4. Frankly, Dorsett's Speed and Catching ability IMO are his strengths.  He had 1 ,..yes, 1 drop in his last year at the U.  Route running is something he'll have to work on, but he has T.Y. to help him, (better option for that than A.J. because of style of play.)  But all the signals showing that he is out there working on his route running and playbook knowledge as hard as anyone can.

Honestly, I think he'll be ready to be an impact player by the season opener.  Not that he'll get 100 catches and 1200 yards.  But with all the weapons he'll contribute, and his SPEED is the thing that teams have to account for...which will open up the short/intermediate routes for guys like A.J. Gore, and the TE's.  When Doresett and T.Y. clear safeties out of the middle of the field quickly, that will leave Luck to have a field day with the rest of his targets.

  5. Watch his tape, route tree is limited. Dude averaged I believe it was 24 ypc or something to that number. Mostly deep routes and quick slants. Just wanna see more out of him. Be more than just a deep threat boom or bust. Be a chain mover like Hilton has developed/developing into but still can burn you on any given play

yeah, he did say he wanted to work on his route running, and A.J. going to be a good teacher.  His hands are good though,...he had only those few receptions..but of all the balls thrown his way that was 'catchable', he only dropped one.  he gets his route running down, he'll be a monster opposite of t.y.  (it took t.y. 2 years to get route running down well enough to make those sharp cuts)

  6. I mean Dorsett is obvious unless he just pulls a DHB and drops his way outta indy. Cooper has to work for it more. Carr is gonna be a good QB, but he's no Andrew. And we also have the better team. Cooper has more of a challenge to be good than Dorsett but I'll still take Cooper any day over any WR that came out this draft

Well, yeah,..Carr is not Luck, and offensively, the Raiders are not the Colts.  So yeah,..Cooper is going to get his shares of doubles on that team.  We can wait and see how he handles that in his rookie season.

  7. Cooper is the better WR for numerous reasons

    1. Lead the SEC in receiving

    2. Played in the hardest conference in the CFB world and balled out

    3. Made Blake Sims look gawdly at times

    4. Great hands and route runner

Dorsett is really just another speedster, it's too easy to take those kind of players out. Look at Hilton every time we play the :flyingelvis:

Problem with the speedster WR's, while they are fun to watch when they make plays..... it's disappointing when they don't make the plays and become invisible

You gotta have time in the pocket or just be Andrew and throw strikes with defender's draped on your back to make the speedsters ball out

The issue with NE, is they put a man on him in his face, then if you watch closely, they have a guy 'shadowing' over the top.  basically a double team.  And team do that all day long when your running game isn't going anywhere, cause they know what you're going to do.  We establish a running game, and then have our plethora of receivers on the field, they have to play straight up because damage can come from anywhere.  Route running is a skill that can be taught, Speed isn't.  I still say both WR's are going to end up being top notch.

  8. It does mean something because you show very little interest, and your lack of interest gives you little credibility if any. You don't even say why Cooper is the better receiver, you just say he is. If you can't explain something, then you have no credibility. At least I gave a point on Cooper and Dorsett and why I think Dorsett is better. You just repeatedly say Cooper is better.

yeah, i agree with him though on the "I don't care what the so called experts say'.  I watch my own stuff also.  and make evaluations on them as well.  I do however do see what these so called experts say though, only to see if they even see what i do.  Alot of times these guys only see what i do, sometimes they don't, sometimes they do. (though not saying by any means i am a NFL scout, i just like to see for myself.)

  9. Again, I don't listen to scouts. Cooper is the better WR and that's my opinion. And I was glad we didn't take Brown even though I wanted him but only cause he went to Texas and I like Texas.

