  1. Fully agree with the MJD reference.  Also on board with him learning from coaches and Gore on how to pass protect.  He can catch the ball from what i've seen in vids.  The thing what I am most psyched about is his yards after contact.  This will keep defenses honest about the box.  And if they don't..play action on this team will absolutely kill any defense in the NFL.

  2. Shot in the dark here.  But the way they picked him, and that no-one (not even the sports analyst's) knew who he was, that he was set as their last pick from before the draft even started.  I mean, in the press conference they stated Colts went and watched his drills and saw his combine and spoke with him many times over the past few weeks.  I bet you Grigson thinks he got not just a steal, but a needle in a hay-stack that no-one knew about.

  3. Love the Anderson Pick. great scheme fit for us, and will end up being a starter when he builds up some and learns the system.  Has a knack for getting into a backfield.

The Smith pick i am not sold on.  it is not his size or his work ethic, it is that he is a Zone defender, not a man-to-man guy.  He has ALOT of learning to do before he can be trusted out on the field as a defender IMO.

  4. My opinion on picking him first is this:

If Indy somehow either trades up with picks or an expendable player to get Goldman, or Phillips (or even Landon Collins who is an all around player) then the first pick is not just good for the offence, it is brilliant for the defense.

With the offence they have now, they will be scoring in bunches, and the only real way to combat that is too keep them off the field like the Pats have been doing.  Adding a stud to the D-line will help with this.  Getting up by double digits in any game, against anyone will force the opposing team to trow more and run less.  Our defense is very good vrs. the pass, and with the potential pass rushers we have available now, throwing vrs us to try to keep up in a shoot out plays into our favor.

So go get a great 'eater of blockers', and a good, fast, sure tackling MLB, and watch the W's start rolling...:)

  5. The first pick could be seen as a brilliant move when the draft is all said and done.  One way is to get the run defense shored up. (Colts have a great pass defense already in place.  I would absolutely LOVE to see them trade up to the top of the 2nd round (since trading up in 2nd is easier then 1st) and grab Goldman or Phillips.  This would not only justify the first pick, but make it just scary.  Solidifying the run defense make it tougher for teams like NE to run the ball constantly to keep the deep WR rotation of Indy off the field.  Teams would then have to throw to ball to play catch-up.  (and I already mentioned our good pass defense)
