I like this guy, but for some strange reason nobody on here ever talks about him.  I'm sure our coaching staff has a lot of intel on him being that our RB coach comes from Arkansas Razorbacks.  Arkansas played man and zone schemes just like we'll be playing in 2016. I think our running game will have a lot of similar concepts Arkansas ran I bet.

    Sebastian Tretola, G, Arkansas
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 314. Arm: 30.5. Hand: 10.
    40 Time: 5.45.
    Projected Round (2016): 2-3.

3/5/16: Tretola impressed sources - who tipped me off months ago - in 2015, especially in the ground game, opening holes for Alex Collins. Tretola is a power run blocker who was also rather dependable in pass protection, but that latter phase is what he will need to improve the most in the NFL. At the Senior Bowl, Tretola had a solid week and achieved movement at the point of attack.

Tretola was the Razorbacks' starter at left guard in 2014 and didn't allow a sack all season. He also had only four penalties. In 2011, Tretola was on Nevada's scout team, and the next year, he played in four games for the Wolf Pack. Tretola spent 2013 playing at th

That is funny,..first time i saw his name on these boards, but i have similar opinion.  I personally think we could trade down to the late 20's, get  Ryan Kelly and a 3rd round pick.  Then use that pick to snag  Sebastian Tretola .  This would effectively fill 2 needs on O-line with our 1st rd pick.

That's true...however, late in the year we were getting a lot of pressure and some sacks from the interior guys (Kerr, McGill, Langford and even some from Winn and Parry), and it's harder to find interior pass rushers than it is to find edge rushers.  And there's a lot of youth with those interior guys so in that regard, we're setup very well, especially when you add Anderson back into the mix.

With Langford, Parry, Jones, and Anderson healthy, there are some analyst's that say Indy's D-line is one of the best in the league.  It just has to be healthy.

We need another impact olb opposite of Mathis, and Corner opposite Davis, and the D starting unit is set. Fixable with a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

I think our O-line would be hugely improved with just 1 single addition....a Solid Center. Trade back to get Kelly and another 3-4th round pick. However I also believe RG can be improved with a 3rd-4th RD pick. Having A.C.,Mewhort , Ryan Kelly   Sebastian Tretola  , Good as starters, and Rietz  where he is best, a plug in play replacement or breather o-lineman, we could have a very solid overall O-line.

But our team was 8-8 with injuries to how many impact starters? And most of the losses came down to a single score difference?....yeah, i'd say our 2015 team was better than the previous ones.

It's fine to like the Philbin hire but don't make up some garbage about he is a "players coach".  That's it completely false and couldn't be further from the truth based on what I saw on Hard Knocks.

What i meant by 'players coach was not that he is 'friend' -aka Pagano.

I was implying that he focus' more on the players strengths and weakness' and makes the most of them. trying to put them in a position to shine with what they are good at, and not putting them in situations where their weakness' can be exploited.

Rather than how our previous o-line coach had a specific scheme, and attempts to mold players into it.

He makes the most of what he has.

    Seriously?

A flip phone is something you likely owned 10-15 years ago.

It's like a wall.    The two halves are hinged on one side and to open/close it,  it's flips....

It's so old,  and has been so old for so long, that people can't even remember what it was.....

    LMAO.

I'm 40...and just bought my First phone 2 weeks ago.  And wouldn't have if my house hadn't burned down and I no longer had a house phone...lol  Only reason I use a phone for now is to make/receive calls, and to check time occasionally...so a flip phone is actually perfect for me since carting it around is not like trying to pocket carry a tablet all day like the newer phones these days....:P

  5. Yeah, like i said, I know it's not the norm for a QB to have an incentive deal.  It's just that all i've heard from Luck past few seasons is fixing the "knucklehead" mistakes.  He could prove he's legit in wanting to do so by agreeing to a Int  ratio deal.

I don't think he'd do it either, but it definitely would show me that it is something he's actively trying to fix if he did.

Incentive categories are predetermined by the CBA. Can't use interceptions, but you can use interception percentage (with a minimum of 224 attempts per season).

I don't see why any player would agree to that, though. And aside from Peyton Manning's team-based incentives this season, I don't remember any well established QB having incentives in a contract.

If you're interested, you can go here and scroll to page 113-116, you can see all the team and individual incentive categories that are allowed in the CBA.

