  1. 35 is a good listing. Ike Taylor and Joe Haden had some pretty nice things to say against him.  And all those Pats fans who said they only had 1 guy covering T.Y to shut him down and now eat their words since it was shown he was double covered all day with a safety over the top.  (But great route runners can get open in those situations, so he has some work to do this offseason in that area.)

  2. I actually believe smaller receivers can run that corner of the endzone fade route and be successful/great at it. Shorter receivers just have to run the route different. Marvin Harrison was great at that Corner endzone fade.

Marvin's hands, route running, and 'noodle legs' though were also beyond compare.

  3. T.Y. does not get into the end zone like the top WRs manage to do...he had 7, 5, 7 TDs in his 3 years

here...meanwhile Fleener had 8 TDs and Allen had 8 TDs.

He had big yardage last year but that can be picked up by the other receivers.

We all love T.Y. but he is not in the same league as Calvin, Dez, Damaryius,

Nelson, Beckham, et al...Hilton is "Tier 2".

Exactly, T.Y. cannot take the "fade routes at the corner of the endzone", like Dez, Megatron, A.J., ect.  He is like what all small burner receivers are,..yardage eaters.  He gets you to the red zone, but once there, he is limited.

Also, Dez said he was happy with 13 mil year.  Just wants a multiple year contract, instead of a franchise tag for security.  I see Dez getting 13 mil /year, Thomas 12, and T.Y 10ish.

Is T.Y. a top 10 receiver? yes, and 10 mil/year would put him in the top 10 paid category also.

  4. We already know Luck has a good enough arm.  It's his trash talking that needs improvement.  So yeah, I want him to spend all his time in New York bars, cursing and yapping.  Maybe his college buddy Richard Sherman can give him some pointers.

I think Lucks trash talking is already awesome.  Reverse physiology and all. "Good hit man" has pass rushers going to the sidelines shaking their heads asking why their best hit does not rattle him....lol

Now,..if only Luck could find a way to use that mindset on DB's...lol "Wow Revis, you were on him like glue!..Made me put it through the eye of the needle to get that TD!"..."great job!"....lmao

  5. Gore was not brought in to produce explosive plays. And no-one expects that. Being brought in to consistently produce 4-5-6 yards/run is his forte and what the Colts need. He can do that because though he is past his speed prime, he has toughness, and veteran savvy to hit the right hole as soon as it opens and wiggle through the first hit and power forward for positive yards. With the receiving core we have, teams cannot 8 man box him as much as he is used to, so he should have a great year in terms of YPC.

  6. Is this what passes for column write ups now? The Bleacher Report has never impressed me that much. Is there any analysis there at all? Hades no. Do they give out sports journalism degrees in a Cracker Jack box now? Sigh...

No disrespect to forum members BrentMc11 & NCF who worked hard for their degrees & would put any BR writer to shame. It just irritates me when any fool can list a projected starting lineup & mention who was injured last year. Are thought provoking reporters a dying breed now? Links like Lawrence's Owen's make me feel like it.

Ok, I do not know how to feel about your post.  In a way it feels as though you're attacking me personally.  I am Not a sports annalist, I am a fan of the game whom saw something I wanted to share.  And was wanting feedback on it.  I can give reasons why I believe our O-line is not nearly as bad off as what a lot of people think we are..

1: Trent just sucked, every other RB played well, and averaged good yards per carry.

2: Luck was hit alot yes, but not sacked as much as most QB's. (though i agree some of that is due to Luck's elusiveness)

3: Continuity last year was horrible due to 11 different starting lineup's for the o-line due to injuries.  That was a curse, and a blessing.

With so many getting starting experience at different positions on the line, coaches now have a larger pie to work with this year.

4: When Herremans fills a position, adding depth desperately needed.  This free's up guys like Mewhort whom can go to a position and master it rather than getting moved around to fill weak spots.  Extensive time on a single position for young guys are needed to play well.  transition to the NFL is hard enough, learning multiple positions just adds to the difficulty and slows progression.

5: I do not see RT as a weakness for the o-line. We have 2-3 people whom can play this role well.  The real ? for me is the center.

  7. In Wallaces defense he does have 15 TD's the last 2 years and while he don't have a 1000+ yard season yet in Miami and Tannehill has been awful if he has had to throw the ball 21+ yards completing only 9 of 42 attempts of 21+ yards...Actually his completion percentage of passes 11+ yards is 44.5% according to ESPN...Though his O Line blocks for him like they hate his guts

You're better off to say he had 10 TD's last year, cause the year before was only 5.  The most catches he has had in a single year in his 6 year career is 73, and broke 1k yards only 2 times.  maxed at 1257.  He was given this Money because there was no real WR play maker in FA and the Vike's had the $$ to make sure he played for them.  Wallace is a speedster with butterfingers when it is crunch time.  He lucked into a contract with a team that hopes and prays he turns into something special.  But his past does not even begin to validate the contract he has gotten.