Brown doesn't fit our scheme, he's a 4-3 DT and nothing more imo. We need someone who can handle double teams. Brown experienced a few of those at Texas and at times was taken out the play by them. We need a disruptive force in the middle and I don't believe brown would've brought that, at least not to our defense

Apparently Grigson agrees or he would've taken him

Yeah..agreed completely on everything you say on Brown..just wish the rest of the world could see that as well...lol  (but these are our opinions)

My opinion on Cooper is that he can be a great wr is given the right circumstances.  A player has to be used correctly for their full skill set to shine.  Luck knows how to use a small, fast receiver, and two of them IMO for him on the field at the same time would be a dangerous proposition for a defending team.  Both Cooper and Dorsett could both be great.

  10. Saying Hasselbeck is better than 1/4 isn't much of an accomplishment, it's really only a handful of good QB'S in the NFL. It's the hardest position to play in the NFL imo

True, but my point was some teams just do not have depth at certain positions. let alone talent.  Also, just because scouts think a player is better than others does not mean he'll end up BEING better in the NFL.  I honestly thing Anderson was a better player to have then Brown was at the position, (cause they'd play the same position in our defensive scheme).  only time will tell which players make their impact, and which become relative bust's.

  11. Speculation now is pointless.. i am over it...none of our opinions are going to matter.  We wait..see what is handed down,..and the explanation for that.  Then we can begin anew on how some says it was perfect punishment, others say not enough, and even others saying too much.  no matter what happens some people will not be happy, and other furious.  We could debate this until the end of time or wear our finger to little stubs typing our opinions over and over...

  12. Not understanding how the "best" WR in the draft is gonna be a 3rd-4th string WR while the "not even the 2nd best" is gonna be starting day 1 but okay. And really don't see what age has to do with this but again...... okay

well, our back-up QB never see's the light of day but is still a better QB than 1/4 of the starters in the league..it happens when you have so much talent on a team in a certain position.

  13. Anderson,..flat out.  Size, relentless Motor, A plethora of moves to get by a blocker, understands the scheme already, and is a sure tackler.  he'll be the starter IMO by week 6 if not earlier.

Most interesting is Goode to me though. Not alot to go on, but has the size, and athletic ability to make a serious impact in the run game.  But don't know his pass blocking abilities, or his ability to learn schemes or work habits.

  14. First of all let's get one thing crystal clear. You and I; we do not know what the punishment will be. We just don't know. We can only use subjective thinking, and personal thoughts about the situation to reach a personal conclusion for an appropriate punishment. You don't know the punishment. I don't know the punishment. Make sure you understand that very well. There are very few people in the NFL who actually knows what the punishment will be. So blanket comments about the punishment that brady and/or the pats will receive has no value.

As I said, I do now know how much time brady will actually get. In my mind, this a very serious offense, and if the NFL wants to stop this nonsense then they must make this punishment so severe that no player or team will ever think about doing anything like this again.

You may think this is no big deal. That's your opinion.

The integrity of the game matters to me.

Never said this was no big deal.  I whole hardily agree that the integrity of the game is the utmost importance.  And I am frankly disappointed in Brady not owning up to his getting caught and making an apology, rather than still fighting.

Yeah, I never said I knew what the punishment will be, I have just been going by what i read.  (done alot of that in the past couple days, reading news reports and guess's of punishments from 20+ different cities across the country.)  But I truly "feel" if the punishment is too low, or too high, there will be consequences to the league itself as well.  They would have to handle this fairly like any other scandal/cheat.

  15. Well it was kind of both really. It was that we could not put any pressure on Big Ben whatsoever. I mean their OL killed our DL. We just couldn't get close to him. He had all day leading to the 500plus yardage. Then we couldn't stop the run game either. This year We'll have a much better pass rush that's a given, and honestly our run D should be better as well assuming Anderson is solid and one of Kerr, Hughes, or Chapman really break out.

It was not just the fact we could not get to the qb. We also have starting pass defenders out due to injury that game...including Vonte Davis going out in the first quarter.   This is why getting Smith was so important.  Behind out starter, we really had no quality to speak of.