  6. So far there are a few new hires in the coaching area that I am excited about.

#1: By far is Philbin.  Putting a guy who is a 'players coach" is always good.  He works with a players strengths rather than trying to change who they are to fit what he wants.  He understands the game as a whole  -being a head coach in Miami-, But his strength is o-line - GB-.  He should dramatically change  they way our o-line protects Luck, AND improve our run game by leaps and bounds.

#2: Ted Monachino.  Our strength on defense is the D-line now. (IMO)  And I believe we have talent at the LB position, but coaching has limited their progress.  Ted is a basics guy who will get these guys to play fast and hard rather than watching a play unfold.  (which is what our Lb's were doing early in the year in 2015.)

These are my 2 favorite coaching hires so far.  A couple more is coming and my top 2 could change, But they would have to be pretty impressive to do so.  Disagree? Agree? Or have input that i missed?

  7. How  about an incentive deal?

I know this is not a norm for a QB, but it could work well in this circumstance.

Not how many TD's he throws,. or yards he gets, but getting a bonus for an Int free game? And/Or being under an Int limit for a season?

If he truly believes/wants to improve in this area, maybe he'd take something like this to lower guarantee'd money on his contract.

But the more i think about it, maybe not.  Alot of Int's are not the QB's fault.  But worth looking into maybe.

  8. When I say : 'Keep Art as a back-up, he's paid $$ to contribute to the best of his ability" this is what i mean.

Art being a so-called back-up would still have him on the field as much as the starters.  He knows all 3 positions and can rest them all if needed.  Moving up and down the line, giving breathers for Anderson, Parry, and Langford, until he himself needs one.  THAT IMO is getting your moneys worth.

  9. Personally, I think Good could end up being our long term RT solution.  Those few games he started, he performed quite well. 80% or our issues on the line were center and RG.  Center IMO is our biggest weakness. But the best centers in the draft are only rated 2nd rounders. So yeah..i'd go RG in the draft with out #1 pick and get someone in FA to play center.

Frankly,..drop Both Holmes and Harrison,..let them go bag groceries at Krogers for a few years.  Obviously neither of them are up to the task and are like picking the best rotten fruit on the table.  Do what they did with the NT position last year...start over.

I think we should keep him. It costs us pretty much the same to cut him than to keep him, so I'd rather keep him.

Although I disagree that he should start over Langford or Anderson or Parry. At this point he's the defensive line's sixth man to use a basketball term. First guy off the bench.

That is my thought.  IDC how much he's paid, to me he is on the roster to help the team in the best way he can.  Him rotating the D-line for breathers is a VERY important role IMO. Being able to do so without loosing skill at a position is a huge bonus to that defense.

  11. What i look at is this:

3.3 mil is gone,..period whether he plays for us or not.

Is he going to be worth the other 2.3 mil this year? Or can we get some one of his skills for 2.3 mil?

If Art ends up healthy,, and can play, then no-one of his caliber can be got for that price.

He may be a late May decision by the brass,...to wait and see, like they did with Gos last year.

  12. I think grabbing a cheap, fast RB with good hands to go with Gore would be a good idea until next years draft. Cris Johnson from AZ maybe.

Prince is a decent idea for a CB.

I think our future D line is set.

C and RG is most important.  Both should be gotten in top 3 draft picks.

Our new DC should be able to get more out of our present LB's for pass rush..that IS his forte.

  13. I like Gore, Hard nosed runner who can hit an invisible hole inside the trenches and gain 6-8 yards.

Personally, I wish we had grabbed Cris Johnson last year.  Cris still has juice and can hit sideline runs with a vengeance.

Cris is a free agent again this year since AZ only signed him one year.  Though I expect them to resign him,...if they don't, grabbing him for peanuts to give Gore breathers until the 2017 draft where we spend a high draft pick for a rookie would be my go-to plans for the future.

  14. With Art Jones being Injury prone the past couple years, and his contract giving up over 3 mil in dead cap next year if let go - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts/arthur-jones/ - the  conundrum of what to do with him is expanding day to day.

However, I believe keeping him would be most prudent for the team as a whole.  But some would disagree, especially in the capacity I have in mind.

I say keep him,...as a primary back-up.  With Langford and Anderson proving they are solid starters on the DE/DT spots,..and Parry shoring up the NT, Jones would then make for perhaps one of the best depth/rotation players in the NFL.  This would also lessen the amount of snaps he has, and in doing so, supposedly lessen the chance of injury. Possibly having him for an entire year for once.