  8. Brown is in a class by himself when it comes to smaller receivers. Jackson doesn't even compare.

I agree that Brown is the cream of the crop when it comes to smaller burner receivers.  I was just comparing that the small speedsters are a different breed than the larger, versions of receivers and are paid differently.

  9. Robert Kraft is a darn nice guy. I applaud him immensely for agreeing to the league's loss of draft picks & the fine itself. Here's an honorable man that I will never viciously slam ever. Bob does take good care of his players & coaching staff. I'm happy for his franchise's decade plus long success. Like I always say, SW1 doesn't hate any team except those dreaded god forsaken Dallas Cowboys.  :P

I think they should rename the award ceremony the brass knuckles celebration since that's what they have become now a weapon as opposed to elegant jewelry. It's a nice ring but gargantuan in size & circumference. On the plus side, if your light burns out at your front door as you fumble around for your keys at night, you can still see though. Nice.

Only joking! NE had an incredible year & they earned it. Just keep in mind 1 thing though: Chewbacca & the Colts are coming for some bling of our very own too.

Yeah I know, INDY has work to do & we need to verify that we can hang with your club at least. Touche.

I am going to agree here that Kraft though disagree's with the punishment and has voiced it, he has taken responsibility, and accepted the punishment.  And I have respect for that.

Also, yes i believe the past few years the Pats have owned the Colts, (deflategate or no) and have done so convincingly.  I am under the hopes this year will provide more of a game and I believe Indy has taken steps on both sides of the ball to do so. Week 6 is going to be a fun game to watch, because both teams have fire in them over it, and the entire world is going to tune into it.

  10. you mean like the warning only they gave to the Vikings. . . :P

Absolutely, The players nor Brass did not lie about it, there was no Failure to cooperate, Nor were any of the Brass or Players found to have ANY knowledge of it,...Video showed hand warmers being used by attendants, and the Vikings corrected the situation themselves. So the NFL warned them.

  11. You do understand that that salary of Dez's is a tag right? I still do not think any receiver has reached the level of skill and natural abilty of Megatron yet.

Calvin Johnson is a beast upon his own.  Natural gifts that are unparalleled in the NFL. (and that contract was given during his prime.)

That being said, I think Dez should get a contract close to that of Megatron.  He has shown that once he ages alittle more, and learns veteran savvy, he has the capability of being Nearly if not equally as dominate.

Thomas on the other hand is already at his peak i believe.  Plus is a product of the system/QB, but his numbers are there none-the-less. But he is not and never will be a Megatron type player IMO.

  12. Just a wild guess, but I think 7th round pick Denzelle Good will make the team's 53 over more recognizable names. Surprise. Surprise. If I'm wrong, I think he'll still make the PS.

Fully agree.  He has raw potential being so young and and so big.

  13. More of a prediction really in my opinion, I think the reality ends up being we finish in the 20's again in rushing and under 45 carries of 10+ yards with 100 hits on the QB though with under 30 sacks, I just don't see Herremans making a big difference

Alot of that had to due with Injuries and inexperience from the linemen.  I am hopeful (knock on wood) that there will not be nearly as many injuries to the starters as there were last year.  Cohesion plays a very big role in how the line works.

  14. yeah

Did you have a look at Mike Wallace's contract?  He signed that I think in 2012 with the Dolphins and no longer has a signing bonus attached but when he did it was HUGE.  I believe outside of Fitz and Calvin Johnson it was a market setter.

When Antonio Brown signed his contract he wasn't putting up nearly the numbers he has recently.

yeah, that is an overpaid WR..period.  entire NFL knows this.  Wallace got a contract off of speculation only.  Because the team wanted to sign a 'hopefull' playmaker and since there was not alot of those at that position floating around, they overpaid to make sure they had him.

  15. It's been destroyed outside of court...

opinion by some pats fans.  But then again...those same pats fans have been saying the same thing over and over since it came out.  And other "faithful" fans have came right out and acknowledged the shame of what the team did and Brady in particular, and apologized to the world.

If/when nothings changes after the appeal, and it becomes evident that Brady will not take it to a judicial court, you and others like you will still be crying foul.

  16. Yes it only had to with sexual harassment, a criminal offense.  I mean come on. We are talking unproven ball deflation here not scoreboard fixing. If the NFL uses that as its reason then I will be even more confident of Brady's victory

the reason Criminal cases are dealt with differently is because the U.S. Judicial system hands out the real punishment.  The Judicial system does not hand out punishments on NFL cases that involve how the game is played (unless someone murders another player on the field during a game...>.<) So the NFL has to be MORE strict with those type of offenses because they are the only ones handing out any punishment for them.

