His last interview, he was very adamant and very clear. I am staying with the plan, and I will be ready to go when camp begins. He won't be throwing in any organized colt's activities until training camp begins. I would imagine we will get few updates until Training Camp also, so get ready for all the "sky is falling" pieces sure to follow in the media.

The fact we are not drafting a QB, and traded down still tells you all you need to know. Luck is on schedule, but he plans to take every small step necessary so he will be 100 percent by camp!

Let’s say he does start throwing at training camp. I don’t anticipate it being a normal training camp for him. It will probably be more like it was when he started throwing last season. He had a scripted number of throws and several days of rest in between. It would be a breakthrough nonetheless.

    It is not worrisome.

The tea leaves are all positive.

    *  Ballard has been emphatic on his return.  He was less so last year.  That has to mean something

    *  Ballard said clear evidence in their belief he will be ready was the trade from 3 to 6.  That has to mean something.

    *  If you saw the Tom House video, clearly that while not throwing a football, he is approximating the throwing motion and has done so enough that they feel he will be back.

    *  Clearly they have a date in mind for when Luck will start throwing again and be ready for the grind of camp and games.

Luck is fine.  I get it - until you see him wing it like an NFL QB, there will be questions.  But I think the worry in 2018 is much ado about nothing.

They can be as positive as they want. They were all positive that he was going to play last year. Even Luck himself said he was absolutely going to play last year.

Ballard saying he traded down because he’s positive that Luck is going to play sounds like a draft smokescreen to me. The only way they were going QB at 3 was if Luck retired or he suddenly needed another surgery. Outside of that they are going to wait for his return. He traded down because he thinks the guy he wants will still be there at 6.

That Tom House video is great but we don’t even know if Luck has even progressed to that level.

I think they definitely have a date in mind that they’d like to see him throw but I think they are waiting on his body to tell them that he’s ready to throw.

Luck hasn't given a timetable for his return. If he will not be throwing at minicamp, then we have to assume that he is following the plan.

No need to panic. We're still months away from the beginning of the season.

Hard to really give a timetable when you really don’t know. I doubt if he knows anything until he  gets on an actual throwing regimen and ramps things up.

Here is my attempt to disagree without being disagreeable.

Do you honestly think the league should care enough to move this game to Indy just because of what happened in January?  As I said earlier, they have other infinitely more important things to worry about.

Do you honestly believe the ratings would be appreciably better because it is in Indy over Foxboro?  Does Joe the plumber in Sheybogan, WI not tune because this game is game is at New England where he would have if it was in Indy?  Do people around the nation really care enough to see John and Jane Doe in their McDaniels Sucks T-shirt?  Would that cause a ratings spike?

I think the clear answer is it really doesn't matter where the game is played.

My shirt would say “ THANK YOU JOSH!” because I am so glad he changed his mind.

I partially agree.   One thing I like about the NFL is that in any 4 years span, all teams had a comparable schedule.

Now if there was an option to swap a couple games and have this one in Indy, it would have been a good idea.   My guess is that it would not have been easy or possible.   The scheduling is not an easy thing to do.  8 home, 8 road games.  They have set teams they have to make fit for everyone.

That is not a good reason to move a game. It may be a good reason to flex a game but to move the location of a game merely for “drama” doesn’t seem fair to me. With that said, I’m sure it’s happened before without the teams or fans knowing.

My thought too.  Last year they said rehab was going to be very deliberate.  And then we find out he skipped steps.  Doesn't rehab have to be supervised in some way when you decide to enter into a 100 million dollar contract?  Do the Colts approve a rehab schedule set forth by the player, his doctor, and the Colts doctor staff that has to be monitored for compliance?

Or does the player decide to just do what he wants based upon what his doctor says, or not?

Everything said by Luck or the Colts to this point is a bunch of talk to placate an audience.  We shall see come practice time what the situation is and not a moment before.

I’m with you. This skipping steps excuse is just a deflection. I don’t buy it. Instead of just admitting that they just don’t know what the hell is wrong they want to blame it on skipping steps.

Rams were 4-12 in 2016, nobody had them winning more than 5 games last season. All they did was change Coaches and give Goff the green light to do his thing. Then they go 11-5 and win their Division. So I agree anything can happen.

Rams were a talented team being held back by a terrible coach. Fisher had lost the team and they didn’t want to play for him anymore. I don’t see the Colts having that big of a turn around in 2018. 2019 is a different story though.

  9. So Reich hasn't even seen Luck throw and yesterday Ballard said Luck wasn't throwing?  Am I missing something here?  I guess Luck told him he was throwing.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22930531/indianapolis-colts-coach-frank-reich-andrew-luck-throwing-football-again

As for how much Luck will participate and when he can start throwing with full velocity, Colts head coach Frank Reich said that's something that won't be known until the team gets to examine their franchise quarterback in two weeks.

"I really would like to take a guess at that, but I haven't actually put my eyes on him throwing or anything like that or I haven't gotten in-depth with him to the point of, 'Hey, tell me when you're going to let it rip,'" Reich said Tuesday at the coaches breakfast at the NFL's annual meetings. "I just trust that he knows that.

Hah , he’s not a star by any means , but Baltimore almost signed him for 4 years 29 million a couple days ago. We just got him for 1 year 5 million.

I’m pretty sure we want him to be more than “another body”.

Baltimore realized how stupid their deal was and found a way out though.