Also, since Anderson's injury is so significant, there is no guarantee he would even be ready at the start of the season himself.  Yes having both Anderson AND Jones on the sideline week 1 does not sound like the best overall usage of personnel, but the reward after both are fully healed could  pay dividends.

  15. I think this is good for coaching up the LB'ers,  he may be able to get production out of our young pass rushers, whom have so far been a let down.  This could very well free up draft picks for the o-line and CB positions.  But will he be an aggressive play caller?  Will we still be a Man-to-man defense?

I think we also need another good position coach.  Give us a o-line coach that can teach guys how to run block....

So who are your big names for that 1st round Center?
Or perhaps you are thinking of trading back into the 2nd rd?
Barf at Freeman as our backup.
We have plenty of good looking beef for the D-Line.
      The rest is pretty obvious.

Take a Guard/Tackle i guess in first round.  Prefer Guard..but if a top  tackle drops to 18, don't pass up.  I personally believe Center is our most dire need, but projections have the top 2 going 2nd-4th round right now. so i'd use 2nd rounder on that.

I'm not sure why everyone is so down on Reitz, he was our 2nd best OL on the field this year. I think he deserves the starting RT job. We are a good starting caliber center and a couple solid backups away from having a good OL. Depth was our biggest issue this year, we didnt have a solid backup LT on the roster to fill in for Castanzo when he went down. Castanzo, Mewhort, Thornton, and Reitz was a good OL for us, center was/is our problem. Oh and Louis has got to go asap! Hes horrible!

I'd say Good did a splendid job filling in at tackle also when he was called upon.  More time with a good o-line coach, and some more experience, i'd say he could end up starting caliber also.

  18. This is just  where I stand in positions we need to fill, and whether  to get them in FA, or draft.

    QB: Keep Luck/Freeman

RB: Keep Gore, maybe look in draft mid late for another.

WR: Keep Hilton, Moncreif, Dorsett, let the restfallwhere they may.

TE: Sign Fleener because of him staying healthy..let Allen go. FA maybe for another.

    OT: AC, Rietz, Good stay.

    Guard: Mewhort stays...Draft 2 high-mid

    Center: IMO..maybe first draft pick.

DT/DE: Keep Anderson, Langford, and Art-because of his dead money, otherwise he'd be gone-

NT: Parry stays, grab another in FA

OLB: Keep Mathis, Walden, And eye the FA market

ILB: Is a mess...Keep Irving, mixed emotions on DQ and Freeman, keep Moore because not a lot of looks yet. FA worth a look.

CB: Keep Davis, Smith, Butler -for nickle only-, Draft mid to late.

S: Keep Adams, Geathers. Lowery for depth,..but check FA...then draft mid-late if nothing comes of FA.

    K: if he wants to play..keep A.V.

    P: keep

Just my opinions..feel free to critique or make your own list.

  19. He went down week 9.  And knees are most of your physical stability when you're a trench player.  Being constantly pushed, bumped, and fell on by 300+ lb. guys over and over every play.  This is an Injury where He'd have to be %110 healthy before returning for a single snap.  Giving his youth, combined with the promise he showed the first 1/2 of his rookie season,...Indy should/probably not even let him practiceuntil he's %100.

  20. Luck makes both the Offense and Defense better.  But only if he's healthy.  If we could have sustained drives longer in games, the Defense would not be winded in the second half.  Luck can do that.

Sadly, pretty sure Colts season ends next week -too much has to happen-.

But Injuries killed us this year, Anderson on the line was nearly devastating.

Today, Defense played pretty good, especially the front 7.  But it was vrs. an inept Dolphins team.

We DESPERATELY need another man corner opposite Davis.  The secondary gets torched for 300+ yards EVERY game...>.<

Hopefully, we grab a Guard, Corner, and LB in top 3 draft this year. IMO

  21. If Good plays  RT again, He'll be asked to do what few in the NFL have accomplished, Hold off J.J. Watt.

I expect Indy to use a similar scheme as they did last time they  met, and put multiple bodies on him through-out the game.  But for a rookie, only in his 3rd game, it's a lot to ask for.

Good has shown great ability to fend off power rushers, and for the most part, hold off speed. But speed rushers w/ power seem to give him some trouble. Watt is the epitome of this.

I personally think have a TE outside of him to chip the rusher back into Good would be a perfect set-up for success vrs Watt.  But you know he remembers being held to just a single tack the last match-up, and will be looking for payback.

This is the biggest match-up of the game IMO.....no matter who is behind the center for us.