  17. Welcome to the world of market setting contracts.  Every time a top player comes close to FA they usually set the market for a position or come close to it.

Luck is not the best QB in the NFL but he will likely set the market and be the highest paid one.  Why?  Because salary cap expands and when a top player hit's FA he's usually able to set the market.

TY Hilton may not be the 2nd best WR in the NFL.  But I have a feeling he'll be up there.  Remember also that Dez and DT are going to be looking for contracts too.  One of those guys is going to push the market, probably higher then the 12 to 13 that I think TY will get.  I'm guessing at least one of them gets 14 M APY.  TY will push for just a shade under that.

Actually it may be smart of the Colts to get the extension done early before the market is set by one of those guys.

But Dez, DT, and CJ, are all different type of monsters.  top notch Size receivers get the 11-13 mil contracts.  Antonio brown, Deshon Jackson, T.Y. are the smaller burner types.  Those types whom are top notch get the 7-10 mil contracts. They are paid differently.

  18. Not true. Favre did not cooperate and got a $50k fine. And his phone was relevant in a criminal offense.

But, that criminal case had nothing to do with the integrity of the game between the lines of the field either. And the NFL has said multiple times they find that type of occurrence dealing with how  the game is played MUCH more important to the NFL than criminal cases outside those lines.

  19. Yes, I had corrected my previous post on this. It is in part for non-cooperating. But as I said, the league has never suspended a player for non-coop. Brett Favre who did not hand over his phone in the sexual harassment case got a $50 k fine. So again, Brady's team is going to hammer home that the league's punishment is not fair or consistent which is in violation of the CBA.

But Brady's punishment was for Multiple acts...not just 1.  They were compounded.  Which is why he got served a suspension.

  20. Even that letter explains it was also due to not co-operating:

With respect to your particular involvement, the report established that there is substantial and credible evidence to conclude you were at least generally aware of the actions of the Patriots' employees involved in the deflation of the footballs and that it was unlikely that their actions were done without your knowledge. Moreover, the report documents your failure to cooperate fully and candidly with the investigation, including by refusing to produce any relevant electronic evidence (emails, texts, etc.) despite being offered extraordinary safeguards by the investigators to protect unrelated personal information, and by providing testimony that the report concludes was not plausible and contradicted by other evidence.

  21. No. The punishment was issued by Vincent which is another contention that Brady's team has the CBA specifically says the commish has to hand down a punishment in cases of integrity of the game but Goodell specifically had Vincent do it so he could then preside over the appeal.  As I have said before, if this gets to court Brady's team is going to have a field day with the league and its handling before it even begins to tear into the pile of poop that is the Wells report ...

This is where Pats fans are misinformed..Goodel had the Final word on the punishment.  He delegated the job of coming up this the proposed punishment, but Goodel was the one whom decided to go with it after thoroughly perusing the contents.  He even made a statement explaining this after Kraft accused him of altering the NFLPA.

The New England Patriots were notified today of the following discipline that has been imposed for violations of the NFL Policy on Integrity of the Game and Enforcement of Competitive Rules relating to the use of under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game of this past season:

For the violation of the playing rules and the failure to cooperate in the subsequent investigation, theNew England Patriots are fined $1 million and will forfeit the club's first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and the club's fourth-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. If the Patriots have more than one selection in either of these rounds, the earlier selection shall be forfeited. The club may not trade or otherwise encumber these selections.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft advised Commissioner Roger Goodell last week that Patriots employees John Jastremski and James McNally have been indefinitely suspended without pay by the club, effective on May 6th. Neither of these individuals may be reinstated without the prior approval of NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent. If they are reinstated by the Patriots, Jastremski is prohibited from having any role in the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs to be used in NFL games during the 2015 season. McNally is barred from serving as a locker room attendant for the game officials, or having any involvement with the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs or any other equipment on game day.

Quarterback Tom Brady will be suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2015 regular season for conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL. Brady may participate in all off-season, training camp and pre-season activities, including pre-season games.

"We reached these decisions after extensive discussion with Troy Vincent and many others," Commissioner Goodell said. "We relied on the critical importance of protecting the integrity of the game and the thoroughness and independence of the Wells report."

  22. Vincent's letter made it clear that Brady was being suspended for ball tampering and thereby violating the integrity of the game. Nowhere in the letter was there any reference to his non-cooperation (Wells actually said he and the team cooperated substantially in the report) as the reason for any part of the suspension or anything about him lying, etc.

granted, that is Vincent's reasons were.  But Goodell has the final say in the decision.  The letter was a recommendation.  Goodell handed down the actual punishments, and his reasons may have differed.
